Thanks, I can confirm it's fixed

Now excuse me, there's just one more thing (homage to Falk ).
As mate noticed the laps aren't counted correctly (same track - AU1X). We did 3 races, 3 laps each and the LFSW shows only 3 laps total, as can be seen in the screenshot in first post. Start positions haven't been changed so I don't know what could it be. Just that we're each 6 laps short.
I can tell you that it's not connected to my drag stat reset as guy i raced against has 3 laps counted as well.
LFSW: wrong autocross race stat
Nilex

So I raced around on Autocross (AU1X - open config) but lfsw recognized it as a drag race
I remember there had been talk about lfsw support for open config race stats and that's fine. But I was suprised to find out to have some drag stats which i made effort not to have
Don't know if is lfsw bad or LFS just sends wrong data, or maybe it's correct data because you have to put stat somewhere from what I understand. Also, maybe the open config part screwed it (AU1X, instead AU1). But Drag? Bah..

Last but not least: could I ask for removal of my drag 5/4 to my beloved snake eyes?

I'm aware of that post and have written this having it in mind. It's like a expansion of sorts of his idea and any other.

I don't see a reason for forcing a warmer ban on all but the f1/gtr class. I guess it depends on the rules of the competition if they would allow it or not. Warping a heating rug on a uf1 tire - it's not exactly cutting edge science only reserved for the most expensive cars/competitions.

So I'd say it's a matter of personal preference, ergo - optional

Meanwhile, some new ideas sprung to mind and that is to make warmer temp insim readable. So that programmers and admins could potentially force a race starting temperature. Perhaps, even read the ambient temperature form the location of the fictional virtual track online that would determine the starting tire temp? And so forth...
Tire warmers online too (optional)

Although it was introduced with specific purpose only to hotlaps to skip watching the long tire warming procedure, I'd like to agitate for online introduction as well.
It brought something I overlooked: big advantage for new WRs that cannot be countered by human ability to heat tires, separating the hotlap in the class of itself. This is true for every single WR because warmers heat tire uniformly equal whilst the human cannot do that. We are limited with what temperature is maximally acceptable by the most exposed part of the tire to the tarmac.
I'll give example: lets say we warmed tire to 100°C which is ideal, manually it would look something like 90-100-110 (more or less) because of the camber setting. Less grip on the outer rim, ideal only middle, too hot inner. It's very discouraging to compete with a handicap.

I will present my own multiple views on this, both positive and negative, in attempt to paint the whole picture.

The main reason I want this is only so we can compete with WRs online as well. This is currently impossible for the reason I wrote on top. So why don't i just go hotlap? Well, I have no good arguments against that, only moaning :P
Not only for me, hotlaping is out of the question for three reasons: cheating, full setup stealing & it's damn boring to drive alone. Only thing left is online
We drive on a few good, clean servers, where mature, fast and funny people venture (some weirdos too) so it's never boring. But we like to compete... allow us tire warmers pls

It would be enabled for all cars that have it enabled for hotlap and for everything: practice/qual/race (selectable?). Upon pit-stop one could choose new freshly warmed tires (selectable temps?). Same with car reset (not selectable).

Oh, i mentioned negative eh, bah. Ok well, driving on cold tires might get pushed aside - noone wants to compete handicapped. There are competitions that require players to go trough full circle of practice/qual/race with full rely on driver skill, without any help. For these situations maybe a server side option to disable warmers? If it is enabled then admins can choose for which part(s) - practice/qual/race.

Adding an option would no doubt separate the community even more. For example like force cockpit view did. But, on the other hand, it would connect those with similar thoughts. Like force cockpit view did

Hey i have a crazy idea, let's stick to original theme;
Quote from Scawen :Thank you all for the feedback and discussions. I think it is all done now, which is good because I have a few more things to do before the incompatible test patch can be released - I do expect that to be this week. Please do try out the hotlapping changes when the test patch is released, to make sure the system is well tested before the official patch.

After two days, this is the point we have arrived at...

Tyres section in garage - settings for tyre warmer temperatures
You can load a layout in hotlap mode (may include start position)
NOTE : LFS World hotlaps may include start position - not objects
Hotlapping is possible on open configurations (not for LFS World)
Reliable detection of wall side impacts (e.g. at South City)
Pit stops are no longer available in Hotlapping mode

and leave the rest for the right time & place.
I know we all feel that we're helping, but we're actually making it worse. Wait for it. Step by step. Be patient.

Let's test our own suggestions/reports when they arrive, ok? (yeah, that's a fukin retorical 1)

Button clutch exploit (although these are cheats, not exploits):

Two purposes:
a) ease of use
- normally two key presses at same time are needed for gear change (shift) to be successful: upshift/downshift key + clutch key. This is not easy when multiple fast downshifts are necessary (braking). But, by using 3rd party application to create a macro that emulates two presses into a single key... becomes easy. There's absolutely no way of getting rid of this exploit, and detecting it is nearly impossible. Not all is golden for these cheaters as there are some problems with it.

b) faster clutching
- max button rate is 10, right? Wrong.
There's a hack that raises button rate to whatever... and causes no OOS errors. This is potentially detectable.

