I mean both my laps and total race laps like
lap 5/20
I usually race for something like 100km with friends, that makes someting around 18-25 laps, so keeping a count of it in one place with positions and gaps would make it very handy

TBH I do not want to display a lot off panels with lots of info like every split and so on, I would prefer to use just the info I really need, and the positions list, with keeping the gaps updated in realtime in all sectors and showing lap times is perfect, I find it much better to drive, especially in longer races, with information dispaly limited to the stuff that I really use

and the other sounds simply do not play, I used a sound simply re-exported from Audacity as a wav to make sure it is ok, but the only one that plays is notify.wav, if I change that it goes silent (yes the files are in the /snd directory)

a small suggestion: if there was a number of laps on top of the drivers positions list it wolud be great, now the only place where you can find the number of laps is the panel with all the info like gear, rpm, my drivers name etc.. but driving with cocpit view I do not really need this panel
and with the laps counter in the race positions panel it would add, I thnik the last race connected information that is missing in there

and I'am also having problems with using other .wav files than the default notify.wav, any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

I do not know the program
but if you go to LFSmanual, and chceck the host setting section you will find a link to portforward.com, and over there just find your router, choose LFS and you will get screenshots and description of required settings (I had no idea there is such a thing before) for free, it really should work if you follow the instructions over there

And I am going to disagree with the part where it is not difficult, I've done quite a bit of network programming with TCP and UDP protocols, and know some, though not everything about how things work. However, I can _not_ get my connection to forward my port properly, and I've put in plenty of effort trying. I believe it may be ISP related, though I can't prove that.

with your problem I would suggest calling your ISP and simply ask for help, even if you simply missed something on your end than talking to someone who understands the problem may really help, maybe it the ISP itself, maybe it's your router that is causing problems, in both cases they should be able to help you

and by saying it is not difficult I made a general assumption that you are at least familiar with home networking basics, and your network conditions are "standard" ones

do you mean PORT forwarding?

if so just search for a thread about setting up a host on your computer, it is not difficult, all you need is to follow instructions

and the whole thing is more related to general internet security than LFS itself

simple search and 15 minutes of reading and following simple steps will solve all your problems

Quote from nightojnr :Ok ok hang on a sec, impossible is a very strong word. How could it possibly be impossible. Subcontracting could be an option. The whole overall thing is if Bathurst was in this game i would say 100,000 more people would become new to this sim. i can nearly gaurantee this.

I say it is impossible "only" with the current developement model...

...subcontracting would be changing it...

...and the devs do not want to do that

I'm not sure if you are aware of the fact that LFS is done by 3 guys only, that is why it goes so slow, but that's their project and that's how they want it, sure they are balancing on the line between a private hobby project and their commitments to their customers but paying for it you simply agreed to this model

that's how it is simply, but if you really want to do something about it do not post on the forum, that won't change anything, but:
1. talk to the track management, show them the game, see if they are interested at all and how they want to participate
2. and then if you have something in your hands try contacting Scawen and give him something to think about

just DO something if you think you can

considering the distance from UK to the track it is simply impossible for it to make it to the LFS with the current developement model

the only chance would be if the devs decided to subcontract some of the content creation but that is one of the things they are trying to avoid in the first place

Quote from The Very End :One thing to, race lenght does not allways means cleaner racing. The T1 idiots will still wreck you, no matter if it stands 1 or 10000 laps left.

But longer races does seem to attract other people than the normal asshats, so overall it helps.. just wanted to point out that often it does not help

well, we are having a comfort to run in series so we apply penalties voted after the race, that makes our racing quite clean, rubbish but clean

but I think that you are right, even on a public server, longer races would attract drivers who want to spent these 30 minutes on the track to build up their moves and feel the taste of winning, the others will simply be bored and go away

races around 30 minutes are great

we are having these kind of races in our private "league" with some friends (the ones from the "real" world ), we are having a 100km race first and then a 40km with reversed starting order (works fine for 7 cars on the grid)

we are generally rubbish, but a race around 30 minutes is something completly different than a 5-lap Aston Club public shoot-out

you start thinking of your tires, you start assesing others weak and strong points, you start calculating how much risk to take in order to go faster or safer, and you deffinately don't want to end you race in the gravel after a 30 minutes fight

so if you are having some spare servers set one up for races around 100km, maybe some drivers will like it too?

and of course +1 to the first post, just like they say: leave the space for 101% width of the opponents car, not less, not more

well... as a customer who could be interested in the service I can not tell that your website was very helpfull

both as a web professional and customer I would expect from the website to answer questions like:
- how many slots are these LFS servers?
- what are these InSim options (race/drift/cruise?)
- the prices for InSim are for what period?
- where are the servers located?
- where is your comapny located, who am I paying to?
- can I check the service on any LFS server hosted by your company?
- how does the server set-up work look like? what kind off access do I get to configure and run it?
- what about the replays?
- what about Airo?

propablly more experienced LFS admins could create a more complete list, but that is what I'd like to know before we choose a company to host our first team server

your pricing looks very interesting, but it could be hard for you to sell anything if people like me have no idea what they are paying for, and I'm really looking forward to get some answers

quite impossible do to this kind of effect right... the only thing that could work would be only same slight motion blur on the side edges off the screen, but only outside the car (not the NFS way for sure) but that would also fail as soon as you decide to look right or left to chceck on the car next to you

just like someone wrote before, some nice weather effects will add so much more to the graphics than any kind of DOF or blur...

