Quote from klbbadd2002 :Hard swerve. 5tag has a great point and your reply proved it. The to-do list on your desk must look like a picture my 3 year old colored. The 9+ year tyre physics project isn't done but lets make the skies darker guys.

Programming is an art form. You can't expect an artist to constantly produce on a single thing all the time, sometimes you need to work on something else to rest/gain inspiration.

I see this as being no different.

Quote from Bass-Driver :Maybe a "simple" solution:
-Guest must create a account to download LFS content.

- Demo licensed player is only allowed to download the "demo" version of the game ( Stripped version of LFS without S1/S2/S3 content. Only the nessesary cars/track for demo.

- And when the demo player payed for a license they will have access to the full game. Ofcourse with the limitations of S1/S2/S3 content.

Just my thoughts

That's how it used to be (kinda). It's also ineffective because someone can just post the full game on a torrent site or other file hosting service.

Quote from KeiichiRX7 :Also that's not how code works. Both will be merged to the main fork when the features are ready

Unfortunately Scawen's described the current state and there are 2 divergent branches of LFS. The currently public version and the version with new tyre physics (and I presume graphics). There isn't a "master branch" with feature branches for tyre physics and a separate branch for graphics that have been rebased with trunk frequently.

Scawen has stated he wishes to get back to a single master branch again, as currently any "critical" changes are having to be implemented twice, once in the public fork, and then again in the experimental fork

AC is a great sim in many ways, but being able to only race AI in my timezone is a pretty big FeelsBadMan

Sadly the night mods for AC are so impossible to setup. I got it working once and then it promptly broke Frown

One of the interesting ones that I drove was in OEC which was the national infield with only the turn 2 as part of the main oval being used. Pit lane was a bit unorthodox (drive down towards T3 then hang a U-turn where the pit lane) but it worked out well.

Might be worth posting a GH issue to clarify if it is wrong or to get a fix? Valve seem to be relatively responsive to the issues on that repo (and GH in general).

Quote from chanoman315 :Well, the endurance races gather a lot of people. The Daytona 24h had 2k ish players, and average https://iracer.info/statistics

It is the most played simracing game nowadays for sure. I'm happy paying, at least we get updates, cars, laser scanned tracks, and most important, other players to race with.
Racing IRL is expensive compared to iracing so I really don't see a big problem.

Yeah, as much as I don't like iRacing's pricing model or even physics model, it's hard to beat the consistent races with semi full grids at all hours of the day. Where with LFS I have to plan all week for the 3 races I can drive in, and if I'm even 1 minute late, then I don't get to drive any races. Where iRacing I can just check schedule on my phone and ensure I'm around near the start of an event I wish to drive in and get to race against others.

I resubbed to see if the physics got better (they haven't) but I'm still enjoying myself especially as I get to have some pretty interesting races with other drivers.

LFS is still much better in VR (Menus are accessible, graphics are sharper, I can handle a 4 hour session (quali + 3h race) in VR in LFS with ease, where after like 40 mins I have a headache from iRacing

I still don't know what's wrong with their physics though, I started driving the Pro Mazda earlier and there's this really odd "understeer into snap oversteer" that I feel and I'm not sure if it's just bad setup or just how the iRacing aero model is.

Sounds like you might need to calibrate the controller inside of LFS.

Basically "tunings" then. VWS, VW1, VWR

Quote from turbotron :I guess fixing this exploit will require some changes in the client and the master, so a 'useless' update, but I may be wrong, yes.
I understand fully if u see it at evil noise, but on another perspective, its not as sad as the endless waiting for new content. At least something happens wich will make Scawen react, and this, is gold, we all know LFS is still alive when he posts something on the forum... U can't deny this Smile
Who cares 6 more monthes delay anymore ?

It probably doesn't require client update, just updates to LFSW replay validation. I have a sense how it was accomplished (but I'm not gonna test it to get banned).

Probably removing the user missed some kind of database update that occurs when a hotlap is updated.

I know it can't get you back your lost places, but it can ensure that future races will be safer.

Yeah. AC is great but most of my attempts to find organized racing has fallen up short.

I'll share back the setup that V.Laguckas worked on for me in the server today. It feels quite nice to drive.

I'll be giving it a longer test later tonight. I (despite being woefully slow) was able to do a 1.18, but Laguckas was doign mid 1:17s with it, so it can be decently fast I think

A idea like HLTV/DOTA TV would be nice. A single client connects and proxies everything to other server(s) which can each support 100+ connections.

I think it makes sense, especially if it's a feature only via rented servers from the developers. It might not be worth it when you consider dev effort though.

Nice music selection. Not bad idea to practice the track reverse version Smile Maybe we will see reverse RO layouts in the next release? Taped Shut Petals

Probably can't due to licencing. Just like how GT never had reverse forms of their real tracks.

Quote from Victor :Got the same problem. However, I installed libmono-i18n4.0-all which added the missing code pages. Now I get another error though:

Doing a quick search led me to this thread: https://www.lfs.net/forum/post/1937853#post1937853
This might be a problem I cannot fix (easily).
Were these new kernel32 functions added in recent versions of lapper?

EDIT - I wonder if this could be avoided, maybe with a startup param or config variable that enables console events or not. In my case I'd disable them and this piece of code wouldn't have to run.
Maybe I should install VS again .. hmm.

VS Code isn't a bad choice for C#. Don't need the full bload of VS Big grin

Quote from Racer X NZ :Try doing that in NZ !!!!!
Your only choices are new, or Ebay. And who wants to buy second hand from the other side of the world.
Here's Linus on VR. (4 Jan 19)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85DiHTpxGCo&feature=youtu.be

In NZ anyway, there is no VR. No real retail, competition etc. And if you read what I said, It's the fact that VR isn't NEEDED for gaming at the moment. Yes its nice, yes its still being developed, and yes, it still has a long way to go.

Clearly Codemasters feel the same and believe that they will sell enough product without the need to support a still emerging tech.

I'm just happy that they are still trying to produce a decent Rally game, with weather, good physics, and immersion.
I'm much happier with that being the outcome personally.

For those of you that feel that its VR or nothing, more power to you.Na-na

Linus is also known as an avid hater of VR for whatever reason. VR is pretty cool, but needs probably 1 more generation to be truly great.

When their predecessor supported VR (which means they have decent engine support for it), the lack of VR is just weird/silly.
