Quote from THE WIZARD DK :but it also happens to me in manual

You sure you're on manual?

More than a year ago when I wasn't used to manual shifting I was doing the same thing and I had no idea wtf is going on. People kept asking me if I'm on manual and I was like yea yea sure but it looked like I wasn't really.

Once I switched to manual it never happend again.

As far as I know, SM 2.0 was launched with the GeForce FX 5000 series, which were uter crap exactly as you were saying and I hardly doubt it that people still use them for LFS (OR ANYTHING ELSE) because the performance is so low it makes you want to cry.

SM 3.0 came with the 6000 series which were properly made and they haven't failed again.

If you could only integrate some "thing" into LFS, that will send you a full report of the PC config of everyone who goes online ingame at least once. I don't know if that's invading privacy or not, but I think it would be helpfull to know.

Quote from Flotch :this can be a test patch ...
or even an option, no ?

Or maybe this. Source engine by Valve is a good example. You can pick the way you want the game rendered by starting with DX 7 to DX 9.0

Quote from denis-takumi :Shader Model 3.0 appeared in 2004. It is 10 years ago!

- reduces resource consumption GPU in complex calculations thereby increasing the FPS

per pass can be applied to a object maximum four light sources. For comparison, the cards that support only 2.0 shaders, each light source requires one pass rendering.

it reduces the requirements for memory bandwidth and performance vertex shaders. And the number of processed triangles can be reduced up to 40%

You can compile TEST PATCH with SM 3.0 like TP with DX9

This is actually very accurate.

A SM 4.0 videocard will get more FPS in a 3.0 enviroment than it does in a 2.0 using same graphical test. FutureMark apps can be used for reference.

Quote from cargame.nl :Hmm I've spoken too soon... You can also use it for tv's. Active 3D tv's like this one for example; http://www.lg.com/nl/televisies/lg-60PH6608-pentouch-tv ... Seems it requires 600 Hz? I don't know, no experience.

My TV is quite old and doesn't support that kind of stuff, but its good to know in case i get rich.

Quote from cargame.nl :* Going to order a pack of anaglyph glasses to see what you are seeing :P

Yeah, its definitely something worth trying, especially when you feel like you're in a fishtank using cockpit view.

Be aware that the colours become kinda dull because of the filters, but its still cool.

Oh okay. Well that sorts everything out then. Bought them for cinema use and it looks like they will remain for cinema use only. Thanks Dave

Quote from Scawen :Left eye must be red and right eye must be cyan. It can be hard at first, to look "into" the screen. It's easier if at first you use a smaller Interpupillary distance (though this reduces the 3D effect). Then when you are used to it, you can increase the Interpupillary distance, but stay on the safe side, less than the true distance between your pupils. Also make sure you have set your horizontal screen width correctly. One more tip is it's easier to learn to look "into" the screen when the image is moving.

Ok so I tried this again on a 80cm tv. At first it was kinda hard. Started to see the "3Dness" when I was looking at the dashboard, but I was basicaly seeing double when I was looking at the cars more than 20 meters away ahead of me. I have played a bit with the screen width and interpupillar distance and now I'm just blown off my seat.

It looks amazing!
You actually feel like you're in there and if you reach your hand, you can touch the wheel or the radio. Really cool stuff Scawen

Also the FPS reduces significantly but I think that makes sense since the engine has to render more identical images. I use a 62fps cap anyway when I'm not testing so its fine.

I also have another type of 3D glasses which have no red-cyan lens (3D master image, see attach) and I was just wondering what's the deal with them. Obviously they don't work, but meh.

I'm just gonna have to buy a better version of red-cyans, since these I currently have are made of cardboard LOL.

Thanks again!

I just tried the red-cyan mode but I can't really see the 3D effect. Looks like the blue shades are ok, I mean I can't tell they are there anymore, but the red ones don't seem to "fit in" creating a whole picture. I can clearly see it there (the conture of it? i think?) bugging my eyes and causing me a headacke.

Do I have to adjust the settings somehow? I even checked if I'm using the glasses properly (not the other way around)

I'm sorry but its late and I can't think of another way to explain what I'm seeing. Maybe its just the small display I'm currently on or my eyes are just broken. Or my brain.

I'll test again tomorrow using my huge ass tv.

Also there is indeed more FPS. Tested with a replay of 32 cars from the back of the grid. Can't tell exactly how much because I haven't done a benchmark, but its definitely noticeble.

Quote from Kristi :@bogdani, comparing games through cheap mods on which developers spent less than a week to code the physics? I guess it's totally legit, not.

Well then, that means modding is pointless since pretty much all the tracks suck and they feel like NFS. Unless someone who doesn't get a dime decides to spend more of his own life coding a track for a bunch of people on the internet.

Looks like it has more grip than FXR in the chicane

Basicaly when running the same tracks in different game engines, you can figure out which has the most realistic physics

I also thing the loading time is his issue. Used to get it too from time to time when I was running like 3 full HD porn movies in background
