Does the LFS forum likes it?
It's a (much) bettered out ArmA, wich uses the new version of it's engine (Real Virtuality III, OFP used I).
Anyway, if you don't know about it, some destacables are that this version is set in a RL enviroment (Russia), and feautures 6 Factions (USMC, Russia, Cherorusa Defence, Cherorusa Red Star, NAPA and Civilians).
Also, my fav part of this is that it has a storybased campaign like any other game (not like the last one, wich was pretty boring). This one has important characters, including you (you are part of a USMC SF squad), and your actions have consecuences.
Better animations and voices (finally), as well as new models and overall feel.
I'll give it a go later. Also, tried on the same resolution on 6bits and nothing changed... so, or it's ubberly bad texturing (wich I know it's not), or it's the game not switching.
I'll tell you later what happens when changing resolution
Edit:
Ok, I tried switching resolution, but colors didn't change. Something funny I noticed is that it didn't look like 800x600, it really looked like always... so it looks like it's the 3d config.
I read some installation tips for vista, I'll unistall it and give it a try.
Edit2: tried reinstalling with patches and all... still on 16 =/
Hey guys!
So I just bought GT Legends really cheap, less than US$10. It drives ok and my momo works as it should.
Everything ok and graphics maxed BUT... I can't get 32bits working? I go to the config. program and set it to 1024x768 32bits, but everything seems 16b to me I've got Vista(32).
Any ideas?
True, it's just a slice of the center mirror. It needs something better, even if you can't see you car's parts, at least different views, because right now this slices are increasing our blindspots
Looks like you guys haven't noticed
Go drive at KY on sunset, with someone driving in front of you. As you go through the oval, on one of the two turns you'll se the car in front of you casting a shadow on the wall. Look at the wall (INCAR VIEW) and BU! no shadow there.
That's what I meant, you shadow is not rendered when you are using the cockpit view.
@MAGGOT and S14: Yes, there's a shadow update, wich consists in a new shadow, under your car. Your shadow is not casted on shadowed surfaces because it recieves no direct light. Since Z you can see the "ambient shadow" (as said by Scawen).
Size, as you wish.
And well, I'm quite used to Paint.Net I was just asking if you could, it's just that it can't handle so many layers, wich, in my thoughts, coud be together in a layer.
PD: Sorry for taking so long to answere, I'm on holidays
Is it possible for the actual graphics engine to render the shadow of the car you are actually driving? I've noticed that it doesn¡t get rendered, and even if it's not that important, it wouldn't kill the immersion on sunset conditions. What do you guys think?
Hooah!
What LfS needs is an update in the graphics engine as a whole... it's not that urgent at all, but something with real time reflections and such wouldn't hurt. LfS is pretty detailed, it just needs an engine that can show all of its potential just imagine tracks with normal mapping and actual lightning... it would look pretty impresive.
Maybe like a GTA on Hawaii without all the crimes and stuff that's what TDU is.
And I want a racing title, not GTA (I've got IV anyway). Looks like game devs have failed us on making japanese games for japanese consoles, giving us their back (Yeah Genki! Talkin' bout you :bigeye.
The Simax looks good tho... still not released
thanks for the tips.
Still wishing for a game like Kaido Battle or Battle Gear for PC, I love those not for the drifting though, but the cars and the roads. In fact, I used to play alot battle gear 2 at the arcade two years ago
I know about kaido, but I need a PC title, 'cause I haven't got any consoles aside from my sister's Wii
I'm looking for something with roads and nature, like NFS3 and 4, but more recent
I also tried NFSU2, and yeah, it's not that bad, still not what I'm looking, and I prefer NFSU with the "always drift physics" trick, wich make it a pretty decent game
I've got world racing 2 but it's sending me an error now, "lost main port" or something like that, and now I can't play
Maybe you guys can help me out.
I've been looking for a good road racing game for the PC. You know, decent physics and graphics, some cars, traffic, etc.
Something like the old NFS', Kaido Battle, or Battle Gear. Something like that!
I've already tried: World Racing and some oldie NfS'
I've got one that works like a charm!
it goes on when I go out of tunnels and things like that, also it's almost unnoticeable without comparison when there are no lightning changes.
daloonie, it would be nice for Paint.Net users if you could do some "basic" templates, with, lets say, 5 layers, because this kits you make are too heavy for Paint.Net to handle, I've tried with the others already
I still belive it's not a resources problem, but an optimization one, because LFS runs flawlessly, at high fps, until I crash.
I used to record with Fraps and AA without problems
edit: Tried with turning down graphics, AA, AF, etc. with no results, same glitches as always. (Average FPS 90)
ok guys, sorry for bumping this old thread, but noticed something while trying to record a video.
On my old pc, LFS would run at about 40fps while recording with fraps. Now it sticks at 11fps, and no, it's not Fraps' config. cause I already checked that.
Maybe it could give ppl a clue. I'm desperate.
Edit: Tried what Cahill said, no noticeable difference, but I'll keep it close to performance just because :P
Also tried restoring LFS' original graphic setup (from the nVidia control panel)
