No way it's ram, man. I told you i used to play this game smooth on a 10 very low grade athlon system in the old days.
I checked ram and LFS.exe is taking 200MB, lol. Really weird thing...
I don't get it.
Fps look fine and stable all the time (75 at 75hz), but once i start driving everything is so sluggish, the world moves past me in such an oddly slowed-down manner as if it was 30 fps or smth. The camera shaking from the bumps and other forces is also very abrupt and not smooth at all, although again no sign of fps drops on the fps counter.
Victor says ''your issue could be something completely unrelated''.
What sort of ''completely unrelated'' thing could be causing this ?
Ram problems, disk problems maybe ? Anything else ?
Yeah, it's a very budget system, but i used to play LFS smoothly almost 10 years ago on an Athlon/9600pro configuration if i remember correctly ...So i believe it's safe to rule out the (lack of)power of the system here.
I have the latest drivers, yes. I've set in the catalyst to override the application with AA and AF now and i've chosen the high performance plan in windows. It seems a bit smoother overall now, but coming around the corners and turning still makes the world movement feel sluggish. It's normally playable, though, so it's good enough to check out the game again after a long time.
Anyway, I just wanted to check out the new Westhill. The track is ok, but what i especially like is driving on all the side roads and how everything is interconnected and accessible. Pretty impressive and it still looks good enough, coupled with decent sounds and physics to provide a quality sim racing experience imo.
Were would this option be in catalyst ? I can't find it.
Btw, from what i see in Afterburner, the card is functioning normally. I doubt it's in power saving mode. The readings show roughly the same values as in other games i play. Gpu core/mem clock is at full, only memory usage is at 300(of 1000 available). And fps shows stable 60/75 fps.
So, I bought a new GPU - R7 250X and now to my surprise the performance in game is worse than before on 8800gt. It's even worse than that from my early 2007 years, when i had an old athlon/ati9600pro system.
What's happening is that the environment/world movement and shakes/camera movement doesn't feel smooth or 60 fps.
It feels sluggish and slow motion (at like 90% full speed). I haven't been around much in the last couple of years, but i don't remember game ever running this bad for me, not even back in 2006/7.
The sluggish, stuttery feel is especially noticeable at SC and when turning left-right or when coming around a corner and when objects come into view. There's also screen tearing apparent.
I have it VSynced and get constant 60/75 fps, depending on the refresh i choose (i'm testing a 1440x900/75hz monitor ).
Anyone got a clue what's going on here ? Or is this just the way the game is and i've forgotten while playing more modern sims...
Agreed. We're sharing the same thoughts. I'm also a big fan of the TBO class and it's been frustrating for me also not being able to take part in a challenging and exciting TBO race. The servers have been completely empty. This stands for other classes as well. Demo servers are packed, but when it gets to S2 cars there's very little going on. A couple of licensed users here and there, scattered between a few active servers. One gets the impression LFS isn't popular at all. It's a shame.
Hi, Becky... I'd really like to see what this race watcher looks like, but i get memory access violation, even after waiting 2 minutes(even with stcc) . Can you assist me with this issue, please.
I've extracted the watcher into lfs root folder. Only extracted the watcher.exe file. Anything else i should do? Should Lfs be running while running race watcher, perhaps?
I'm trying to find a review on the net about this wheel (ff ex), but can't find a single one...Don't know if it's because the wheel doesn't sell at all or for some other reason...
Anyway, i've been using a used formula force gp for 3 months and it has become ''a grumpy old wheel'' meanwhile. It doesn't work properly anymore, i've been driving without ff almost 1,5 months now, ...
Well, I was wondering if someone could send some advice on whether to buy another GP (new this time ) or rather go for the EX...
Thanks a lot for the help,
Jan
Here's what i feel about the formula force ex:
...I went to a computer store meanwhile and tried the ex....Feels cheaper and crappier then the gp, the design is appealing at first glance but once you take hold of the wheel it doesn't feel that good...The ex is skinnier than the gp and the position of the hands is also set higher, which also didn't feel comfortable (the hands rest very nice on the gp)...furthermore, the controls also feel very cheap, the rubber also seemed not to be as good as the gp's. It seems Logitech has made a step backwards with this wheel...Haven't tried the force feedback, but i guess it shouldn't be that much different than the gp's...My opinion is that formula force gp is still the best wheel in its price.
