4] i can imagine, that if there was an option in server setup for specifiing amount non-s2 users on server, most admins will put it to zero anyway...

exactly, and how many servers are there in S2 that even have S1 cars enabled?

and minus from that the servers who's admins don't want S1/demo users on their server

and you're left with oh ... umm.. 1 or 2 servers. And the devs are going to spend time to implement this why??

Quote from Chaos :IMO it's not a big problem limiting the number of S1 spectators on a server with S2 track to 2 per server maybe...

The idea isn't viable. The system is fine the way it is at the moment. Demo is to get a taste of it and S1 is for a little bit more, s2 is for the whole package.

It would be so much more work for the devs and it would only benefit the people who are so tight they can't pay out 12 pounds for an S2 licence.

Devs have more important things to do than that.

Quote from inCogNito :exactly, that's why it would be better to have 1 additional color for the lappers instead 3 new colors for the leaders.

It seems to me that everyone has different ideas about what it should be like.
We are never all going to agree on a conclusion so there should be an advanced map option where you can select how "you" would like it displayed.
Either like you have said or different colours for every position, backmarkers, lappers, in front, behind, whatever tbh.

This way, Everyone is happy

Quote from JJ72 :One thing bothers me, seems that S2 players think they are above everyone because they paid, and don't care about the experience of those who still plays S1 and the demo, thinking that their racing will be "ruined" because of these players, but isn't the LFS community also formed by these players?

If you are going to grow, going to get popular, then you have to in the end open up and trust these people, you can't just close yourself up in this little world and fear about people you never raced will come destroying your world, can you?

I mean....this idea is very good because it brings racers of different level together, and that's the point of making a multiplayer sim isn't it? you have private host options, you have car choice option, you have dedicated host functions, if the host are properly moderated then things can be just as fine - just face it wreckless racers are also in S2, paying 24 pounds doesn't nesscarily make someone a good driver.

The core of these issues isn't about how much you paid, it's the same problem which exists in every multiplayer game, and you can't solve it just by isolating yourself form the "outlaws", if you believe that your live for speed experience makes you a better driver, than you should also trust that it will work for the others too, if you have absolutely no trust in others, then just run your private game.

No that's where you are wrong. Not paying members should not be able to view / drive in S2 servers as this would be a disadvantage to the drivers that are paying.

Who is more important to the Devs do you think? paying or non-paying members?

Tehre is nothing wrong with the system at the moment. It works exactly the same as any other game. You don't see NFSU servers when you are playing their demo and you can't join their races so I don't see the value of this.

It would be great for demo users but then it wouldn't really be a demo would it? the idea of a demo is to give people a tempory view and an idea of what the full version is like so that they buy it, not to give them full access to view and race in s2 servers. Then all you are doing is paying for better cars and not access to a better quality and better community of racers.

The idea is completely flawed imho

Quote from (SaM) :Holy poopoo! That would make a mess guys. All those colors would certainly not make it easier. Though on the other hand, what about a dot for the ones being one lap behind you instead of a square. Then you can see who you are, who's ahead of you, who's just behind you, and who's one lap behind you.
More information would make it too complicated, imagine the new drivers? Itll ask for a new topic:

do ne of u guyz no wat teh c0lorz on teh map means? icant fig0r it 0ut y0!

you'd have the same topics asking about shapes instead.

In total there would be 6 different colours. one for you, 3 for 1,2,3rd places and 1 for people behind you and one for people being lapped. I know it may be confusing to the beginner but maybe it could be turned on using advanced options then because I know it would be really useful to me.

Will the old content be moved to here over time??

cheers,

yes it's all still there at the old address. I imagine it will be deleted some time in the future when they are sure that all valuable information is transferred.

Quote from winDOS :hmmm thats a good point indeed... well i think i leave this issue to the admins

yeh, I think the best way to resolve it would be to create 2 new sub-forums within the 3D Renders sub-forum. One for 3D Renders Showroom (to present your renders) and another one for 3D Renders Help / Questions (To get support and help on creating you renders).

Quote from Chaos :IRL the rider who gets a drivethough penalty and doesnt complete it (he has 3 laps to do it, if he doesn't -> black flag, disqualfication) because there are not enough laps, gets a time penalty. This time is added to his overall time and final standing is changed, accordingly... Usually he gets 30sec to his time...

Yeh that sounds good. I haven't seen anyone to that IRL or looked at the rules but I think that basing the rules on real life is the way ahead for LFS.

Quote from winDOS :Maybe just like the skins, a thread for every car type. I think that would solve the problem. And leave the normal topics for help.

What about teams that want to post all the renders for their skins?

they have to post each render in a different forum?

Quote from Don :i want all the renders to be in one thread, so when soemone new comes here, he can look at them all and doesnt have to search for some prehistoric threads with 4 posts.

in the subforum you can discuss techniques, problems etc, but i would be for one thread for posting renders

So then he can't use the search function at all and has to search through 30 pages of people posting renders...

that is the reason of this forum, post your renders ask your questions about rendering.

It can't be a drive through penalty because, you obviously can't complete the penalty as there are no laps left.

If someone goes through the pits on the last lap then it should just be a straight black flag / disqualification.

Or if you wanted, the pit window option already discussed on RSC would be viable where pits do not count towards your pit tally if completed outside the window.

Quote from inCogNito :i don't see the point, the first 3 yellow dots are the first 3 leaders.

instead lapped drivers should get a different color, because it's not always easy to see if the guy behind you is a lapped driver or someone who fights for your position.
But there were already many suggestions for this on rsc.

No that's not right. On a small track like AS Cadet with 10 laps. You have people spread around the track so you clearly cannot see the first 3 cars at all. The colours would help you to spot them out.

But I think drivers that have been lapped by you should maybe be black,

but

too many different colours could be quite confusing don't you think??

wtf??

there is a 3D Renders forum.. why create a post within the 3D Renders forum and get everyone to post their 3D Renders within that post. this is why we have the forum. so we don't have to. illepall illepall

No it wouldn't.
I posted it in the 3D Renders forum. Why create a 3D Renders post within a 3D Renders forum and get everyone to post there. ??

It is in the right section so there is no problem with it. Thanks for your contribution though. It was slightly amusing.

Quote from Unaimed :I would like racers that are one lap or more infront of you have one color.
Racers that are in front of you on your lap have one color.
You are one color.
Racers that are behind you on your lap have one color.
Racers that are more than one lap behind you have one color.

If the system would be like this then you would know if the car behind is one lap down and therefore no danger. You would also know if the car infront is the position before you or 1 lap infront.

I'm not sure about this. Think that it isn't neccesary or even that usefull. Having the 1,2,3 in different colours would be far more practical tbh.
