But lets compare the starting grid and the final positions:
Start Finish 1 Hamilton Hamilton 2 Alonso Alonso 3 Massa Massa 4 Räikkönen Räikkönen 5 Heidfeld (Retired) Kovalainen 6 Kovalainen Trulli 7 Vettel Webber 8 Trulli Vettel 9 Webber Fisichella (started 10th)
Vettel lost two positions and gained one due to Heidfeld's retirement.
Nice come back from Fisichella though after he went in the gravels.
I'm also experiencing freezes and loops especially when:
I join the track
I change car
I'm spectating and a driver who is using a high resolution skin I have in my skins folder is joining the track
The track and/or weather is changed (I've even lost connection twice on a track+weather change)
The problem with the !near command seems to occur when it's used by drivers who are not driving the default car set in the lapper config.
It doesn't really stop the machine but it's causing a serious mayhem in the connections, network bars are either full up or full down, half of the field is getting timeouts and they are not able to rejoin because they always get a timeout.
All of these symptoms vanish as soon as I stop the lapper.
Yes they do. Even the crashes that you can't see.
It seems that there is an area around your car in which calculations of what is happening on track do have an impact on your FPS, even if you can't see the events occuring.
See above.
When you approach the final chicane at AS3+ you can see the whole straight, the pits, thus the cars leaving the garages, and you got the calculations from the cars coming up hill because they are close to you, even if you can't see them.
With patch X and the new Insim we are actually testing different things (how the servers can handle full load, how our PC's can handle 32 cars races, how our new system works, how the new Insim can handle full load, and much more).
So our servers are actually wide opened to full max connections and 32 cars on track.
We will reduce the number of cars on track soon, 32 cars is just crazy and almost impossible to play especially at the start.
Not everyone wearing a [CD] tag has admin rights. In fact very few of the CD members have admin rights untill this will be implemented.
Admin is not a job, we are not paid for doing that, in fact running servers cost us time and money and we don't earn anything from ours servers.
We are doing our best but we have only two eyes for 32 cars on track. Also, believe it or not, we have a normal life! Yes, incredible, I know... It's not because we are often online that we are always about. You never know if we are watching at the races or not. Big Brother is watching you! But Big Brother is not and can't be about 24/7. Obviously.
Anyway you can kick/ban vote on our servers. People who can't drive and other idiots usually get kicked or banned quickly, or they will leave by themselves. For some reason there are always guys who can get proper races and who often finish in the top 5 positions. Often the same ones. Skills ? Luck ? Both ?
We are going to run a licence system soon where you have to earn points on the public servers to be allowed to race on the reserved servers. More news to come soon, stay tuned.
We are doing all of this because of the passion we have for this game. Once again, we don't earn money, we don't have sponsors, and we can thank Birder for spending so much time, thus money, and for all the criticism and pressure he has to handle as the owner and founder of ConeDodgers.

Now that I'm forced to use patch X, I have paid more attention to the sound (notice, not the sounds).
I think the left to right short delay used to create the pseudo stereo when using the cockpit view is creating phasis problems to the whole sound thus makes other sounds hard to heard (skids, horns, cars brushing a wall, etc...).
In chase view the engine sound is centered and everything sounds much more clear.
Phasis problems create holes in the stereo image and are also destroying basses and trebles, which is exactly what we have now in cockpit view: no real center, lack of 'body', strange high frequencies. If you still have a version < U31 just compare and you'll see (hear) what I mean.
Still, I'm not talking about a specific sound but about the whole global sound.
I'm not sure we can solve that with the Shift+A settings as it seems to be hardcoded.
When logged in as admin, the /restart and /end commands have no effect if no one is on track.
They become active as soon as someone is joining the track.
Keep the focus on the simulator, no problem about that, but do not remove options like the 'old' reset or LFS will just lose a lot of users, the ones who will never win MoE and won't even try to do it and who will look for a more 'funny' game.
Games that last long are games with mods because mods increase the number of users.
