on old SO with everything on max (without AA) I used to get 80-90fps, with 40-50 at the back of a 20 car field. Even with media player, MSN, xfire and irc running in the background.

Now I've just come off CTRA server which was on SO Town Rev, I was 17th on the grid out of 19 cars, and I was getting 8fps, and when everybody braked into the hairpin this dropped to 4fps. And this is even after I closed every single background process I could! (apart from irc).

Without any cars on my own I get a stupidly low 20fps.

I have lowered graphics settings (full size textures = no) which has no effect in the slightest.

My computer has been upgraded (from AMD XP3200/1GB DDR400 to P4 3.06 with HT/2GB DDR400) since then so in theory I should get better performance. It's not my graphics card (GF 7600GS 256mb) that's the problem, I know that for certain. I've also tried with Hyper Threading on and off, with no difference in the slightest.

I'm quite annoyed as South City contains most of my favourite configs and I cannot drive it at all!

From what I've heard from alot of people they're suffering much the same things I am. NOT all of us have high spec computers, and not all of us can afford it (I run a car which uses most of my work pay!!).

This needs sorting ASAP I think.

I couldn't care less to be honest. F1 has bored me for the last 10 years, I can't see it being any different for the next 10 years

Ford offered me a courtesy car when I had to get the window mechanism of my Focus fixed... I was offered a 1l Ford Ka (aparently all their under 21 customers get that)... my mate had it 2 weeks previous, and knowing how he drives (he told me he got it with 200 miles on it, and pretty much destroid the engine when he had it), I passed up the offer and made them pick it up from my house instead. They also dropped it off again free of charge.

My dad drives a 2005 (55 plate) Renault Laguna 1.9TD - it has been dropping to bits since hitting the 20k mile mark... he's getting a Ford Mondeo Titanium X as his next company car in July though.

My mum drives a 2005 (55 plate) 1.3l Toyota Yaris. I used to drive that car after I passed my test 2.5 years ago until I got my Focus (03 plate) 4 months ago.

Insurance...

I'm paying £1200 on a 2003 1.6l Focus, which is cheap... The next cheapest quote I got was £1800. And that is fully comp with 2.5 years driving experience with no claims.

Imagine how much a modified car would be on the insurance... As anything modified on the car has to be declared. If you don't do that it invalidates the insurance, so technically you're not insured.

TGL is a new driver with a BMW... I don't want to know how much he's paying (or going to be) for insurance when he passes his test!!
