After further testing while playing in random servers, i'm back to confirm, that ignition cut works as indented and finally it's shifting gears fine using the mouse wheel !!

Quote from Scawen :Hi Morfeas,

A solution is now available. Sorry you had to wait so long.

I was working on something else related to gear shifts so I decided to focus on this specific issue today. I have now made it so that a "fake key press" initiated by a mouse wheel move now lasts for 100ms.

Previously it was as if the key was only pressed for one physics frame, which was not long enough to do the gearshift. Although the ignition cut happened (as you said) the drive train did not become unloaded during that single physics frame, to allow the shift to take place.

The solution seems very reliable to me. I hope you can test it when convenient.

You can't believe how HAPPY I am !!! Na-na

I'm reporting in this topic and I'll do on the test patch one, as soon as I run for a decent ammount of laps.

So far after a quick test (offline mode 20 laps @ Blackwood with XFR) works flawless!!!

BUMP Once more!
I'll never buy a wheel/pedal set and that's not my intention cause of desk/house space.

I was addicted to this game since the beginning, even more, just because i could easily use my mouse for steering whenever i wanted to quit working run the game and JUST PLAY!

I was thinking about S3 License but there's no way to pay for that.
It's been EIGHT YEARS since this "bug".

Is it ever going to be fixed?

Oh, Scawen, I'm back again!

I was so happy I built a new PC... the last one I built, was back in 2004-5, since then, I used to own decent/powerful laptops.

Back into serious gaming now. My mouse is a Steelseries Rival 110, tried all polling rates 100hz, 200hz... up to 1000hz, no change Frown
No other "tuning" or messy software installed except HW monitoring tools and motherboard's PWM fan control software, just that!!

Jumped into game so happy that I can finally render to 4k and scale it down into 1440p compensating for the lack of antialiasing... even more happy that now i'm at 165hz without screen tearing cause I'm into VRR monitor tech... well, bittersweet feelings, sequential shift still doesnt work Frown

Ignition's cut fine, but no upshift...!!

Scawen, it's not about clutchless upshifts.
Normal H pattern gearbox cars, work just fine!

Cars with a sequential gearbox and ignition cut, can be flat shifted, but only ignition cut is doing its thing. Doesnt click into next gear.

See the video I posted waaaay above.

No worries mate. I'm glad for your time into this! Thumbs up

Quote from rane_nbg :what is your button debounce value?

I have it set at 50msec.

Tried every increment from 10 to 200. No change!

Quote from rane_nbg :Ok, what is your button debounce value? In windows mouse settings there is an option to set how many lines one notch in mouse scroll wheel will do, by default it's 3, you can try 1 there.

Already changed those parameters (scroll wheel lines number) and gearshift debounce (ms).
The second one, only works if you cycle the mouse wheel fast enough, faster than the threshold.

I'm saying again: IGNITION CUT = FINE. Cuts EVERY SINGLE TIME! None missed! That means the mouse wheel input is registered correctly! The whole process stops when about to slide into next gear.

I cant explain more than the video shows.
It's like having a quickshifter on a bike, which works every single time, cutting ignition, but gear change is "stuck" for some reason.

Im posting the video once again:

Quote from rane_nbg :Are you using a manual or auto clutch?

I use manual clutch.
Tried auto clutch, same issue.

Keyboard mapping for up/downshift works fine!!
No other tools or mouse specific programms running/installed on my PC.

Bump .... I cannot change gear on a sequential gearbox type!!!

I have to rotate the wheel a few more "clicks" in rapid succesion.
Sometimes 2 "clicks" do the job, some i get a double upshift.

If i unload the transmission throttling back, i can slide the next gear with a single mouse wheel "click" rotation.

Alright, I'm attaching a link of a recording I've done to show what's the deal.

I only have issues on UPshifting...
Ignition cut works as intented, but doesnt slip into next gear.
If only i swipe my mouse wheel hell of a lot, It might upshift one or two gears but that's not how it's meant to be done for winning a race...
If i let of the throttle a bit, it's a hit or miss.
If i let of the throttle and clutch in, then again it's a hit or miss.

This only happen in sequential gearbox cars.
Here's the video.

I messed up with V-sync, frame limit, sleep every frame, gearshift debounce timing etc...
Downshifts work brilliant (mouse wheel up or even down!)

Had that issue a loooooooong time ago, but now it's happening again.

Any help?

BUMP ... I still have the same issue.

I use mouse wheel for up/downshifts.
When I'm tryping to upshift in a sequential gearbox car it's a hit or miss but chances are that ignition cut works, but doesnt slip into next gear.

After a long absence from LFS (very long!) i'm just checking out this topic.

Night screenshots of BL ... fckin hell! WOW!

I'll force myself out of this for an equally long time, hoping i'll be surprised again.

Nice work devs.

Oh well, reading inouva's posts ... is like a blast from the past.

Hilarious conversations even in Cargame servers.....

Site is plain simple without any ads or stupid scripts.
That's why your old brick loads up the page like a champ.

Same goes for most forums, with owners that keep them "clean".

I dont understand, if someone feels sad about this, if someone feeld betrayed about this, if someone doesnt want to throw money in this game anymore, why doesnt he just quit this forum instead of bitching about this?

I've left since years ago... and i only occasionally click my bookmarked LFS website just to have a peek if something serious going on.
IF not, i just close the tab.

Alright my bad, good to know!
If physics back then or even nowadays are good for them (VW) ... no wonder about their emissions testing hahahaha

We can all accept, that LFS physics need to be heavily reworked so they match up as close to a real car's handling.

VW, doesn't want to ruin their chick car's image and reputation having a poor performance in-game sliding everywhere like ice skating.

On the other hand, if physics parameters are fixed (tires, etc) then LFS developers really need to put an effort creating the best smoke effect out there so we can have a real rolling coal full package experience!

There's really no free time for me to give some feedback right now but as soon as this topic stays alive i'll get a reminder to post in a couple of weeks.

Thanks in advance if the issue is resolved.

Still present to 0.6H !!

I'm using mouse wheel up/down to change gears.

The only way i can have 99% success rate in switching gears, is by limiting FPS in-game through options (NOT vsync).
Around 80 to 90fps i managed to get the best results.
Only a few gear changes missed.

Scroll wheel has no issue, tested with different mice.

When i miss a gear up in a sequential gearbox driven car, it only cuts throttle but doesn't complete the upshift!
I have to scroll up once more, or even twice. FFS

This is happening since early 2014.

Im using my mouse wheel for gear up/down. (Steelseries Sensei RAw)

With vsync:OFF and limit in-game framerate, i miss some gear changes.
In sequential gearbox cars, throttle cut-off engages but there's no up shift. (or downshift) It only works if i roll the wheel once or twice.
On H pattern cars, when i miss the gear change, it's like i never rolled the mouse wheel.

With Vsync:ON it happens rarely, but still there's the issue.

With Vsync:OFF and limit in-game framerate at 90fps (+/-5fps) it never happened or i didnt notice.

what's going on ?

(Tested with other mice too, with or without software... windows 8.1
It started happening again in the latest patches of new westhill)
