Quote from tristancliffe :I race against that car (pictured). It's now owned by a chap called Matt Payne, and has a Merc engine.

I could never imagine how much fun it would be doing an engine swap on a cart like that, especially with a merc engine.

Too easy Kristi, I remember the day, was great fun getting some snaps of your driving.

I think found about 40-50 photoshoots on my system, all dated when the photos were taken so its a great bit of nostalgia to see from 3-4 years back.

An Interview Dennis Lind - Motorsport Driver

I had the fantastic opportunity to interview a Professional Motorsport Driver by the name of Dennis Lind. In his career so far Dennis has achieved the Formula Ford Festival winner in 2010 and the Danish Formula Ford Champion to name a few of his winning races. Dennis has really shown his potential in the Motorsport world, last year Dennis also came second in the Danish Thundercar Championship (Camaro Cup). We had the chance to interview Dennis to discuss the development of Sim Racing and how it may benefit aspiring Motorsport Enthusiasts to pursue a Career in the Professional Motorsport Industry:

PolePositiondriver.com: Would you say that Sim Racing is a good way for anyone looking at pursuing a career as a Professional Race Driver?

Dennis Lind: Absolutely, You can almost find any track in the world as either mods or addons to various games. I’ve used this way to practice many times before races especially if testing was limited.

PolePositiondriver.com: What aspects of Sim Racing prepare someone to real life racing?

Dennis Lind: On a very detailed simulation title such as like iRacing or rFactor PRO, you can get quite a lot of references of where things are such like braking points, where the curbs are and even which areas of the track surface contain more rough patches.

PolePositiondriver.com: What is it in particular that you enjoy so much about Racing in real life?

Dennis Lind: I think it’s the funniest thing you can do behind bars. Jokes aside, I think it’s the nonstop action. You really have to gather your mind for the task, it’s not something you just ‘do’ as you tie your shoes, and you can always improve in racing, and that is what drives me. Its the same for Sim-Racing, to always stay in competition takes a great amount of time. The sensation of being one of the best at what you do is definitely what drives me and is what keeps me going.

PolePositionDriver.Com: It is said that quite a few motorsport drivers find themselves using Sim Racing to help train, do you find that using Sim training in between races has made a difference?

Dennis Lind: Absolutely, I think a good example would be in 2010 where I both won the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch Indy, and Formula Ford Euro-Cup at Zandvoort. Testing was very limited that year, because of a poor budget, I only got to do about 4 races that whole year, and Zero tests. So i relied a lot on simulations back then.

PolePositionDriver.Com: Which class of racing would you recommend starting off with?

Dennis Lind: Go-Karts is a great way to enter racing, on entry level it’s quite affordable as well, but in higher classes it does get quiet expensive, but Karting is definitely the way to go.

PolePositionDriver.Com: Which car are you using at the moment for racing? Is there a particular Sim title and vehicle that you would find the most familiar to your real racing?

Dennis Lind: I drive a TA-2 classified Chevrolet Camaro, which is used for something called Thunder Cup here in the north.
And most realistic car, that’s a hard one, most of the sims I’ve raced on the cars has been very life like, but I must say the one i think is closest is Game Stockcar 2012′s Stockcar V8′s.

PolePositionDriver.Com: Well I wanted to thank you very much for your time today, what is the best advice you can give any Sim racers out there to get the most out of the experience?

Dennis Lind: Always try to improve and find out where you’re loosing time. The only way to learn is by improving and finding the limitsIt was an absolute pleasure speaking with Dennis Lind and we wish him all the best in his current and future Motorsport Career.

Dennis Lind’s Previous Motorsport Achievements:
2001/2007 – Karting
2007 – 2 Appearances in various Danish Rally Cross championship races.
2008 – 2nd overall in Formula Ford Denmark.
2009 – Danish Formula Ford champion.
2010 – Formula Ford Euro-Cup Winner (Duratec Class)
2010 – Formula Ford Festival winner (Duratec Class)
2011 – ADAC Formel Masters
2012 – Swedish Camaro Cup Unclassified in championship
2nd behind Jan Magnussen in the Danish Thundercar Championship (Camaro Cup)For more information on Dennis Lind be sure to check out the following links:

Hey All,

I used to offer this a number of years ago for a few teams and wanted to try pick it up again.

I have done web development in the past and wanted to offer help and support to any teams that may want to set up a web site or forum.

I can even help with getting a host setup and web site domains if required.

If you don't have too much of a budget as yet i'm happy to allocate a sub section on my web site for you to use free of charge as per below:
teamname.polepositiondriver.com

I've always tried to be a Community player amongst the lfs members and do right, so please feel free to ask if you have any questions at all

Quote from R3DMAN :yea, but lets be honest, there is only really 1 search engine everyone uses..

i wish you the best of luck.

One thing I always remember is that while there can only be a first place winner in a race, it doesn't mean any of the other positions are any less important. The point was that they contributed to the overall race. A race wouldn't be a race without others also taking part.

