You are MUCh better off with the DFP that goes for about the same price.
A large portion of LFS users use DFP so troubleshooting any issues is quite quick and effortless.
You car doesn't have a sequential trans but rather an automatic trans with the ability to select and hold the gear.
Partially, your dad is right...most current and "standard" auto+shift trans have issues with being always used in the shift mode.
The mode is more geared toward weather conditions or rare red-light sprints rather then a full-time system and quite honestly, often it's just a marketing gimmick. As you already mentioned that the vehicle is a family car, I'd suggest listening to your dad unless the car is a beemer or a benz or something rather high end, sporty and expansive.
If you want to have fun driving, get a honest to god stick shift and learn to drive properly. It might even teach you a thing or two about vehicle dynamics.
On a side note:
You should never even come close to overreving the cars engine unless you're on a track.
Doing it in normal conditions is not only moronic, its quite bad for your car (esp. a family sedan)
What prevents me from joining is the fact that the races are during the week. Due to the time zone difference, the races take place before I even take lunch at work.
My suggestion is obvious.....schedule the races for weekends and I'm sure you'll have a bigger crowd showing up.
@OP
If you had a nice hatter following, wouldn't it have been a bit smarter to just keep quiet after the return and hope people have forgotten, like they really have?
Since patch Y, the RAC behaves much more realistic and quite a joy to drive.
Hopefully more people will venture into the RAC/LX/XRT world with the new anti GTR slick physics.
The 05 RAC is supposed to be more balanced, they fixed something in the rear that makes the vehicle more stable under weight shifts now, etc.
Minor yet important changes that I'd love to see in LFS. Maybe even get an imaginary RAC "track edition"....ahhh daydreaming again
I highly disagree with you on this as I'm quite fast on all the tracks I hate and almost the oposite on the ones I love.
Not sure about you but not all of us race LFS to win a race.
As ive argued for more realistic tracks for a long time, I won't repeat myself here today.
Faster, better, easier...regardless.
I'm sticking to the XRG and XRT for the sheer rewarding experience. And lets not forget about the LX's!
Whoever is racing LFS for wins instead of insanely fun physics and car behavior is playing the wrong SIM.
If I wanted easy I'd go with the GT series.
You dont seem to understand the difference between a slide, a power slide and drift.
First off, there is no such thing as a FF drift....thats just a slide. Its a valid way of taking a corner too fast and using the tyres lateral grip to slow the vehicle down while keeping the somewhat correct line.
A power slide is breaking a RWD or a rear biased AWD lose mid corner and counter steering while keeping the fast line corner out.
While both can be seen as drifting by your avarage Fast and Furious fan, they are not it, although drift was inspired by power slides.
Just FYI, drifting is not as simple as just going sideways into the corner.....there is a bit more to it.
Just a thumbs up to the OP for making and releasing this insim mod. To me it adds that little thing that LFS was missing. The slower the car the more fun this makes it...XRG on AS cadet or SO is bloody fun.
Would love to see the final version released with the next official LFS patch.
Have you thought about doing the finals as time trial only.
Not sure if its a good idea as it's pretty late here right now but it could add a slight twist to the race.
BTW, I haven't flipped it once during practice runs but thats most likely due to the fact that I'm very slow and noobish in FF cars (real life and LFS)
Id like to be in again as well, but I'll have to confirm it by the end of the week.
BTW, I dont think I even know what that car behaves like so whoever goes against me.....Good Race
I still go for the weight restricted FZR (max weight added to 100% front, 400BHP coming to about 55/45 balance) as that might possibly be the most fun car setup in LFS.
Still, great idea of rebalancing the classes. It sure is to bringe a bit of change to the racing.
I really don't think you understood this thread at all mate.
The poll doesn't lie for the simple fact that it's not asking for a "drift" car but a TRACK car with very good drift setup abilities. There really is a HUGE difference.
I'm not a drifter by any means and neither are woz, xnuse, etc (that I know of at least) yet we all want a TRACK car. The fact that it would benefit 2 LFS communities is what makes this idea so splendid.
If we really are going by what area LFS is really popular in, why don't we just get mini-vans so cruisers have something to chill out in while they park and chat for hours on end. After all, cruise servers get the boggest crowds of them all.
I do have a feeling I just wasted time replying to this as there is those types of people that really don't care about understanding a point and thinking outside of the bloody preset box. I don't care if you dislike something but do it for the right reasons.....not because you can't look past a word.
Ah well...
