Quote from jur :I have a question. I'm using LFSLib to develop my first insim application and I'm stuck on figuring out how i can track a car's driven meters. Also, i wish to have some track length, so i can know how much progress a driver has made through the track. Or maybe there's some other way to have this info. Thanks for feedback, LFS programmers!

Driven meters:
I have made this. I did it by summing distances between successive points where the car has been (IS_MCI). The greater the frequency of the mci packets, the more accurate the distance is. But it is never 100% accurate.

Track lenght:
You cannot really compare the driven meters to the track length. This is because the driver might have been making just donuts and not even trying to drive a lap. Besides the track lenght the game informs is not that accurate and depending on your driving line might be tens of meters off the driven lap distance. If you want to follow the progress around a lap, you should use the nodes.

Yep. Maybe I should also point out that Atari is the publisher, not the team who made it (afaik). If the game is faulty blame the team who made it.

Atari has published at least one Firaxis game and so far every game out of them has been superb (the old MicroProse wizard Sid Meier works there).

Oh yeah, I had Flashback too in Amiga. It had that main theme music which reminded bit Terminator (2?) movie. (You can google the music files and play them in Winamp if you like, but I'm not going to post here direct links to files which are possibly copyrighted. But you might want to check UnExotica :tilt

I also played Syndicate quite a lot in PC.

EDIT: Just remembered the Alien Breed games in Amiga and PC.
EDIT2: Star Control 2 in PC

It doesn't work in hotlap mode. You have to go to single player. Also click the "edit objects" button on the left bottom corner to read "yes".

Quote from Crazy Harry :Give me a call after you domesticated a lynx.

"Get the dog!"

If you ask me even the cat hasn't been domesticated. Cat just uses us dumb humans to feed and treat them like kings.

I have seen in TV (animal planet or something) where people have raised cougar kitten inside. You don't have to wait even to full size when the damages to furniture and house in general become so huge you have to throw it outside (into a cage). If you have had a cat you know you don't want to mess with a berserk feline

Correct.

I thought better post easy than hard, or this thread dies completely.

Looks ok. Check these:

- In winamp/options/preferences/plugins(general purpose)
There should be "UDP Controller v0.224". Double click it and check
if there is client information (connected=yes, ips, etc).
- Especially if the above didn't show a connection. In LFS, type "/o vcom radio connect"

Vcom establishes connection to the player only when vcom is started. So if the player wasn't on, when vcom was started, you need to type that radio connect command after the player is on. That's why it is better to start the player you are going to use before vcom (but it is not needed as explained).

Also to type commands in Vcom...you need to have a player 'connection' in the game (it checks the person who typed the command has enough rights to invoke it). When you start the game and you are in the main menu there might not have any connections. Try go first into a race/hotlap etc entry screen at least.

If that sounded difficult to understand, it is actually really simple when you get it.

EDIT: lol...did I really use over 20mins to type the answer...didn't see your answer before this. Well, good you made it work

Quote from MonStarr :it gives me some messages about the configuration file. and it doesn't seem to work, when i try "/o vcom radio next" winamp doesn't respond. I'm using v5.24.

Did you copy the dll and ini into the winamp dir? If you use the 2nd method (window class or name), you cannot send commands to Winamp and that case you have to use global hotkeys (see Winamp preferences/global hotkeys). In the first method (with dll winamp plugin) you can send commands to Winamp without the need of hotkeys.

The list is warnings about labels it cannot recognise. Currently I hardcoded the car radio IPs into the code (as 127.0.0.1 because any other IP wouldn't make much sense). You don't have to care about those particular warnings currently. It reminds me about what I should still make. (I get the exact same warnings myself)

I hope this thread didn't die.

Because there is no response from the previous winner, I think I can post this.

more advantages for cats:
ARE funny
ARE cute
whenever you come home they are happy usually (especially if the feeding time is coming or the litter box hasn't been cleaned :tilt

NOTE: Cats try to look cool and do not show their happiness so clearly as dogs

What kind of event you mean. Do you drive e.g. 5 laps per driver and take the best or combined time or what.