Quote from mauro01 :i don't host a server, so i don't edit that line?

yes, you do edit

go to start new online game screen, you will find an admin password there, set the same here and in your config file

it doesn't matter if you host a game or not, the insim protocol simply uses admin password in communication

p.s. i think this lfs Stats didn't work on win 7 64 bit....

not your game password

your admin password, the one you set up when you host a game on your machine

are you sure you have changed the TCPmode to false?

the begginnig of your config should look like:

#### CONNECTION CONFIG ####
# Host IP.
#Host = 213.161.203.35
Host = 127.0.0.1
# Insim UDP or TCP port.
# Before starting LFSStat you must configure LFS server to use this port for InSim.
# You can do that in command line when starting LFS (/insim=29999) or in talk window of LFS (/insim 29999).
Port = 29999
# TCP mode.
# true if you want to use TCP
# false if tou want to use UDP
TCPmode = false
# Change Password to match Admin password on LFS server.
Password = yourpasswordhere

do not touch the rest of it and it should work

Muchas gracias!

so finally it works, running on Vista with no problem

didn't test to much with fastforwarding, but both LFS and LFSStats work flawlessy in background and I only need it for races for up to about 45 minutes so I simply run it and forget about it for some time...

with the ability to customize the the HTML templates the software is GREAT

just one conclusion on my own experience: some info about troubleshooting included in ReadMe would be nice

playing the .wav files, as they are directly from the folder works fine

I was wondering about some LFS sound settings that could have messed something up but the only thing I touched was adding a channel with music for replays to test it.. and I think the PitSpotter was dead before that change

well

just checked again with all LFSRelax files new, just changing the admin pass

and nothing changed

everything, except PitSpotter talking, works

anyone else having problems with PitSpotter going slient after last LFS update?

mine stopped talking at all however the LFSRelax itself is running, it "just" got silent

i did change the line:
ViewCollision = true
and the screenshot shows what it dispalys

the question is if this is the correct way it should display these distances or not? and what could be a couse of PitSpotter going silent then?

Quote from przewodo :Hi! Thanks for the tips!
Let me ask about the tips.
1: "you could configure which "boxes" to display or not". What did you mean about display or not the boxes? Actyally, the number on () on the right side of the player name is the number of pitstops that the player had done.

2: "there was info not only about a gap but also what was the difference in last lap between you and next/previous drivers (just like in F1, showing if you are catching or loosing time)". This is very good Idea. Becose the gap only shows the diference on the split times. What do you thing about, Display GAP for 5 secconds, before that, change to the LLD ("Last Lap Diference) for 5 secconds and they still swapping this infos?

3. it was showing penalties pending next to pitstops done on drivers list. Actualy, we dont show the penalities, but it is a good information to show too. We are put this tip too on the list!

Thanks a lot!! We think that everyone helping wich this way, we will buil a powerfull software.

1. by the "boxes" I mean the block of information grouped visually inside one frame, like speedo with rev counter for example, IMO having another speedo is not that necessary, and the more the app will develop the more free space will be needed to show new info, so some people will probably want to give up some info to get more celar view on the one they want

2. hmm, not sure if constant flickering is the best solution, it will always take some extra time for you to find out which value is currently dispalyed, and if it is not the one you wanted, than you have to chceck again... i think the extra info would easily fit under the current gap display, if you just make these underlining arrows shorter, just show the difference in last laptime, with + and -, as this will be more usefull for longer races i don't think you have to worry about comparing every sector, at least for now

3. cool would be perfect if every penatly had its own notification like (DT) for Drirve Through and (SG) for Stop and Go for example
pandera
S2 licensed
cool idea, especially the race info part, kind of info you would get from your race engineer, and this is much more interesting for me than a big rev display
so IMO it wolud be nice if:
1. you could configure which "boxes" to display or not
2. there was info not only about a gap but also what was the difference in last lap between you and next/previous drivers (just like in F1, showing if you are catching or loosing time)
3. it was showing penalties pending next to pitstops done on drivers list

and it wolud be simply perfect if you could stock setup changes for the next pitstop in it before the race, beacuse changing tyres, cambers and pressures in LFS while driving is kind of tricky right now
this would make it more kind of a race engineer than telemtry tool which I think would be even more usefull

PS
the fuel info part is a brilliant idea

not slagging you, just posting my opinion, like people do on the forums

and good to know it is just a misunderstanding, based on the fact that the word think was used in quite a long sentence, separated by a few other statements

so my mistake, sorry, and I am very happy about it
