You are MUCh better off with the DFP that goes for about the same price.
A large portion of LFS users use DFP so troubleshooting any issues is quite quick and effortless.

Good Luck

Quote from rainspecialist :ok im almost ready to drive and my dad gave me a car (family car) with the sequentail shifting thing. My dad is by the way a mechanic and he said that if i use the tiptronic shifting it will mess up my transmission, is that true? cause i dont wanna buy a new transmission.

by the way the car is automatic and i thought sequential is better than auto and you cant overrev either!

You car doesn't have a sequential trans but rather an automatic trans with the ability to select and hold the gear.

Partially, your dad is right...most current and "standard" auto+shift trans have issues with being always used in the shift mode.
The mode is more geared toward weather conditions or rare red-light sprints rather then a full-time system and quite honestly, often it's just a marketing gimmick. As you already mentioned that the vehicle is a family car, I'd suggest listening to your dad unless the car is a beemer or a benz or something rather high end, sporty and expansive.

If you want to have fun driving, get a honest to god stick shift and learn to drive properly. It might even teach you a thing or two about vehicle dynamics.

On a side note:
You should never even come close to overreving the cars engine unless you're on a track.
Doing it in normal conditions is not only moronic, its quite bad for your car (esp. a family sedan)

What prevents me from joining is the fact that the races are during the week. Due to the time zone difference, the races take place before I even take lunch at work.

My suggestion is obvious.....schedule the races for weekends and I'm sure you'll have a bigger crowd showing up.

@OP
If you had a nice hatter following, wouldn't it have been a bit smarter to just keep quiet after the return and hope people have forgotten, like they really have?

Now you just dug a hole...again!

Quote from duke_toaster :Gentlemen, calm down

Seriously, if you want to discuss the actual events, do so in off topic. And a real moderator would probably agree with me, despite my mod-wannabe tendancies.

You two both know more about the situation than me, for obvious reasons, so I'll shut up (and listen to both of you) about the actual events there and talk about the LFS side of things only.

Please, you're both nice guys and I don't want things to get stupid.

I agree and believe that Victors post about Kosovo not yet being included finalizes this thread; at least for the time being.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Better wait and see the development of the situation, don't you think.. If someone inhabited your back yard and called it theirs would you just accept it? The situation is nasty over here, and let's not rush with the conclusions..

Boris, you must be joking right.
Let's not get into political details here as I might know something about it.

DFP get that lock BS going on once you go 900 but I'd still welcome the change for all Road Cars (-LX, but thats not really a road car).

+1 for the idea

Quote from The Very End :I`m no good at looking those minor detail changes from 02/03 and 05 version of the car, in fact I can`t see any change eighter.
A other thing, I`m not sure it`s popular enough, that it would be usefull using time on changing some details on it. Hardly anyone that drives it.

Since patch Y, the RAC behaves much more realistic and quite a joy to drive.
Hopefully more people will venture into the RAC/LX/XRT world with the new anti GTR slick physics.

The 05 RAC is supposed to be more balanced, they fixed something in the rear that makes the vehicle more stable under weight shifts now, etc.
Minor yet important changes that I'd love to see in LFS. Maybe even get an imaginary RAC "track edition"....ahhh daydreaming again

Quote from Motordirex :BS! We only complain about tracks we arent fast at...I know cuz Im one of them. But Im in no position to point out faults of a track because Im not quick there - its my driving that needs to improve, not the circuit.

I highly disagree with you on this as I'm quite fast on all the tracks I hate and almost the oposite on the ones I love.
Not sure about you but not all of us race LFS to win a race.

As ive argued for more realistic tracks for a long time, I won't repeat myself here today.

Sorry mates, had to miss this one. Why is traffic killer when you really want to go somewhere?

Glad the event turned out good. I'll try to join the next one....no FF anymore please :P

Seems obvious LFS physics arent complete.
FF drifting is still complete rubbish, regardless of that.
Might as well drift a Mini Van

Faster, better, easier...regardless.
I'm sticking to the XRG and XRT for the sheer rewarding experience. And lets not forget about the LX's!
Whoever is racing LFS for wins instead of insanely fun physics and car behavior is playing the wrong SIM.
If I wanted easy I'd go with the GT series.

Something came up so I'll have to drive my GF to the airport.
I'm gonna try my best to show up on time and not ready (as expected :P )

Hope to see you there fellas. Apologies if I don't make it.

You dont seem to understand the difference between a slide, a power slide and drift.
First off, there is no such thing as a FF drift....thats just a slide. Its a valid way of taking a corner too fast and using the tyres lateral grip to slow the vehicle down while keeping the somewhat correct line.

A power slide is breaking a RWD or a rear biased AWD lose mid corner and counter steering while keeping the fast line corner out.

While both can be seen as drifting by your avarage Fast and Furious fan, they are not it, although drift was inspired by power slides.

