Good. Now Doorman can start practising all of them as he cannot become a proper Finn before he masters all..... oh yeah, they test that you can handle all of them in the immigration office.
Castor oil is made of castor beans/seeds. Those beans contain ricin (the nerve poison). The bean collectors have suffered some sort of health problems, but the motor oil should be free from it as it is processed such a way.
The funny part is when you start to translate some of them....
freely translated...
Juha Kankkunen... John Hangover
Mikko Hirvonen... Michael Little Moose
...
The -nen ending can often be translated as the German -chen i.e. bit like small/little something or just a 'soft' version. For example Kankkunen -> Katerchen(ger)/Hangover(eng).
In winter, if there is no snow, it is dark and cold. And it is damn miserable to sit...erm...stand in a bus at 7:00 am...or a bus stop when it's so windy that sleet hits you horizontally
Computer hardware is bit more expensive than e.g in Germany, GB, etc and the new stuff comes later and in smaller quantities.
Yep. Like already mentioned some of the AI cannot get into the stalls. Some of them hit the pit walls between the stalls. In the pic AI1 hit the column and AI2 hit AI1. AI1 just continues drive forward and burns his clutch and Ai2 drives back and forth and burns his clutch too.
You don't HAVE to fly or drive anything. The map is however so large that you have to get some sort of transport in larger missions. You can walk, but if you do that few times you start to appreciate some sort of vehicle. In multiplayer missions the jobs are divided to many players and if you don't like to drive/fly you can and should leave it to somebody who is more experienced with it (you just sit behind and shoot water buffaloes with the door gun). Those forms of vehicles (transport and support) are really needed in the game and without them it would suck as they are important part of modern warfare.
I like to fly the helos (using mouse/kb). Ok, it is not easy but I guess it ain't so IRL either. The flight and driving physics are not at the level they are in hard core flight or driving sims, but it is good enough for the job. If the game is NOT in hard core mode, you can use the outside 'arcade' view (default is numpad enter), free view (numpad *) to turn it and auto hover which is really helpful to land the thing. After some practise you are able to land it between buildings and on a roof top.
There are lot of mods too. Some of them aim to make it even more realistic.
There are/were at least 2 demo versions. The original version had only multiplayer (3 MP games), while the newer has 3 SP, 3 MP games plus a very basic mission builder (which is so basic you can't use it for much). Also the newer version is 1.05 version (or was it 1.06, mmmm ). That is much less buggy, so I recommend it. Make sure the DX is the latest version... I remember I got some sort of DX error when I patched the old demo. It is also faster.
If there are some folks wanting to try the demo on mp, I can join
About the speed...if you know what kind of work load it has to do on the background it is not a miracle it is bit slower than those rambo shoot em ups. It is bit like LFS in that way.
I like Arma...bit like why I play LFS and not some arcade driving game. Cod4 looks nice, but the few unrealistic things make me bit unhappy (perks mainly).
I was looking for Asus P5K board as it should support 1333 FSB to match E6750. I read in the Asus homepage following...
"While in DDR2 1066 mode, ASUS´s exclusive technology offers a choice of FSB 1333 ..."
Is that a fancy way to tell that it can actually work in 1333 FSB only if your mem is set to 1066? I would need to invest lot more for 1066 mem just then.
It's also bit odd that it says "...up to 8GB of dual-channel DDR2 800/667 MHz memory architecture", so it is not listing 1066 as supported in that text. However bit lower down it says "DDR2 1066 support".
Besides, all the 1066 mem I was able to find in the same store is DDR3.
Yes, I have read that they work only online. But I think most of people buy these kind of games because of the multiplayer. I have Cod2 and I think I've played SP only 3 times through (the 3 highest difficulty setttings).
I think the perks are like if in Lfs some players had NOS. Only way I could think playing it was that there were servers which do not allow perks and use only the standard classes. But then you couldn't get e.g. RPG-7 (comes only with perks?).
The game would need some extensive modding, like COD4 - total realism.
Mainly done for Winamp, but with global hotkeys it works also for Foobar2000 and Deliplayer2 (at least).
(insim usage:
When the setup is set up correctly, make an icon (etc) with command line "vcom 64", start the player, start vcom and type /insim 29999 in the game)
With Winamp it can work without global hotkeys (or with them) and it displays the song names in the game.
Cod4 looks a nice game, but those stupid perks suck. How the heck is it realistic that your dude has a perk which makes your weapons more powerful. Thanks a lot Activision/Infinity Lard for ruining a game which might have been worth buying. illepall
Looks like Arma is still the only sensible/realistic (ish) modern warfare game.
8:13.452 with mouse (5th lap) and Bilstein. Some clear mistakes so I would say 8:00 possible.
It really helped that I had played the track in Racer a lot. After 3-4 laps I was quite home with the track. The main problem is that the car feels odd compared to LFS.
Quite fun just because of the Nordschleife track. I think I will hotlap it offline a lot because we don't have it in lfs. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.
I've been toying with a idea to have a historic racing car, like Bugatti T35 (from 1920s) or something like that. (I even suggested it in a new cars thread). If that kind of a car was in LFS it would certainly need the right kind of gearbox (and tyres and leaf springs, etc). So in that case it would be +1 from me. I'm not sure if UF1 needs it, because I have no clear idea how old car it pretends to be.
With a '20s race car we would need also leather helmet with proper racing goggles and scarfs.
