To do a Button - be very hyped up and over-rated and deemed to be the next best British Driver, and turn that into 1 win in 6 (?) years and blame it on the car.
I play RACE alot, and I love it, especially online and in the community I'm part of we often get 15-20 people in our server who are all there to get away from public servers.
Good fun, the most under-estimated sim IMO. Yes it has bugs, but see through those bugs (major ones have been fixed, and there's a patch coming soon which in theory fixes steam failures in online racing). It has big potential, I'll be getting the Caterham addon, and RACE07 when it's released.
I jump around servers quite alot when I see a combo I like, and I very often see people saything things as quoted. It's not really a rare thing at all, it does happen alot, and I'm really sick of seeing it.
What's more frustrating is that half the time it's the accuser who's at fault, NOT the 'noob' (as they call the person they just took out).
I 100% agree with you. I've been wanting to put a post in like this for ever, but I've been somewhat biting my lip for about a year now.
This is still a great community, that is if you've been here for more than a year. But the bashing of new players, even people who post things in the wrong section on a forum. I know someone who used to not know how forums worked at all and didn't have a clue how to use them. Took me over a week to tell them how they work etc - mainly because they keep forgetting things. These people might not even know how to use the search function, or know where it is.
Has anyone got any information about the BT home hub?
I'm looking to get away from Pipex ASAP as they've put my connection on a 15GB bandwidth limit without letting me know - I've also been told I'm on 8mb (and am paying for it) when I'm still getting 2mb speeds - the exchange is about 50m away from my house.
Also I'm sick of their packet shaping at peak times, despite them claiming they don't.
I'm looking to change to BT, and they don't seem to do bog standard internet anymore, and only want to do it using their home hub. I'm a bit curious about their Home Hub and have a few questions as there's bound to be people here who use it.
Does anyone use one? is it good or bad?
Do they work with media streamers properly? (my dad has a Netgear MP101 streamer)
Does it have a built-in firewall?
Can I forward ports easily if needed?
Does the phone through the internet take up much bandwidth? (ie. will it lag me out of online games when my mum uses the phone?)
Does it have UPnP abilities?
these are the only questions I can think of for now, but I may think up of more later
If you knew what they were doing last night* I think you might change your mind (joking)
*they (me included) were doing drag racing in fully restricted fully ballased UF1s and reverse drag racing in LX4s - was such a laugh, and so much fun too
Alex: all you have to remember is those days are really over. As much as I'd like to see them for myself I can't - videos/dvd's/any media from those days are long gone. Bloody safety, who invented it?
For now we're stuck with what we have in tin-top series. Although it wouldn't suprise me if touring cars got more powerful as car development continues and safety increases
+1
But Alex wasn't too bad, at least he's explained himself and given his opinion in a fair(ish) way.
but my opinion is that BTCC is the best thing since cheese (I'm not a sliced bread person)
Actually, the 94 Season review mentioned that the 1994 Ford Mondeo Touring Car was just as fast around a track as the old RS500s (I am right with RS500 aren't I? - it's before I was born)
If I'm not mistaken these days touring cars are just as fast, if not faster than they were back in 1994.
Also what's interesting is that everyone here says it's not as good/clean as it is in the mid-90s which I just watched the season review of ('94), and saw there what we see today contact wise - I have '96-'06 season reviews on VHS/DVD and I'd say all those seasons are as rough as each other. You're the first one, Alex, who's said it's actually better in the 80s.
I'm sick of these F1 bashers constantly having a go at touring cars. You like F1, we like touring cars/tin tops. Leave it be, and stop butting in with these arguments all the time.
My view of F1 is - full of Politics, overpaid drivers, boring racing, drivers who are too scared to overtake.
Yes touring cars are rough, but it also produces overtaking and some of the best racing (IMO) in the world.
WTCC uses a system where the top 2 finishing cars of each team/manufacturer score the points, then the rest of the points for teams/manufacturers follow on as if the 3rd (or 4th etc) cars weren't there.
Well it's obvious that by the time we see a season 2 there will be 32 cars possible on the grid. So keep it to just 1 division and on 1 server.
But, one thing I'd like to see is this:
Drivers Championship (everyone can compete for this)
Teams Championship (for teams with 2+ cars - if they have more cars then the highest 2 finishers score the points)
Independants Championship (for single drivers in the series)
First 2 are obviously the same, but the added Independants championship would give the drivers without teams something to go for as they're already at a disadvantage because they don't have team mates to work with.
Another thing I'd like to see is a different points system that only goes down to 10th place, or something similar. Gives the people just outside the points places something to go for.
With the points system in Season 1 it was too complicated, the numbers were too big. Something with smaller points would help us non-mathematically minded people know how many points we need to beat certain drivers by.
For main drivers Championship I suggest something like:
1. 15 points
2. 12
3. 10
4. 9
5. 8
6. 7
7. 6
8. 5
9. 4
10. 3
11. 2
12. 1
Fastest lap: 1
Pole Position: 1
Then for Independants would be based on the position as if there were no 'teams' in the race:
1. 10
2. 8
3. 6
4. 5
5. 4
6. 3
7. 2
8. 1
I hope this made some sort of sense, I'll cut it short there as I now have to go to the Job Centre. So I may add to this later.
Well I am a Jason Plato fan, not because he hits everyone, but because he can overtake people - and he's a very nice down to earth bloke too! Yes seeing the highlights from Croft yesterday he did drive into the back of Turkington. But we don't have access to the telemtery and sometimes the sound sync is well out with the picture, so you don't know what happened.
To be honest, there's 1 guy 10x worse than JP, and that is Matt Neal. I've lost count of the amount of people he blatantly shoves out the way, then acts innocent/blames someone else.
I was at Croft yesterday for the 10th year running, and I really enjoyed it, I was sat at Sunny and watching the cars through the Esses and Barcroft is amazing, especially the speeds they go!
Worst part of the day was my hayfever, the pollen filter on the air con in my Yaris is knackered, so coming back home on the A67/A68 I had to pull over until my hayfever calmed down a bit.
I also wonder (a bit o/t) why people decide to drive at 45-50mph on the A68 at 8.15am when there's no other cars around? one guy was a bit cheesed off that he had a Yaris overtake him and magically went back to 65mph keeping up with me after I passed him.
