Quote from Scawen :I, 1, l ... they look too similar and we like to avoid confusion if possible! Smile

Meanwhile, I remembered "J" is the key to perform hyperspace jump in the original Elite. Same speed LFS is performing now Big grin

Monster FPS update! Great for low end system users, great for high end systems with uber high resolutions and multi monitor setup. Even future Rift gadgets. Stable high FPS, looks good, sounds good, feels good!

I got around 50-100% FPS boost in most cases, pushing me past the magic 60 FPS number so I'm a happy camper Smile

I gotta ask: what happened to "I" version? Apple said No? Tongue

Just noticed that in windowed mode LFS doesn't limit FPS to 60 while v-sync is ON, as indicated by in-game FPS counter in the top corner. Instead it uses FPS limiter option right bellow v-sync. Once I shift+f4 back to full screen it goes back to normal.
Couldn't tell if it was just an error in FPS counter display or v-sync was really not working as I couldn't notice any screen tearing during my short test.

I'm unable to test exactly which patch changed this, only that it happened somewhere in between G3 and H4. Somehow I keep forgetting to backup full patch exes. OS is Win7; GPU drivers are set to application preference.

I may have read something about this before so my apologies if it has already been discussed and explained.

I have gotten ludicrous amounts of FPS with H5. +50% higher! Laptop can now finally "relax" when I v-sync the excess FPS away Thumbs up

No idea what you have tap into but patent that stuff Big grin

Quote from Keling :A sim's accuracy may be good or bad, but why would it be "inconsistent"? It's not like the math would change itself at random.

Inconsistent in terms of end results when e.g. going through a corner. The math is the same but the starting variables reset often due to player interaction. Those interactions change the outcome every time they happen.
The higher the calculation frequency the easier achieving similar end result is, even though getting starting variables to same values gets harder. And opposite with lower physics calc. fequency.

Virtual pilots lacks several sensory inputs (visual, audio and tactile fidelity) compared to RL, lowering his ability to predict and reacts. So, the inconsistency is the combined result of player and Sim physic interacting in suboptimal ways. This is what I had in mind.

Can inconsistency happen without player interaction? Besides RNG or simply bad physics model nothing comes to mind atm Smile

Shortest answer I can think of: Sims are inconsistent in terms of simulation accuracy so you being inconsistent is normal. Sounds right? Smile

To get consistent you have to get faster. To get faster you have to learn game mechanic and acquire exploiting car setups for given Sim. To do that the fastest way is to talk to a lot of players playing that Sim. And praccy a lot. Being fast will make your laptimes consistently fast when accounted for mistakes which just gotta happen.

Mainstream Sims are not at a level where you can use real-world experience to be as fast as in real life (to me, LFS came closest). So being consistent in real environment automatically excludes being consistent in virtual environment. Until stuff from 2nd paragraph happens.

4) FULL VERSION (273 MB) - If you are new to LFS or making a fresh installation.

- Click HERE to visit the download page and get the full version installer.

Download mirror #4 - Sweden,
this link still downloads LFS_S2_6G_setup.exe version.
LFSWorld - download WR replays : ALL

http://www.lfsworld.net/get_allwr.php

Link is fine but there are 140 WRs missing in the zip file. Some like BF1 on SO2,3,rev for example. I believe it should contain 940 replays if I remember correctly.

With the coming official Westhill release and old Westhill WR replays probably getting wiped, this is one of the last chances to download most up to date and complete 940/940 WRs. Please look into if you can make them fully "complete" part Smile

Thanks!

EDIT: oh yeah, mentioned this here as well:

so if you read that, this is about the same thing and can be ignored.

Hate to be that guy but is it too late to ask you to switch the two Westhill tracks short naming schemes. So that International WE2, which resembles old WE1, is named WE1?
International to WE1, National to WE2, while switching the order in track list too and keep the rest as is. Please guys, it's killing me! Smile

For Victor:
Hoped to get all WR replays before the Westhill ones get wiped, using this link:
http://www.lfsworld.net/get_allwr.php
but there seem to be missing quite a few of them. BF1 on SO2,3 and rev for example (isn't Westhill related yet). I managed to get 840 out of 940 replays half an hour ago, but as of now thee are only 800. Could you please take a look? Smile

If anyone else got the most recent 940/940 I would appreciate that too! Thanks peoples Thumbs up

There are some debug messages popping out in chat while driving through different path sections on open configs (attachment). Not a big deal for now but I assume you will hide them when official patch hits?

FPS have increased in similar situations - up to 33%, from 60 to 80 (single car on track, no AIs on open configs)!

After you unlock don't close the game, shift+f4 or alt tab, then go into data/misc folder and backup f1,2,3.xyz files. Those ones contain all unlock information for your game on that system. It's not necessary to backup whole game for this one reason.

The other thing that came to mind is to check how your power options are set up (in control panel). You might want to play with some options there. Switching from balanced to high performance solved at least one type of BSOD for me.

You card is several generation behind the current one so be careful when installing new drivers. Make sure they work for your card. And never install beta drivers unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Perhaps googling "bsod win2k.sys" can give you more directions how to deal with the issue. Certainly more than I could Smile
Anyways I highly doubt LFS causes it because it's very cleanly coded in terms of crashes by now.

Amount of RAM and VRAM?
How large is your pagefile?
Perform chkdsk in case of CRC errors, as well and RAM check.
Might also be voltage related since it only happens when HDD and possibly CPU goes into overdrive. But not sure.

Chrome is a memory hog as is every damn webkit crap browser Frown. It might be that your system handles large data stream bursts load kinda weirdly.

Also, ignore OS reinstall suggestions as your first option as they are the dumbest advices 100% of the time.
Besides that I don't know what could it be. Good luck.

Thanks, interesting read.

From that I gather it's real-time computational physics in conjunction with simplified tire geometry model, similar to LFS I presume. If that is true then those change logs like "Improved tire handling of XYZ car" without detailed explanation of which tire parameters were changed will be impossible. And it would show a step in the right direction in the virtual sim world.
In contrast to that a very bad way of doing it is having per-computed values in a table somewhere and having formulas to pull those values and output them in sim environment as necessary. Indicated by aforementioned change logs. Another strong indication of that is when simulated object is behaving unpredictably and suddenly.

The reason I think it's the proper way is because of how simple the tire model looks. It's even simpler in geometry than of that in LFS, but which allows more physics based calculations on that simpler model. If for example the model was high geometry the running physics would result in a screenshoot generator. The CPU limitations still forcing a subtle balance there it seems.

I guess they have their own virtual tire rig on which they base accuracy of the in-game low geometry model.

Basically what Jack said, except it's not the server that is doing the kick/bans but the addon that's installed on it. Try to find a server without this addon installed or the one which has better addon setup.
Addon name is Airio. It interprets communication between you (and your online stats), while driving and the server. It can be set up so that it removes lagging people or even the ones with low mileage (among many other things). It has many benefits though and is popular, but it is very rare to find a properly setup one.

The AA you mentioned couldn't have been a low mileage ban for example. It was either you lagging too many times or simply that admin didn't like your driving.
The Drag - lol. I've been around 7+ years and have zero understanding of that community. Who knows what ticked them off there
