Quote from Valkyrie :This is the fastest and simplist way

ok first of you need to config your router to get access to you router
you need to open up your internet explorer then put in this ip
http://192.168.1.1 you should then get a control pannel etc you need to
goto the advanced then Virtual server and put you pc's ip in the DMZ
then apply setting and you done (just remember to remove your pc from the dmz when you have finished)

to find your internal ip go to control panel then network and double click
on your router or modem then select support and it should show you in there its normaly 192.168.1.2 if there's only 1 machine connected.

Now the server config i have attached a server config to this post
that i know works and is a standard set up all you have to do is edit
the name to what you want and thats it run the server and your m8 should be able to see it in the list. you won't cause your hosting it
you will need to go to join a specific game then local network and put
in your internal ip and the admin password the port should already be
in there and away you go

WOW thanks for the replies. I'll check it out when i get home

Cheers

Is it possible some of you computer experts could write a beginners guide to setting up a host?

Perhaps update the lfswiki with ALL necessary settings, because its a bit of a mine field to get through!

I for one am still struggling and would really appreciate some simple instructions on router/firewall/port settings etc.

Thanks

mmmmmmmm i'm not sure his type of 'work' (?) is appreciated much in the UK. He's got his head too far up his own backside.

Still he's got the attention he so obviously craves.

the funniest bit was the fact he did it in the US this time and not the UK.........
I wonder why?

Quote from thisnameistaken :My new one is a DFP bought from ebuyer.com last December - yes it's great thanks

The broken Driving Force I got from JustDeals is still here under my desk - I'm using its throttle pedal as a clutch. I suppose I can't complain paying £10 for a clutch pedal really, but I was annoyed with them because they're obviously quite deliberately selling supposedly-"refurbished" kit without even giving it a cursory check to see if it works or not. I would strongly recommend you don't buy from them.

THANKS VERY MUCH for that, they always say if it looks too good to be true then it probably is!!

Quote from thisnameistaken :Mine was knackered when it arrived. I'm not the only person here who's bought a duff wheel from those guys either; so did Bawbag, and Rtsbasic, as can be seen in this thread.

Interesting....

Is your new one OK?

Quote from bal00 :That means you're running an S2 server, which a demo player can't join.

To open a demo server, you can either select demo-mode on the first multiplayer screen or use a dedicated server.

Thanks for responding!!
I've downloaded the dedi server and installed that on another PC.
I'll try later

A friend of mine has just installed the demo and loves the online driving.

However he is a complete KB newbie and been harrassed online, so i would like to set up our own private online game so he can learn the tracks and driving techniques?!?

I've visited the thread about port forwarding and set that up.

My problem now is when trying to connect i get this message

"host has a different game code"

BTW patch u installed on both machines
I'm S2 he is demo

Any ideas

Thanks

Quote from danowat :Pre-patch there was never even a remotely full LRF server, last night there were 2, heck people were even struggling to get into the one I was on.

Hopefully the new patch will open up more variety, not sure I am a fan of Aston North though

Dan,

what don't you like about it?

Quote from tristancliffe :
But for some reason people don't mind all the good/super cars becoming sanitised. That's why I love the Stratos and the Miura. Uncomfy, heavy control, hot, totally impracticle, but go like the clappers (in their day) and look like Sex on Wheels. THAT is what a supercar should be. Not a trumped up Ford Focus with bling all over it.

how about a TVR , shame they are closing the factory down in Blackpool

did that alot last night at as north in the lx6, seemed out of control in a controlled sort of way.......?!?

i think the lx series are fantastic now

the 6 is still a beast, but controllable, it doesnt seem to eat the tyres too much either. i'm no drifter, but this thing just glides around the corner sideways around the long curves of this track, i'm off to find some more!

Try this (my hosted version) : http://www.ppcsystems.co.uk/LFS/LFS_S2_ALPHA_PATCH_T.zip

Thanks very much!!

I think its a problem my end as it still didn't work.

Quote from danowat :Looking at your picture it looks like the download has cut off before the file is complete, you have 23.5mb, and the patch is 28.5mb, try a different mirror, or a download manager like getright.

Dan,

Thanks for the quick reply Dan, just a thought, I'm hiding behind a poxy server, would that cause the problem?
