Quote from BlueFlame :And that means you can't use analogue speedo?....
You 'speedo' users don't really know what you DO want in my opinion. You seem to say (as a generalisation) that you can't use the analogue speedo, yet then state that any kind of speed reading is SOMETHING useful. Just use what is there. If you can't see the speed whoopdie do. Do you get a speedo on a go-kart? no. you can still do hotlapping their and not need a speedometer.

In a race you are trying to beat other people, in hotlap you are trying to beat a wr, and going at your limits. With digital speedo I can see exactly the speed I have in corners and on the straights. This is very helpful when making setups, as a tiny change can mean you will go either a couple km/h slower or faster. Thus you are able to make a set as fast as possible. And trust me, a couple of km/h can have a huge impact on split times.

I'm a little worried that all this strive for realism will kill the playability and fun of it. And that in the end only those with $1000++ controllers and 40" something screens are able to fully enjoy LFS.

Quote from JTbo :Actually I'm happy with current behaviour at this point, until Scawen does new engine model for some future patch that comes after Y.

I'm quite sure you will be happy with whatever changes they throw in. If you were required to run 10 times around your house before playing LFS, I'm sure you would gladly do it.

Quote from BlueFlame :My point is you boys, that you DON'T NEED SPEEDO'S FOR RACING.

For ordinary racing it's maybe not so important, but it's sure as hell nice to have accurate speed reading when hotlapping.

Quote from mcgas001 :Scawen any idea where Digital speedo has vanished too?

Quote from danowat :It's been removed on certain cars.

Oh crap! I've used digital speedo from the beginning. For me it's much easier to read the speed that way.

Quote from Gnomie :So.. it's recommended to do a clean install of LFS for trying out the test patch? All it says in the official thread is that we "need to unlock again".

While I'd love to try it out, I don't want to mess up my current install..

Copy your current install to a new place, and apply the patch to that one, leaving your original install intact.

Apparently he got a 2nd job, so I haven't seen him for a few days. Maybe he will have some time this weekend hopefully. Unless it's a weekend job, or he's away racing. Dunno. I'm really sorry it's taking so long.

Well, one thing I learned from the video is that Scawen is pronounced "Skån", and not "Skeiven". I've always assumed the latter was correct.

Great stuff! Noticed a couple of cars in the video had "Petter" and "Henning" on their plates. Don't suppose the Solberg brothers are beta testers?

Not been in the situation myself, so can't really say if this works, but might be worth a try.

http://www.acronis.com/homecom ... r/partition-recovery.html

Or it might not...

From the ext3 FAQ:
Quote :
Q: How can I recover (undelete) deleted files from my ext3 partition?
Actually, you can't! This is what one of the developers, Andreas Dilger, said about it:

In order to ensure that ext3 can safely resume an unlink after a crash, it actually zeros out the block pointers in the inode, whereas
ext2 just marks these blocks as unused in the block bitmaps and marks the inode as "deleted" and leaves the block pointers alone.

Your only hope is to "grep" for parts of your files that have been deleted and hope for the best.

Turn off Gear Change Cut, and only fill the car with as much fuel as you need. Downshift a little faster too. You're taking a few corners in 2nd gear, when 3rd gear is the optimal, but that will come when you get better confidence. Else, what's already been said by others, use more of the tracks width.

We're running a couple image mods on our team forum, both for IMG tags and attachments. For IMG tags, it only resizes the image if it's over a specified horizontal dimension, one that would break the layout. If it's not over it, the image stays as it is. We also have a lightbox like mod for the image attachments.

Quote from The Very End :Not snow in Norway yet, but have to say it`s been a hell of a bad weather today. Wind and rain, making it impossible to go outside without 1 - getting blow away 2 - wet to the bone 3 - or a combination of them both..

Umm, plenty of snow up here in the northern part now. Dropped like 20 cm or so the last day.

Hmm, I've set up server #2 and #3 without any spectator password. I see there's another server #2 online, and I don't know who's set that up. Please shut that down whoever did it. Server #1 is setup by Clownpaint, so I guess he's the one that added a spectator password to it.

Edit: Odd, server #2 is listed twice in the spectator, one private and one not. But in LFSW it's only one #2 showing...

Edit 2: Disabled insim relay for #2 at my end in LFSW, so now it's only one that's showing. Guess someone else added it to the relay then.

Edit 3: Argghh! Can't connect to those requiring spectator password, and I have no idea what the correct one is. So, please those who connected them to the relay, remove the password.
