Quote from Racon :The biggest difference I can see in any of those coordinates is 10, but that is in MCI units. To get metres it has to be divided by 65536, so the jiggle is less than a millimetre in the world space.

It looks like OP might be using C# for his application, so this insim.net method can be used:

var meters = MathHelper.LengthToMeters(12570260);

I don't know if it's just me, but it really looks like half of the car is missing, you can tell by the mirror and the right frame.

I'm gonna be honest, i have no idea what you're trying to say. If i were to take a wild guess here, the "problem" is that parts of the left side of the car is missing when you're looking to the right. As it is "fixed" when you are looking forward again.

This is expected behaviour. I'm praying that this is not the case Ya right

Imagine this;
  • You're scrolling youtube shorts on your phone.
  • As you have your eyes open, you can see the video playing and hear the audio from the video
  • If you close your eyes, you can no longer see the video. This is because your eyes are closed.
...again, this is expected behaviour.

Quote from Bokujishin :Response timing to IS_OCO packets is erratic at best (sometimes the lights switch almost immediately, sometimes you have to wait much longer, to the point that flashing lights (changing state every 0.5s) may keep the commanded light on or off for more than a full second (likely because it does change state at some point, but immediately reverts because of the new packet)).

I very rarely change the trafficlight states any faster than 1s (< 1000ms). You mentioned it briefly;

likely because it does change state at some point, but immediately reverts because of the new packet

I'm thinking this is related to network latency, as i haven't ran into this issue at all with my timers/states. As you already said, it'll immidiately revert due to the new packet arriving.

I was actually thinking about this the other day when i was hanging around drift servers, it would be nice to lock the tire temperatures at 90 degrees so i wouldn't have to pit every other "lap".

Though, realistically it wouldn't make sense to add this "feature" to the game. As others have already said.

I've met a fair share of aussies throughout the years, and they all hung out in the popular cruise servers back then. Wasn't even hosted in OCE.

I remember a few cruise servers being hosted in Australia, but they never really got anywhere since the rest of the world would have way too high ping.

Some of the one's i know either stopped playing video games completely or just moved on to another genre of games. Its sad to see, but it is what it is. Shrug

Hello,

For those who are more interested in the payment - perhaps provide more info on your price range, and possible payment methods?

The insim features you seek aren't actually that complicated code wise, they're real simple. The automatic track rotation may be more complex.
Since this is a drift server, are you sure its not automatic layout rotation? Or both?

Great tool. I see you added all the commands manually to data/commands.ts. It would be most ideal to automatically grab these commands from LFS Manual. That way, you could save yourself some time in the future with that manual labour.

On LFS Manual they are actually seperated by host commands and local commands (and insim related commands) so this is absolutely possible with webscraping the commands page.

But yeah, great work on this anyways.

Now this post makes more sense, yeah..

I'm pretty sure this sort of thing is not possible with AHK, but InSim - yes. I could be wrong though.

If you were to pursue this, you can do this with a client-side insim application. With an added delay due to human reaction time.
These days there are various insim libraries to choose from! Best of luck.

Ah yes, the multi-button text component. I really like those.

Nothing like that exists in InSimDotNet. Ideally, you'd need to make a function for something like that, but absolutely achievable.

EDIT:
If i were to do this, I'd make some sort of ButtonBuilder class which would take care of this. But for the sake of simplicity, a function is best.

Why is this a problem all of a sudden? Its been like this for as long as i can remember.

As a Server Owner, responsibliity is a vital part of that role. Leaking/abusing personal information should have its consequences if anyone were to do so.

Perhaps it needs to be clearer what actions will be taken if personal information were to be leaked/pulished?

I'm thinking about things like:
  • IP Address
  • Identity revealing information (name, address, DOB, SSN)
Alternatively, servers that need additional information (like gathering IP info) needs to request access to do so. This could possibly be done via a form on the forum? This isn't a very viable solution though, as it requires some manual labour from the devs.

From what I've seen, Victor isn't active at all now so this is not an option?

Quote from RealistAdam :One possible solution could be to hide the IP addresses for users connecting to free servers, while still allowing IP access only on rented servers.
...

Quote from RC-Maus :I think those that want to do harm servers can always find out the ip adress.

I completely agree with this, all this change will do is make it more difficult - a determined user will get around it.

I suppose we can get rid of everything IP address related from the hosts pages, but keeping them in the insim packets.

The ip address can beneficial to determine if the connecting user is a shared account with ip comparison. Though personally, thats about it.

It might be the language barrier, but i dont understand what this suggestion is about.