And apparently exploit that kart-36 mentioned above:
1) You start your hotlap with AC enabled, once you start the lap you click it off, and you can use the clutch (which will be on a button) and LFSW still thinks your using AC.

And that's that.

Now some personal opinions if i may:
This is a pretty big issue that's caused by only a handful of personas and since there is no official statement of what the hell a cheat is community is only barking at the sky and no action can be taken. Hence my reluctance to speak before. My concern is that you try to fix the issue of cheating before you know all the facts because it could lead to some bad decisions.

So i recommend you drop this for now and open a new topic later, when or if you feel ready. Where cheat can be defined, where the terminology could be standardized (is important cause members have been calling the same thing many different names) so that legit stuff don't become a cheat two posts after. Where community could contribute on a solid foundations.
I should also tell you i'm talking about subtle cheats that bring 0.1 sec/1 min, it's up to you to decide if that's worthy of the time. I remember we had Victor's announcement here on the forum to report any cheaters if we see them; that was about those blatant supersonic cheaters. They pretty harmless ever since ban button was invented tho. That 0.1 sec are killing it, not those that we can see.

About cones in hotlaps, maybe there could be a limited number in official hotlaps, like 30 objects including the start position? I realise hotlapping isn't exactly comparable with something in the real world, but if you did set your car up and warm its tyres in preparation for doing the fastest possible lap, probably no-one would object if you would put a few cones around as well.
...

No cones in lfsw HLs please.
While the pre-warming of the tires was a good concession to make the replays more focused on the hotlap, introducing cones under the same argument is clearly wrong. It would be abused like Fox 2 cleverly noticed.

Also, I understand you plan to mark the start position by some cones or whatever? We would then need to plan about where to put it so it's not on the ideal line for the actual hotlap. Isn't it more prudent to make it invisible? For example similar to invisible route checker that's only visible in shift+u. Something like Hotlap start position where you select place and orientation.

There is no universal optimal temperature that would accommodate all combos so forcing it would be a bad idea to the current system. Even adding an option for it would mean it would work for only part of the combos which would look as a half-finished quick patch. No go if you ask me.

The slider however is a great idea and looks like the best thing to do. Since it's complicated to do it probably means we would have to wait for it. That's no problem. Better to do it right first time and improve on that if the need arises.

Also, I would like to mention the questions of the complexity of the slider - something to think about for the future:
a) symmetrical or asymmetrical, or even individual tire setting?
b) setting individual parts of tires (all three)
c) limit the temp setting range to avoid people having to watch bullshit 200°C hotlaps
most important for me:
d) separate profile for each car (maybe expand the profile to include other stuff unique for each car: FOV, button rates, mouse steering ratio, and so forth... there are suggestions about this)
less important:
e) separate profile for each tire (for example: road / hybrid / R2 / etc)
masochist style:
m) for each combo (you select combo and slider is already set at user preference)

Custom starting position looks fine and i have no objections against that. Although better to make those universal just for LFSW so to avoid some bullshit that comes to mind. Or make them movable between last split and finish - still talking about only LFSW HLs. How universal i don't know but the people can have their say.

Although it looks i have only 3 uploaded hotlaps true number is around 100 times more as all i do online is 99% hotlap with people that do the same. So i'm 1 experienced mtf

One more thought: probably good idea to make starting temp readable by insim thingy.

Still waiting for that. Since day 1...

EDIT: Maybe worth thinking about adding profiles for those settings. User could one-click switch between different profiles for day/night combination in-game and real life (e.g. less brightness when it's dark outside, etc)

If I'm correct this is related to that bug I mentioned there.
Quote from Scawen :
Multiplayer :

CTRL+SHIFT now displays time and date in all multiplayer replays

Firstly, thanks for the fix Really bugged me that one.
Will time and date be shown in the old replays where it's currently missing, or will it affect only the new ones, made in Z30 and after?

Also, I disagree with the way the time and date would be shown. It's because it should be shown by default, like it is now. Let CTRL+SHIFT show FPS instead (also like it is now). Simply because when something interesting happens in the replay I would like to know when it happened as oppose to how many fps I had at that moment. Other reason is time and date present there in the corner clearly distinguishes mpr from a spr without the need for ctrl+shift. OR, as I just realised... 'Options - Misc -> Show time instead of FPS' determines what gets priority and what gets crtl+shift'd, hm? Mine is set to [yes], yours probably to default [no].

Anyways, nice improvements for a few weeks of work. Some useful stuff
If all this is done in a few weeks time then that tire thingy is pretty damn hard stuff, eh?

I think it's credit related. I'm using Scawen's no-credit exe to test but I get the same message for the car above my credit cost. Although I can select them in the garage but can't join on the track.
Try making sets for XFG and XRG, do they work? They require no credit. If you can it's definitely credit thing.
You have few options: race for credits, hax them with the file cfg.sta (link in 1st post), or use the patched file (only XP, link in 1st post).

