Quote from BuddhaBing :I've just uploaded a new version of the M3 mod for rFactor. The new version includes fixes for some issues with the AI, a proper driver model in external view, a revised rFm and the folder structure has been streamlined and cleaned up. It should also resolve the missing texture problem that Fabri91 reported earlier. This new version of the mod also has renamed classes, categories, veh files and folder names to prevent clashes with other conversions of the M3 Challenge content into rFactor.

The new version can be downloaded from:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WUPB5G20
http://rapidshare.com/files/57 ... W_E92_M3_rFactor.zip.html

The zip contains a readme with installation instructions.

If you downloaded the previous version of the mod yesterday, I recommend removing the older version before installing this one. To remove the old version, delete the following from your main rFactor folder:

GameData\Sounds\BMW_E92_M3
GameData\Vehicles\BMW_E92_M3
GameData\rFm (I put this folder in the wrong location when it was first released)
rFm\2008_BMW_E92_M3.rfm (if it exists)
rFm\2008_BMW_E92_M3.tga (if it exists)

If you have any comments or questions or want to provide feedback about the mod, post them here.

Have fun!

Thx very much.
How can i remove the very first version of the car, named "BMW_M3"?

I should be able to provide lateral G, "auto" tested it against the hippo-ish S5.

EDIT: still have that error, only with the M3 E92:

Missing texture and material...couldn't make screenshot of the material missing error because it freezed...

Quote from Mustafur :There only shells arn't they so really it has no resemblence what so ever to the road versions, the sedan based Nextel cup cars are 2 door anyway so whats going to be the difference..

btw this coming from someone who hasn't watched an Nascar race for over 3 years..

I thought nascars had sealed doors = 0 doors.
And how can the trucks be faster? They should be aerodynamic shit.

IF the bodyshells start resembling actual cars i'd be fine...or put it like DTM, the shape is that of a stock car, they even use headlights...

I'll make screenshots tomorrow of the error message, now i'm not able to.

Looks like it isn't able to load materials...was it wrong to delete the old conversion?
A texture for a material and 2 "global materials" are missing...

I also tried "Drifting", and tbh racing is far more fun. If you're member of a clan, then, it's fun^2!

The steering steers too much, simply too sensible...changing lock in setup doesn't seem to change that?

For example: i'm a bit too fast, the rear wheels are going to overtake the engine (a bit of oversteer, simply said), i do opposite lock and the front slams to the outside of the corner. It looks like i corrected to much, and the front tires have too much grip while correcting...it's difficult to explain...steering too sensible

MAYBE the brakes should be a tiny bit stronger, but i'm not sure on that.

Oh, there's THAT much choice...lets try:

1. VW Bug
2. 997 Carrera 2 (the 911 is, in a certain way, the latest derivation from the Bug)
3. Ford Mustang GT 1964
4. Ford Escort Cosworth, the last one, with the Whale Tail spoiler
5. BMW M3 E92, love how it looks
6. Range Rover 4.2L Supercharged
7. Ford F-150 5.4L Triton V8
8. Porsche 911 2.0L 1963
9. Porsche 928 GTS
10. Ford crown Victoria MY 2007

The cars are NOT in a particular order. Love them all!

And, yes, i'm a ford and porsche lover!

The car has potential, the model is quite good...it lacks decent physics though...
EDIT: tried Spa, very nice track!

If real cars crash in each other with the same speed, then teoretically they just stop. I mean they aren't basketballs. Obviously with damage varying from nothing (say 2mph) to total destruction (say 100mph).
Fabri91

Thx again, gonna try that...any suggestions for missing damage?

Quote from JTbo :I tested it (rfactor version) and made short 1MB clip of it, I think no challenge at all, see the proof

Yeh, still no damage implemented in this conversion...in the other M3challenge a user has tweaked a bit the physics of the m3 , it's much more believable (car isn't too low anymore and other stuff...)

Have you formatted when you've changed gfx card? Maybe try DriverCleaner and remove any piece of old and/or current drivers, then put the nvidia driver.
Checked chipset drivers?
MAYBE audio card drivers?

Quote from BuddhaBing :I didn't like the way the car handled in rFactor so made some changes which I think improve the feel and dynamics. It feels quite nice with RealFeel now too. The changes are attached for those interested.

The changes include: changing the kinematics of the front suspension and steering, adjusting spring and damper rates, increasing inertia to make the car feel more weighty, revamping the tyre files and a handful of other tweaks.

To install, extract the contents of the zip to your desktop and then copy the GameData folder into your rFactor root folder. Feedback welcome.

You're right...it rides waaay too low, stupidly low steering angle.
Now i'll try your mod

EDIT: done.
MUCH MUCH better, still isn't at the level of the corvette, but now it's much more believable.
Sadly, no skid sounds and no damage (yet).
Maybe someone is willing to do that? Sadly i'm skillless in modding.

I'm feeling like shit if no one nows what happened...

It's strange.
the nextel cup uses avengers and fusions, but the busch series uses stangs and chargers.
Now, the road models of busch cars are more powerful to the ones of cup cars......iirc the cup cars have more powerful engines, but the chassis is/was the same.

IMO they should go back to cars derived from roadcars and the busch ones should be significantly less powerful than cup cars (6 cylinder, anyone?).
Only then i could see a point in nascar racing...

EDIT: i personally would like cars technically similar to australians v8 supercars, derived from stock ones.

Now that seriously is a piece of art!
It surely would be possible to equip it with a rc system.
