Would be nice to have an option for a proper shift light and big tach - I have a Pro-Comp tach with MSD Pro shift light attached on top of my Daytona dash, a big improvement over the stock location and size
AVG Free, a hardware firewall and common sense, havn't got a virus in about 10 years despite my son downloading lots of open source games and patches through the internet.
Yes, I also know that, I sorted a one-click solution to that after rooting around in the FAQ. After a while I figured it would be easier to just go back to SuSE
Don't get me wrong, Ubuntu is probably the easiest distro to get started with, but for someone that started out with kernel 1.0, coming from a HPuX & AIX background, its easier to go with a more traditional setup.
There's more standards now than ever for it, lol. I love the Ubuntu packet installation system, its slick and easy to use ... but not everything is packaged up as a Ubuntu package
The root access is how MacOS works - ie. its only available to a system process. More secure than Windows or regular root access by a large margin!
Crashday has track creation using 'prefab' units, and has user modded cars. Its also crap.
I prefer the status quo, since its enjoyable and ballanced, and future changes will continue that trend. As stated, there's many track/car combinations that don't get used much - LFS is far from tapped as it is!
Getting stuff that wasn't in Ubuntu packages to run was a PITA, Debian modules are meant to be compatible, but I found I had to spend a while putting lots of symbolic links in :-/
Also, being an old Linux user I really missed having a proper root login
Yeah, Ubuntu is very Windows-like (ie. run it and go), with a Mac style security that stops you from doing anything too stupid. Very easy to get started, not so easy to live with if you're used to regular Linux ...
Thats cool, Lotus 7 meets Pagani The Z Cars twin-Hayabusa Westfield was similarly awesome, but much more simple and road legal ... can't find any photos of it now
Where you guys are talking about an LX8, do you mean a V8 like the Westfield SEiGT (namely a front-heavy tourer), or a car thats actually fast like the Z Cars twin-Hayabusa powered Westfield?
Nothing wrong with the LX4, nice to see a proper rendition of a Locost car in a sim
Most Windows crashes are down to some badly written software that been installed. I have a Windows 2000 Server at work thats not been reset in 6 months with no problems - its had lots of SQL upgrades done, which pushes the hardware ... and its not unusual, the newer servers only need restarting when there's Windows Updates to put on.
Anywho, having had a couple of Macs in the past, and fixing a few over the years too, I've come to the conclusion that I just don't like them. Its the computer equivalent of driving a Volvo 340.
Cautious, I most often get in trouble when braking too early and the car behind me doesn't expect it! Sometimes I get a touch agressive, then I crash and go back to cautious, lol.
On STCC1 I mostly get mid-field despite having the slowest lap times ... I guess that means I'm consistent.
