Liking the new shadows though. Not quite perfect, but definitely gives a feel of the cars actually being present on the road in shaded areas. Shame I'm so out of practice they don't stay on the road for long

Okay, copying the .con file across didn't work, so I deleted, copied and repatched and it's now working fine again. No idea what messed it up, but it's all good now]

Regarding ISPs: a friend had to endure something similar here, ISPs can suck everywhere as far as I've seen.

My guess is that a car without a running engine would normally move slowly enough that posupdates are enough...if that makes any sense whatsoever.

I tried keyboard / mouse once or twice and found it awful, as I was already driving with a wheel for some time.

For the pedals - look in options, controller, there you should find an "axes" button, where you can set the pedal axes.
You should first uncheck the combined pedals option in the profiler, under "global settings" or similar.
