it does not give any advantage, as EVERYBODY can switch on the racing line. so where is the advantage...

i am not a fan of city-driving BUT.

HELL, SINCE WHEN ARE YOU A LFS GAME DEVELOPER?

everyone should be allowed to request whatever he likes. and drift-racing is a form of racing. there are a lot of leagues IRL for this kind of racing. so why shouldn't lfs support this style of racing?

the cruising thing is a different thing but still its popular in lfs, why not support the community with that. although i still do net get the sense of it :/

the "circuit racers" got enough things the last few updates, so now others (RallyX, Drifters, Drag-Racers, Oval-lovers) should get something new in the next few patches.

looks promising but again: "another game addition only for the circuit racers". rallyX-ers, drag-racers, oval-junkies, drifters (maybe they can benefit from this a bit as well),

WE still need to wait for another year to see something "for us"

sooner or later they need to remodel it because falling off parts is a standard in lot of simulation games sins 1995, but yes, its not the most important thing imo...

first we need a proper aero model

@joen

nothing more to add, you have your beliefs i have mine

i think lfs is a great game, thats why i am still playing it BUT as i said before, the time is running against this kind of philosophy at the moment...

i am not one who is shouting for "real cars" i would be happy if we could have two or three new ovals (short-track, high banked super-speedway, d-shaped oval), a decent stock car for ovals (or a modified FO8 with more HP for indy action) and most important the right drafting/aero physics. in addition an automated pace-car. if this would be in the game, that would be like xmas, new year, birthday and a decent BJ at the same time for me.
i would not need more for the next 5 years really.

every kind of group is waiting for "their" features but the last 2,5 years the only one who got really something were openwheel/circuit racers and cruisers.

drifters, drag-racers, oval-racers, rally-racers all of these guys still wait for a single feature in their favor but what we get is: ANOTHER open wheeler, another circuit-track-variation and "wow"new grafics for south city which were produced by the community a year before... ah i forgot the AI and the clutch...

at least we can abuse the AI now as a pacecar for lap 1
and the clutch wear is something in the right direction... what about motor wear, brake wear, damage effecting the aerodynamic, falling-off parts

Quote from joen :The only reason we do not have mods ATM is because LFS isn't finished and the devs have hinted several times that modding MAY become part of LFS but certainly not before later stages in LFS development.

yea... later stages maybe when S3!!! is released in 5 years...

Quote from joen :
You state a lot of things as facts while they are nothing more than assumptions on your end. i don't think you have the ability to read the dev's minds so how would you know they are not willing to create new content?

they did not bring much into the game the last 2,5 years, so why should this change. (BF1 as a present from BMW and intel, and AGAIN an open wheeler with that new junior class thing...)
as i said earlier, LFS is a good game as it is now, because its not complicated to start a race and so on... but i do not think there will be PLENTY of new stuff in the game for the next 2 years. (if i am wrong, i would be glad)
see the fact, the devs made a good game, they earn lot of money, have fun as it is and only bring really new stuff once a year.
and btw. when they brought the BF1, they killed the FO8 in the same moment for a long time (until patch Y... now its fun again)

Quote from joen :
Oh, and BTW, there have been mods for rFactor that got a cease and desist order so your statement/fact about licenses doesn't hold up.

thats true, but who gives a shit, if one mod/track is not available anymore, there are plenty of others. there are like 20 open wheeler mods, 10 nascar mods. its not likely all of them got hunted down and they got NO desist orders for tracks as far as i know. you can find almost every real racing track... (sometimes in different states of time like 1955 to 2008)
some of the modder teams (like iDT) even got an official partnership for their mods like the ChampCar mod they did. they are official partner of champcar now.

i don't think LFS should change in the rFactor way but to be honest 1 new car (again an open wheeler...) and a track variation a year is not enough. if they want, they could have plenty of good car/track designs from the community and even test them before releasing them, but they refuse to do so. why? not because the game is not finished, but because they are happy as it is now.

of course there are plenty of improvement suggestions and with the current tempo of implementing it the game will be finished in 2108. the clock runs against this game which is sad, as i have stated before, its a good game.