"two players" - LFS is already multiplayer, so you can already play with your friend together on a server.

"wet races" and "wet line" - uuh, are you asking for rain to be added to the game? That's about all i could gather from this single sentence post.

Most Windows users nowadays tend to just use it because its mainstream and it just works.
You don't have to be a tech genius to find your way around windows.

Though for me - there are so many factors that pushed me to move away from it completely and be a full-time linux user.
1) Windows is paid
2) Paid and full of bloatware - this one is redicolous. Atleast offer a free version with bloatware and a clean paid version.
3) Data harvesting - They claim to not do such a thing. Personally i feel this was what they were trying to accomplish with Copilot on an OS-level. Being able to "require" the use of user data for Copilot, but then be selling the data on the side.
4) Multiple control panels
5) Then there are those other issues that has existed for years and is still to this day not confirmed to be patched. Its incredible. My win11 sim-pc got stuck in a boot loop a few months ago and at that point i seriously considered switching that over to Linux as well. Its insane to me that even after all these years they still have not been able to fix the well known boot loop.
6) Micro$oft bought Mojang (Company that made Minecraft) in 2014. A while after this, they got rid of the good old mojang login - where you'd just need a username and a password to log in. They got rid of the old login method completely, so you'd need to migrate to a Micro$oft account.

I could go on, but these are the biggest reasons for me.

As mentioned above, Proton can be used to run LFS and is probably your best bet here.
I've been running LFS for years using proton. I can't say I've had any issues.

You can decrease the steering lock in the setup.

or you can do what i used to do and make the axis ranger longer than it usually is.
The default values for it is -1000 to 1000 iirc

so you can do -1500 to 1500 or -500 to 500 depending on what you're looking for.

I've just tested this and the e-mail went through just fine with a brand new account. Perhaps their ISP blocks off *@lfs.net e-mails? Or if they're using some local e-mail provider, they could be blocking? Wild guesses at this point.

Ah yes. You're using the wrong packet if you're trying to request a list of relay hosts.

This code is used when you are targeting a host that you want to get Relay data from. As specified per documentation.

// Select a host
insim.Send(new IR_SEL {
HName = "", // Host to select
Admin = "", // Optional admin pass
Spec = String.Empty // Optional spectator pass
});

You'll want to use HostListRelay to request data from Relay.

#define IRP_ARQ 250 // Send : request if we are host admin (after connecting to a host)
#define IRP_ARP 251 // Receive : replies if you are admin (after connecting to a host)
#define IRP_HLR 252 // Send : To request a hostlist
#define IRP_HOS 253 // Receive : Hostlist info
#define IRP_SEL 254 // Send : To select a host
#define IRP_ERR 255 // Receive : An error number

You need to send this packet:

struct IR_HLR // HostList Request
{
byte Size; // 4
byte Type; // IRP_HLR
byte ReqI;
byte Sp0;
};

I see LFS is installed on your D drive. Is that an external harddrive? Or a 3.5 inch mechanical harddrive? (yes those old chunky ones). They are good for preserving data, but they're quite bad for gaming as they cause latency with those slow read and write speeds.

I'm not saying this IS the cause, but it sure looks like it.

There have been times where I've run into LOCAL : TIMER BOUNDED myself, and its usually because there isn't a single frame being rendered in LFS. Ideally a total freeze of the computer.

You can verify this by checking the disk I/O latency

Ah, yeah that is likely the /light command.

/light ind [off/left/right/all] - switch indicators/hazard
/light head [off/side/low/high/low_off/low_high/next/prev]
/light [rfog/ffog/extra] [off/on/toggle] - switch fog/extra
/light all [off/on] - all switchable lights off/on at once

Okay, there are apparently other users having this same issue. There's something about v4.6.6 that doesn't work too well with windows. As i am linux user, i didn't get this tested.

The links for previous versions are still hosted, so those can still be used.

I'll return to this issue in a few days.

What do you need help with? Find the mods with open-hood? Do you want to learn how to make mods with open-hood?

When you say 'restore the car faster', do you mean how to reset the car faster? I think some servers can do this with the help of insim, so you'll have to ask on the server you're playing on.

Quote from Litro :No errors

Did you install .NET Core 8 as well? You can easily verify the dotnet version in the terminal (attached image)
dotnet --version

If yes:

Set the insim port in LFS you specified in the insim configuration file (<insim_directory>/Config/Connection.ini)

Set insim port in lfs with /insim insim_port_here. If you're still having issues after all this, and you have verified that you are using the correct .NET version - then you likely have a firewall or additional antivirus blocking the insim from connecting.
