i fixed this. i did move abs too left 0 heheheh so it broke. reinstall lfs and script files, fixed.

Ah yeah, that breaks it.
I should probably make a limit where users can't move buttons out of their screen.

I've re-designed various features, and changed the infrastructure of the application. I've had to strip out some features.
Most data is now saved in a local database.

There are some minor bugs i need to get to, but i figured i could release this one for others to use.

Quote from Androphp :I guess this is not a good place to learn programming language, for those who don't know...

Many moons ago when i first started off, LFSExternal was the first library i ever got into. Working with logic and just putting things together was a blast.

While i do agree that making an insim might be a bit overwhelming for someone that hasn't done any prior programming. The chances of success are not 0.00%.

Let me put it this way, for the OP:
InSim.NET is a C# library made by DarkTimes, with contributions from the community. This library makes it much easier to handle the packets between LFS and the insim client. To get an insim up and running, you'll need at least some knowledge from C# or any other programming language. Other than what the others have said above, there's not really much else i can provide.

Best of luck!

As others have said - running LFS through steam as a non-steam game is the easiest way to go.

That's what i currently use on my linux rig, i never ran into any issues after running it for like 6 months.

I'd like to additionally ask another question, does anyone else have any experience with direct drive in general?

Hello.

I don't think you need to worry to much if they're gonna wear out. I had mine on 10%-12% when i was first starting out with my G27 and it lasted for a good 5 years. I spent most of the time drifting, which would also mean a constant steering and use of the gears.

You just need to stick with what feels comfortable to drive with.
Keep in mind that you can use comma (,) and period (.) to decrease and increase the force feedback. That way you don't have to go into the settings every time.

By Logitech Profiler - Do you mean the old logitech software?

They moved all controllers, mice, keyboards etc to a new platform called G Hub, you might want to check that out.

Quote from schouba88 :hello, is it possible to adjust the angle of rotation of the virtual steering wheel? Many thx !

Hello.

That can be set in options > controls. I'm currently not on LFS so i can't tell you exactly what its called, but it should be something about steering close to the top. But i do believe this option is only for controllers/wheels.

Another way to change the steering angle is in the vehicle setup. Its under steering.

While i do also support the idea. Discord isn't exactly considered a social media, in my opinion. Might as well add steam while we're at it.

Quote from tumes925semut :I personally wouldn't want to move yet. Funding, if because of that you have to buy new computer parts etc. shit.

Atleast upgrade to Windows 10, you can get it fairly cheap. If not free.
Obviously i don't know your specs so i can't say if it would run well. But it would be fairly straight forward to install.

Windows 7's end of life support date was 10th of january 2023. Which means you won't be receiving any updates going forward. Potential backdoors and vulnerabilities are open for anyone to use.

Exactly! I have so much respect for game developers. I've done some myself and its so much more than just writing a little code snippet.

Quote from Mr.Kimi :How was it for you Scawen?

I watched the 1st race and it was a nice surprise to see you on track. Also what a finish it was!

They interviewed several players after the race, including Scawen. He did mention what it was like racing again, amongst other things.

Running LFS (client) on ubuntu

Hello.

Yesterday i had enough of micro$oft and made the switch to ubuntu 22.04.
I got minecraft to run flawlessly, along with discord, teamspeak, and pretty much everything else i needed.

LFS on the other hand:
I ran the installer using wine and ran the game too using wine.
But on Westhill i only seem to be getting 120-180 fps.

It should be noted that i am using a high-end rig.
  • 3.6GHz cpu with 12 cores
  • GTX 1080Ti (11GB)
  • 32GB ddr5 ram
It should also be noted that whenever i drive around the map, i get random stutters.
I've been told by another linux user that you get stutters when mods are being loaded as other players join the track.

But there was no activity when i was driving.
Obviously the best solution for all of this would be to port LFS to linux natively, but I'm guessing that will take an enormous amount of time.

Here's a question for the linux guru's out there.
What are some things i can look into to improve the fps?

Quote from Scawen :I don't know what you mean. These new instructions only enable what you can already do in the F11 / F12 menus

A bit emberassing hhaha. This one's on me, i just learned i can change tyres, pressure, camber etc through F12. All these years all i've changed through F12 is the amount of fuel to refill after a pitstop.

Oh my days, after 12 years of playing LFS i keep learning new things. All good then! My gosh..

I've been wanting features like these for years. They're quite handy.
As someone that often just drives with keyboard and mouse, and have one of those 60% mini keyboards. I wouldn't have any space for these commands.

Is there any reason why you couldn't place these in F12, along with the existing pit instructions?
If lack of space is the issue, you could make the F12 have multiple pages.

Though for players that drive with a wheel, i can see that this can be quite handy.

Hello.

I've been driving with mouse for about 8 years or something like that.
These are the best settings I have. It should be noted that i don't race, so some settings may be changed to fit your needs.

I drive with hud view with the mouse always visible (toggle with shift+z, see message top left).
I could never get used to the steering gauge at the bottom, so instead i use the mouse to see where my steering position is at.

Hope this helps.

Quote from Scawen :There is a big difference there.

In the earlier image the interface was confined to the central third of the screen, and the left and right thirds had separately rendered images (at a different angle, designed for a 3-screen setup).

In the recent image the interface is wider, confined to a 16:9 area in the centre of the wide screen. The game image is one single render.

Oh my days, you're right. Thank you! I will be using that from now on.

A friend of mine spent days skinning a mod to prepare for a race and then it was deleted the day before the race.
This is something that needs to be taken care of, or race managers will lose their sanity.

Quote from Racon :I like the idea of locking in the availability of a mod once made public, and/or the last public version if made private. I'm not a fan of the option to make things private anyway (no pros, lots of cons), but that one change would help alleviate this, IMHO the worst problem.

I do partially agree with the first statement here. Perhaps it should be locked from deletion after 3 months? That way half developed mods or abandoned projects can be deleted after a few weeks or a month.

EDIT: On the other hand, there's no solution that keeps everyone happy. Either the consumers will suddenly lose a mod, or the mod authors will lose the ability to make their project private or delete it if they are no longer playing.

Quote from Scawen :LFS has gone into "three screen" mode as the monitor is so wide.

If you want that to be treated as a single monitor, you should set the number of "left" and "right" monitors to zero, as in the attached image.

Yeah there's no difference with that option. I've played with those settings for years.

I've also noticed for mouse drivers like myself when i steer from left to right, the steering only goes from where the insim buttons start and where they end.

I've been playing like this for years, so its not really a big deal. I just thought it was worth a mention Smile

For a bit more clarification, the mouse only works inside the blue container.

Quote from Scawen :It got me thinking, do we need the music player at all? Well... no, we don't really need an intro video, setupscreenloop.ogg and in-game radio system. Smile

I used the in-game radio back in 2010 when spotify wasn't as popular, but these days spotify and apple music is the way to go.
