Quote from Yaamboo :I was sitting in the Rally Info at the service park which meant that I was giving information (in Finnish, English, French and a couple of words in Spanish also...) to teams or drivers who passed by and also other people that just wanted some info. Basically our main job was to be an info spot to the teams but as the area was free for anyone to pass by, we also helped tourists and rallyfans

And as the worktimes were organised so I had to work for only half a day, I could use the other half to walk around and even had time to go check the shakedown stage at Laajavuori
(The shakedown is actually quite nice as you see the top cars multiple times, it's free to enter and you get really close to the cars.)

It was fun and I'm planning to go again next year

Wow, nice job Although it would annoy me to sit somewhere in a office knowing that theres a rally going on just a few kilometers from me Shame we didn`t meet at shakedown, as we were both there. We also camped at laajavuoruiorui the night before shakedown.
Yeah, perhaps next time we'll have more luck
Quote from amp88 :About to get my new monitor tomorrow and I've been getting a few HD clips ready for it. I've got a few films, but now I'm looking for some car stuff in HD (1080 would be great, but 720 would be good too). At the moment I've only got a few short promo clips of F1 (1080i that I downloaded from a HD Forum a couple of years ago). They're just general pitlane stuff that appears to have been filmed at Hockenheim in 2004/2005, not actual racing. So, does anyone have links to racing (preferably F1, but doesn't have to be) in high definition?

"Super Speedway" and "Dust to Glory" from here:

I guess bikes suits too? Then this too: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/guide/hd/ducati.html

I love D2G (have it on DVD) but can´t understand why they do not sell it in HD. I even contacted the Distributor, but got no answer
Quote from amp88 :Some very nice links there, thanks

I'd check out http://www.finalgear.net/

They have the HD rips off bit-torrent of the Top Gear Polar Special, not really racing or even cars per say, but it was Fantastic!

Also I recommend the HD bit-torrents of the Victoria Secret Fashion show, find it on mininova.org
Quote from Boris Lozac :Some great slides there , but damn, you people stand TOO close to the track, one snap oversteer and all hell can break loose..

Rallys in Finland are usually very well organised and safe. Actually in that vid I didn't see audience in dangerous places, cause if you think about the driving lines, those cars wouldn't goto where that people is standing. We like to stand close to the roads where it's safe, ie. in-lines in turns are pretty safe, not always, but youve gotta just think about driving lines and possibilities where cars go when driver loose them.

On those woods if youre not close, you can't actually see anything.

"Patrick Depailler at Montreal in Tyrrell 008"

doesn't say exact year, but 70's f1 in the wet...massive amounts of tire spin, and amazing driver skill

Truly its amazing he's alive. John Force is a good family friend, and glad he's alive. This, out of all his years, is the first real injury accident he's had in the sport!

It really is worse that his car split in two, as the front half took away all his protection as it went flying down the track. The back half included the rear axle, wheels and tires, cockpit, and john...dangling out in front with him being strapped to this mangled mess. He was basically drug on the ground as it skid to a halt on the wall. It took the safety crew some time to realize that he was actually in the back half and not in the front section that went the rest of the distance of the runoff area.

Wow - Holy Mother of Aquaplaning deliver us. Some of the corrections he had to make even on the straights are crazy.

He might even be capable of driving the RAC.

That's ripped from "Lap of the Gods": Depailler at Long Beach is a great reason to buy the DVD, as is Alain Prost at Zandvoort (listen to his downshifts, if I had to burn a cd that would be only thing I could listen to for the rest of my life, I would include that sound...)