hm... i do not pick it over other simulations. its just something other games cannot offer. other games have other advantages and i play some of them as well.

lfs is good when it comes to: "i want to do a quick race online." you are in a race in like 2 minutes. its very straight forward through its spartanic car/track variations, so you do not have to mess around.

other games are more open and you can drive almost every car you like on almost every track you want, with the disadvantage of waiting much much longer until you are ready for a race, and also the messing with the right mods you need to have installed. and to be honest these games give a shit about licenses and this for years now without any big problem so far. (forget the license-fact when reading about mods for lfs, its just plain bullshit, the only reason we do not have mods in lfs is, the developers want to do everything by themselfs and they are not willing to create new content. its NOT about the license costs.)

for a league environment LFS does not offer the same comfort as other games and needs a lot of pre/after work after each event, which kind of drove me crazy sometimes in the past when doing LFSCAR league.

BUT STILL, its fun for pickup or single event races with its limited car/track selection possibilities...

but forget it to post this in this forum... nobody here is willing to accept the fact, that there can be much more achieved in a year then one! "new" car and a plain track variation....

Quote from yankman :Clearly the other guys fault.
With some experience he should have known that the XRR is much slower than the FZR, so it is very likely to get passed when starting
with XRR.
Brakeing at the start is not really option, u would cause a crash yourself.
It is only the last chance to avoid a crash.
I wonder how the "oval experts" here can advice such a behavior.
Maybe lifting the throttle was an option, but when scania moved to the inside there was enough room to pass.

not many comments of "oval experts" here

another main rule in oval racing: keep your line

usually i go to curise servers to give all my money to the first guy that answers me if he wants to have it.

i am not a cruiser, because i play lfs for fun. cruising in games may be fun for a lot of people but not for me. i think this is like in kindergarten. STOP I AM THE POLICE, PULL OVER!

if i want to cruise i'll take my real car for a spin...

if the cars behind are not able to drive 150 km/h without crashing then yes... but the goal is, people behave on the racetrack behind the pacecar

as a next step, penalties can be given out if a car overtakes the pacecar before start finish line

as usual mostly a racing accident IMO.

but still, if you are on the inside, and the car in front of you does not watch his mirrors and pulls down, its his fault. no matter if there is a rule "don*t block the inside" or not.

one of the general rules of racing is still: "if you move your car in a direction, make sure you can do that move without crashing another car" and this applies to oval racing and circuit racing the same.

no, you can send them to spec/pits after passing start finish line with a program.

this is only usefull if burnout rubber on the tarmac improves grip at the start.

Quote from DarkTimes :Thanks for the tip. It's interesting to see a different approach to solving the same problem. That program has a better presentation, but I found it kinda hard to use once I started adding files. It asks me to click buttons and then gives me error messages when I do. I like how LFSPoints never needs to shout at you, because it doesn't let you do the wrong thing (I hope anyway ). That program looks nicer and has more features, but it doesn't make me regret the way I designed LFSPoints.

yes that is true, the rfactor thing is far off from perfect, but it has some good ideas which should be in a lfs version.
btw. on www.lfscar.com (in the GP79 Series) you can find the league results exportet in that program.

things like: race progress graphs, chat log, event management ect.

i think your interface is much easier and handier then the one from the rFactor thing and you are on the right way to improve league organizing in LFS A LOT! if lfscar restarts a league for LFS again, we will use this tool for sure.

tire wear and fuel consumption (or fuel capacity) is far off from the real world. in which 500hp+ open wheeler or GT/stockcar can you drive a track like Kyoto Oval for over 120 laps without pitting for fuel or tires???

at least we have clutch-wear. next is brake wear (should not be that difficult as it is the same system with the clutch IMO...
Fischfix

this would increase a lot of realism. at the moment the fuel and tire consumption suck anyway... i can go 120 laps on the oval without needing a pitstop at all.

scalable fuel/tire/clutch/brake-wear should be an option for the next small patch!

i know a pretty similar program from rFactor. its called Champ Result. maybe you can find some more features in that program...