Funny this is - I just drove MRT fine 1 hour ago and now i get that "Could not load settings - using default"

EDIT: credit limitation only affects single-player

I would suggest you check the event viewer before doing anything else (Start->All Programs->Administrative Tools).
Note the time of the freeze and investigate what applications were running at the time. Go from there.

I'm telling you this cause I had similar problem myself (freezing) and after event viewer told me googleupdater was trying something, I went to investigate. Turns out I uninstalled it long ago but that didn't stop it to put itself into windows scheduled tasks, with the mission to update itself every hour of every day :detective. No problems after it got purged out of my pc, which was two-three weeks ago.

In your case it could be some applications clashing or whatever, doesn't hurt to check

Although, it must be said, 5yr old pc can show problems that come with aging without any symptoms and suddenly . Do a hard disk scan to check for CRC errors, memory test, graphic card temp test, etc... whatever you can think of. Maybe you could pinpoint the problem.

You have to upload it manually via http://www.lfsworld.net/. Open 'S2 Hotlaps' icon and goto 'Hotlap Charts' tab, click Choose button and select your file.

You can press 1 or 2 (during hotlap, after you've made The lap), both will work, and at least one lap must be HLVC-OK'd - fastest OK lap will count as your hotlap. I recommend you press 2 and name the file as you wish so you can find is easier when choosing it for uploading. And finally, it's location is in your ...\LFS\data\spr\ folder.

I think that's all

MPR replays - missing time stamp [fixed in Z30]
Nilex
S3 licensed
Time stamp, when present, is always located in top/right corner of the screen when watching a multiplayer replay. It gives an exact time of things happened in it. Not to be mistaken with local time which can be displayed in the same place; check attachment so see what I mean by time stamp.

From what I could figure out is time gets stamped at the beginning of a qual/race. So, if a player connects to a server in the middle of either and saves a replay afterwards but before a new qual/race is started, replay will not have a time stamp. This kind of replay will only have current local time displayed which is meaningless.
When a player that records a replay is present in the server when a new qual/race start - time is stamped properly.

I'm under impression that this is bug and time should get stamped in both occasions. This bugged me for a long time as I thought my LFS is broken somehow but I finally found what causes it. Also, I don't know if it's worth mentioning but my own replay saving is set to manual (options - game).

All said was concerning MPR but for SPR is interesting too as time doesn't get stamped in either occasion which is strange. Would be cool to have time stamps there aswell.

I got the same problem - XP, Opera 10.51. I get similar results as you do just so you know, only difference is my lfs wont run but instead I get 'Invalid command line' in a small window and LFS process opens as well (about 4.5 MB).
There is way to bypass it however, maybe you discovered it already. Simply delete the protocol. Then, after you click the lfs link click yes - but leave the question that appears unticked (so that the protocol doesn't get added automatically). It's not the most convenient method clicking yes every time, but at least it works.

I remember protocol was indeed working in Z27, but I can't pinpoint if it stopped working after Z28 or Opera new version (didn't use links in Z28 at all until I read this).

If you manage to solve this please let me know.

Z25-Z26 report
Nilex

Hi, Win XP:
installer (the Z25-Z26) works flawlessly, aswell as file associations, but connecting via URL link in Opera doesn't (check after quote). One thing I noticed is that README_Z26.txt wasn't created.
I plan to keep my last LFS version of current physics and install new full patch in different folder, so one quick question about how file associations will be handled with multiple LFS installations:
- after new patch(s) installation, will the associations (should I chose to install them) then be tied to that new LFS.exe location?

Quote from SiL-X :Opera didn´t work here!
If i install Z26 it works just ONE TIME!
There is a entry in Opera (Watch attachment) with a %1 behind?

Confirmed, I'm also using Opera (10). When Opera asks you 'Do you want to proceed?' and you tick on 'Do not show this dialog again' before clicking Yes - Opera automatically adds protocol but with the '%1' at the end. After trying to connect second time you get 'No registered application for this extension' error message. If you leave 'Do not show this dialog again' unticked before clicking Yes - then it will always work.
But if I add 'lfs' protocol in Opera manually, or edit the existing one (with the '%1') by tieing it to LFS.exe myself - then it works fine. Only then the grayed out location with '%1' remains visible and can't be deleted - an eyesore (attachment, don't mind folder name saying it's Z25 - it's patched to Z26). Would be cool if possible to fix.

Quote from N I K I :Since I sow like million posts in Z19 I thought someone has noticed, but now I see Z20 and same problem is still there. I drove just XFG a little bit last night, so I don't know about other cars, I guess they're fine.
I found this little bug, this sign on dashboard for headlights is kinda blinking. I also noticed this happens only with bigger FOV than dunno like 90, so here's a little photo of the problem attached too.

Hey N I K I! No, it ain't a bug, just a hardware limitation of the monitor. On a wider FOV the icon is much smaller so lets say 40 pixels are trying to render what 80 should do. That is why some detail is left out. When he g forces affect the camera view position the icon is drawn in slightly different position. That, along with the loss of detail makes the icon to be drawn without some of the little blue lines in one frame, and in the next one they're back but others are missing. It appears to be blinking but it's not.
