My guess would be, test patch in spring of 2011 (april or may) and 2 months of public testing.
Considering Scawen hasn't reported anything about carcass development, I take that as it itsn't finished yet. After 20th of December, I expect Scawen to stop working and be with his family 'till new year. And if carcass isn't finished, it means the VW stability control, suspension updates and limited setup system aren't finished either and knowing the development history I'd say they'll require quite a time.
Unless Scawen silently finished most of that and is preparing a test patch for us to test in christmas while he is relaxing.
Theres a small chance that we might see a test patch this year, if not, I'm 100% sure we'll see a patch next year. I mean, there's not much left to do.
He said he doesn't want to make reports weekly and I understand him. If I were developing the physics I wouldn't want to say "This week I'm working on XXX" then next week say "The XXX idea turned out impossible" then next week "I'm still trying to figure how to do XXX", and so on. He said he only makes reports when theres something to report, so we can understand this two and half months of silence as:
a) Carcass Deformation turned very hard and still not finished.
b) Silently finished carcass defirmation and started on suspension/VW SC.
Please shut the **** up already with "LFS is dead/will die". It's getting really annoying. You're not helping to speed up the development, nor will change Scawen's mind to release a unfinished physics. I'm pretty sure we'll get updates this year or as soon as early next year, physics aren't developed forever.
Lot of work on physics? Two months ago he said he feels they're coming close, but that was before said about the carcass deformation. Since then he hasn't reported anything, so you don't know how much work is left. He may well be polishing carcass deformation and doing last touches before giving it to their beta testing team.
Damn, it's already been two months since last progress report, and it feels like yesterday to me Hopefully carcass study went well and he's polishing it.
I believe it's because Rockingham is S3 content, and S3 licence needs at least one TRACK and CAR, of which the car hasn't even been annunced yet (Scirocco is S1).
And no, devs haven't quit LFS. Scawen is finishing the physics and Eric is modeling. (or I hope so)
But that doesn't explain the lack of interior updates.
I somehow doubt that by just joining the server they can get your account info, that would be a serious exploit and therefore I'm sure we would (or will) get a patch that fixes it.
Have you ever tested them on any game engine? Not everyone has a i7 and GTX285, and I still very doubt that even 30% of players can run such thing at 32 grid over 60fps.
Do not understimate the PS3's power, it uses the GPU and 7 SPU from the Cell to render, and since everyone has the same hardware, they optimize it A LOT.
You can get the same quality of the car with 50k polys/tris.
Those model are no way EVER going to LFS (or any other game). Simple because it IMPOSSIBLE to handle those high poly models.
500k for LX6?
1million 500k for supra?
Our computers cant support 10 cars on screen with those models, let alone a full grid of 32 cars. Do you want us to play with 0.2fps? Those cars can't be used for games, only for rendering.