Taking hold of the momo and the dfp is a different story...Very comfortable, well designed...I personally like the dfp more, momo a bit too chuncky for my taste... These two wheels immediatelly give the feeling of being very powerful and resistant, but are also quite expensive...
I'm still a demo racer but get the similar feeling with the xf gti.
Feels completely different...This car also floats around the corners, waiting for the nose to turn as if it were a rwd...
I'm still a demo and i find the new xf gti phyisics just crap.
Maybe new setups are needed, but the car's reaction to wheelturns is just awful imo. Suddenly i have to wait for the nose to come around the turn longer,as if it were a rwd. The steering much to sensitive imo, also the car is slower, doesn't accelerate as fast as it used to.
Also what's bugging me, is the feeling of a better grip at low speed, but a worse one at higher speeds through the turns...
The skinny digits also don't give my eyes a pleasure. I wish there would be an option to make it thicker...The car also feels lighter and not as powerful.
I don't get the speed feedback i got in the previous patch. Really funny it's changed that much...
I realise we're still in the early stages of getting to know the updated phyisics, so i won't be jumping to conclusions here. I'll rather wait and see what's the feedback gonna be like..
getting closer to the 32 mark at blackwood and playing for at least an hour or so every day.... During the weekend i play the game some 6-7 hours/day.
I guess that's due to not having internet connection during weekdays... and i have to race the Ais which is far from fun, but at least i get a clear road and some good times...
Yes, i didn't have that in mind, but now i see it's a very complex thing to calculate...Anyway, the online aspect of the game is great...It's just, i have to play it offline more, because of not having internet connection at home yet...
Yeah, i've heard of this.
But this would be a much longer process, wouldn't it?
Imagine, if you could just assign the racers' race data to ai...
It would be like driving in a replay...But the ai should still have some ''logic'' predefined in case off crash or running off the track, to recover...
Hi, everyone.
I've been playing lfs for over a month now, mostly offline, due to not having internet connection at home....
Well, everyone who is a fast racer, say 1.32.xx at Blackwood, knows Ai PRO aren't competitive at all, coming over the finish line 30,40 seconds behind, a minute even.
So, i thought about how to make ai better...And came up with this idea:
Say, you are playing online( 5 lap race at Bl for example) and you finish in 7:52. The first one comes in 7.49, second one in 7:51,third 7:52 and others somewhere around your time. You save a replay of this specific race you thought was quick. You would probably like to go as fast as the fastest racer and i think the greatest way of learning and striving for that time would be to OUTPUT specific racers' data for this race ( the driving path, braking points, like a raf. file ( i think this is the extension used for outputting lap data for AFS).
Then having recorded the driver's race data, assign this data to various AI cars and have a great, tight offline race against FAST laptimes and racetimes of the fastest racers outthere..
I'm looking forward to your feedback.
p.s.: i apologize, if this was already started somewhere, but it just seems a great idea and i wanted to know what you guys think about it. Don't know how difficult it is to make it reality, though, since i'm not a programmer..
Just crap!
Was using the official utility from motherboard's manufacturer site and updated the bios using this utility ''Super update''. The bios was also downloaded from their site. Than i restarted the pc and it went beep......beep....beep nothing but black screen.
I immediatelly contacted a local assembler and he said it wasn't advisable to update bios in windows and that perhaps it wasn't the right bios for the mobo and that my mobo has quite surely gone poo, poo, ka,kaillepall .
Anyway, it's still under guarantee, so no costs luckily.
Was just a bit unlucky here, i guess, due to lacking sufficient knowledge.
Well, looking at the bright side, i've learned to be more careful in these matters. The pc is at repair ''plant'' now.
No high fps for me this weekend...
This forum is great !
I mean, great people on the forum .
Thanks for your instant replies.
One more thing:
I updated the bios, now it says to restart the computer and ''load CMOS optimized defaults''.
What do i have to do? Anything in bios or do i need only to restart the computer and the ''CMOS otpimized defaults'' load automatically?
Hi, everyone.
I'm having this ''Kernel data inpage error'' coming up on my monitor, a blue screen...you probably know what it looks like...
I took the pc to a local pc assembler, who tested the machine and said it was the ram and put a new ram into the pc.(the pc was also running slow).
Now the speed is ok, but now and then this kernel message still comes up and the pc reboots.
I'm no expert in this ''department'' and don't know what could be the cause. Could it be the motherboard drivers or any other drivers i should update, apart from gfx card which i've done already ?