Have a great weekend and thanks for the best luck

Quote from Sueycide_FD :I agree with redman to an extent. However, i use virtualr for mod and game progress news. Bsimracing manages to do the same but come through with obscure mods that are excellent but not in the spotlight.

PPD just can't compete unless you make it like the name of the site suggests, which is a site specifically on sim racing news and results with an occasional game update or 2.

Yeah everyones entitled to their opinion for sure, but think about how many different search engines or businesses that are out there in the world. Many do the same type of work but not all may do it with the same passion, or enthusiasm. Many of which are very successful,

Also consider how many different general news web sites there are, each with the same topics but people are going to certain ones because of personal preference and enjoy the way something is written, for this reason I am sure my site appeals to lots of readers.

Its not always about competing against something else either to be more successful, since were all in it together as a community and do what we enjoy.

Quote from R3DMAN :Im a realist, comes with the territory. Im not one to sugar coat stuff.

I said if the site was updated more often than virtualr it would be a possitive. Its my only gripe with virtualr.

I'm not sure I need to justify the purpose of the site. It is what it is.

I'm a realist too and no matter what you do in life you can't make please everyone and I think in this case i'll keep doing what I love.

I think its best to just let me have my off topic thread and negative comments out, as the point was to share a link with some fellow sim racers not to try convince every person that its better than another site because its updated less or more. It is what it is

I'd want people to like it because I am the one writing the articles/news, and that I take the time to research the news and post as much quality as content.

Thanks

BmxTwins, Mate long time no speak how are you? Thanks for the comments

Do you remember we used to do web hosting in 2009 for your team web site? That was really awesome fun.

I'm happy to help again if anyone wanted to get a team web site going, my web development skills have got a bit better since then.

I can help design and implement your own blog Style web site or forum for your team free of charge too. All you'd need is web hosting and a web site domain.

Remember you drive an Opel, not an Vauxhall.

Thanks Dennis93

I was suprised R3DMAN had such an issue with my post here. I thought its best I won't give his posts anymore attention.

As everyone knows they are welcome to go or not go to any web site. I am doing something I love, sure there is always other sites just like there are other simulator titles around but LFS devs didn't worry about that and kept with it. If there was only one site for each topic there wouldn't be much variety.

Anyones free to check out the site. I hadn't found any particular news to post in the last week relating to LFS but when I do find some i'll be sure to put it up first thing.

Quote from R3DMAN :Isnt this just a copy of www.virtualr.net?

I am sure with the many sim racing sites out there that there would be some similarities but no it isn't a copy. I spend several hours a day building up content for it and joining in races as I do it because I love sim racing and the communities amongst it and will be sure to continue.

I used to dedicate heaps of time to do photoshoots for members on here as a fun service to get some shots of them racing using a combination of fraps and the first person camera shot (real time too, I didn't use replays) and used to send em out.

Any of the older members from that time would have remembered me.

I haven't been on for a little while but I thought there might be a few more positive comments for a fellow sim enthusiast.

I've always received good responses in the past from my contributions to the lfs forum (and its contributions to me which had got me into Sim Racing in the first place).
http://www.lfsforum.net/search.php?searchid=5147071

Its true I did forgot to put LFS on the link list but I pointed out my mistake and added it straight away.

Quote from Framaris :It is a bit sad that your ''sim racing links'' or your ''links'' button doesn't even point to LFS site...any reason in particular?

You make a great point, I only started that particular list recently.

I have made sure that both LFS and the LFS forum are on there now.

Thanks for pointing it out

I was curious to see how you went with this. Did you end up getting a g27?

I've seen G27 wheels second hand a few times in Australia go for as low as $120-150 USD so i'm sure you could find a g25 for less.

Dear Pole Position Driver Community. We first wanted to thank you for your support. We are updating today with some unfortunate news, PolePositionDriver.com is now closed down for good. We had huge pleasure in bringing the latest news to the community, but in all our efforts to bring new fresh content to the Sim Racing Community, there are 2 Sim Racing sites which have consistently been able to bring the Latest Sim Racing News for a number of years now and I do welcome you to visit them. They both do a fantastic job and I am more than confident they will be able to fill your Sim Racing News Needs.

Thank you once again for all your Support.

Back to the future?

I think compared to many of the Sim Racing Games out there, Live For Speed always has its own aspects which I still believe other Developers may have not concentrated as much on it.

For example,
The great thing about the "locked" no mod style approach has mean't that everyone can join without the need for a certain version (except maybe a LFS S2 Version) to join to a server.

LFS still to this day provides one of the best drifting simulation around, even if someone took a small break from LFS they would be sure to play it again in the very near future.

New car content would be nice eventually but I have to admit there is a fair selection of car variety, and for a FWD hatch there is always the XF GTI.

I think the biggest thing at the moment would be tracks, the current 7 tracks are varied but it would definitely bring in some new life and bring out some new race/drift/cruise locations.