I don't know if this is the best for your case, but VCom works offline too. It is like a lap time logger. In offline mode the only player is kind of a server and all the relevant tools work. When you change player, you can either rename the current player or define different setups for each and select them when player changes (renaming fetches the correct data even in a car).

Best lap time/splits are saved for each player and you can see all the lap/split times in the session (and even output them into a browser friendly format).

The stage rally tool might be useful too. You can define stages (=tracks) and each player finishes them. In the end total time for those is calculated. (for this you need to run the game in the race mode, but it works in a hot seat play too).

You can DL it from the lfs-database, but I just made a bug fixed version. I just posted them it, but so far they haven't updated it. I PM you the link where to get the newest (0.474).

I think it was quite funny. And those '70s clothes.

I only wonder how Arco found this... he must be googling quite a lot of YMCA stuff

Quote from mutt107 :cute hi chi-chi i have a black kitty

That looks just like my old cat. Damn I miss him, even he's been dead for 10 years

I wish I could post few pics, but I would need to find a way to scan the old photos.

About cats not caring if you are away... not true. My cat pretended to be cool and not care if you go away. But when I came home after being whole day away, he was clearly happy to see me. He rubbed his cheek to my legs and purring.

Actually it wasn't just Victor and friends. It was 3300 players out of max 1 players in the server. I added a pic there (see the link above).

EDIT: And the list of players was so long there must have really been 3300 players in the list.

Yep I posted already in technical section something about this. I added one interesting pic too (not shown here yet).

I've had my thoughts who is behind this, but just saw something in black and white...

Notice the server name, player count and version number

Quote from jayhawk :Dogs have a master.

Cats have employees and servants.

Yes, exactly.

My cat thought he owned everything and everybody in the house. If you tryed to boss him or make him do like you wanted, no way you could succeed. But I think that's partly what made it so cute. You need a good sense of humour to have a cat.

Cute cat. (Can't understand how anybody could put her to sleep )

I had a cat too years ago. It had a habit of running around the house all night, playing with curtains and keeping the whole house awake. (...not fun then, but now it's funny :schwitz

Quote from BMWMaster81 :
Now what i purpose to you Aqualifer for the next Version of Vcom is a Function that Server best laps would be saved for each car of each player who drives on a Track.

They are already. Type !pb and you see times for all cars. Type for example "!sb all" and the list is for all cars combined (if you type !sb the list is for your current car or the last car - if you haven't had a car, it is same as "!sb all"). You can also use car group names or car names in the !sb command, like "!sb gtr", "!sb tbo", "!sb rb4", etc.

Quote from BMWMaster81 :
Now when i drive a fast Car my best lap is saved, i will never be faster with a slower car, and so my fastest lap with the slow car isnt saved.
On servers which runs 24/7 after a time there will be only entries of the fastes cars.

This must be because of the above reason. If you have e.g FZR selected it prints times for FZR cars. Type for example "!sb all" in that case.

Quote from BMWMaster81 :
It would be nice when players would be able to chose a car with a pull down menu and could also see fastest lap times with slower cars.

mmmm....the output files (XML)? All cars are now in the same file (best times). It would require to do some filtering for it. Maybe I should make some more browser examples for the result files.

Quote from BMWMaster81 :
Ähmm, what i wanted to ask, is it possible to display Messages after some Time ? Once an hour or so ? Or only once a day?

Nope. At least currently not. I hate to see every minute a text "drive clean" or "visit www.myteam.net". So I wasn't very interested to make such a thing. I could do it if it is really wanted.

Quote from X-Ter :As I understand it, there has to be a HTML page displaying things. You can not point the browser just to the directory. Only to a specific file in it.

Yes an no. You can usually just point a directory (w/o an index file), but the server returns you a html file which lists the files in the directory. (if there is an index file, you get it instead)