Just FYI, drifting is not as simple as just going sideways into the corner.....there is a bit more to it.

Quote from March Hare :I'm not competitive in any car so it really doesn't matter much that I drive the XRT.
I just don't like the FXO. And the RB4 is so different to drive, compared to the XRT, I don't want to confuse myself.

Somehow I've gotten this strange fixation in my head that a race car should be RWD.

FWD is for wussies who can't really drive. (Let's see what that comment stirs up )

+infinity

LFS and RWD have nothing to do with fast laps and all to do with pure fun.

Just a thumbs up to the OP for making and releasing this insim mod. To me it adds that little thing that LFS was missing. The slower the car the more fun this makes it...XRG on AS cadet or SO is bloody fun.

Would love to see the final version released with the next official LFS patch.

You can confirm me as well....I'll give FF a shot and watch the races from round two upward

I have a cold but it'll take a fever to prevent me from participating.

Quote from blackbird04217 :Well, the event is in a week and a day. I had a small practice session last night, and will have another one that I will mention in this thread when I make the plans. It will probably be Monday or Tuesday of next week. During the practice session I noticed the cars tend to roll over easily. If you take the wrong line or hit a curb your race is over quickly - so drive carefully. Also there are two good passing places but you need to keep up with the other driver through the chicanes or you will miss your chance. And it is very hard to follow through the chicanes as the leading car blocks your view... There WILL be some rolling cars, I would be shocked if we go through the entire event without a rollover but it will be interesting to watch. In the event that both cars roll over we will declare the race a draw and continue to the next race, (if it was already the second race then the lap time of the previous race is combined with the qualifying time of the driver to dictate which driver has the lowest combined time. If both races end up with a draw (either rollovers or ties) then it will go strictly by the qualifying time. In the event that you do roll over, please do NOT spectate, or telepit... just let the other driver deal with whats in front of them as they would in real life. It is afterall part of racing.

We do need at least 16 people to show up to the event so please get your friends, teammates and others to join!

Any ideas / thoughts on the "Final Round" I still haven't found a good way to run that although if no suggestions are made we will do the same 4 race setup as last time but the Pass to Win will ADD .25 seconds to your competitors overall time. (In effect its the same thing as subtracting but offers more pressure to the leading driver).

Have you thought about doing the finals as time trial only.
Not sure if its a good idea as it's pretty late here right now but it could add a slight twist to the race.

BTW, I haven't flipped it once during practice runs but thats most likely due to the fact that I'm very slow and noobish in FF cars (real life and LFS)

Aww, an FF car....hm.

Id like to be in again as well, but I'll have to confirm it by the end of the week.
BTW, I dont think I even know what that car behaves like so whoever goes against me.....Good Race

I still go for the weight restricted FZR (max weight added to 100% front, 400BHP coming to about 55/45 balance) as that might possibly be the most fun car setup in LFS.

Still, great idea of rebalancing the classes. It sure is to bringe a bit of change to the racing.

Quote from Motordirex :I went onto a drift server last night to check it out. I didnt drift, just watched to see what all the hype was about. All I found was a bunch of guys talking about Britney Spears sister being pregnant, Jessica Biels nipple and how stoned they were. The few guys on the track were just pissing about, no real drifting goin on what so ever. They spent more time in the grass then on the track. 15 people listed on the server and 99% of them using it as a chat room.

NO to drift cars and NO to any type of drifting track. Waste of bloody time and effort.

Sure you didn't join a cruise server....?

Quote from BlueFlame :Read my post again, I did not say Drift cars Existed in the game it seems like you thought I did.(even though, that IS what I actually think)

You can't see the reason that probably demo racers (who are mostly drifters anyway as racing is few and far between on the demo, at least good racing, in the older patches with the XRT ) are just gonna vote yes because it suits THEM, they don't even own the game! There are more Race servers on LFS than drift servers, so when you are saying the poll doesn't lie, obviously it does, if it was 50/50 in reality for LFS, there would be just as many drift servers as Race servers... but that's just it, there isn't. cos the reality is its 70%against drifting 30% for it. The number of servers don't lie, it may even be less than that!

I really don't think you understood this thread at all mate.
The poll doesn't lie for the simple fact that it's not asking for a "drift" car but a TRACK car with very good drift setup abilities. There really is a HUGE difference.
I'm not a drifter by any means and neither are woz, xnuse, etc (that I know of at least) yet we all want a TRACK car. The fact that it would benefit 2 LFS communities is what makes this idea so splendid.

If we really are going by what area LFS is really popular in, why don't we just get mini-vans so cruisers have something to chill out in while they park and chat for hours on end. After all, cruise servers get the boggest crowds of them all.

I do have a feeling I just wasted time replying to this as there is those types of people that really don't care about understanding a point and thinking outside of the bloody preset box. I don't care if you dislike something but do it for the right reasons.....not because you can't look past a word.
Ah well...
