We'll have a third generation Scirocco when the second one comes out on LFS.

'Kidding. :B

Real ovals and appropriate cars would be cool, with the same good physics engine for american, european and japanese racers. And would attend a huge market of online gamers from the USA.

Quote from 5tag :How does that fit together? He cares about Westhill just as much as anyone else does, who stated his point.

I mean... as it's a fictional track, it will not hurt that much to change it if it gets better. Not like Hermann Tilke destroying historic grand prix circuits.

Quote from Tomba(FIN) :Just because you can't drive some corner doesnt mean it should be changed.. I find it as a perfect corner and it should not be changed.

He didn't say he couldn't drive the corner, he said it could become a great overtaking point with some changes. I really don't understand some Europeans, you should have more sex and stop caring so much for stupid little things. It's a fictional track, not Monza or Spa, and which is 5 or 6 years old, not 50 or 60.

I'm pretty sure that someone will come with "bla bla bla, I don't need sex, my life is perfect, just like everything in LFS, and nothing may change." And for hell, I understand you, 65D.

That shot at 0:37 is breathtaking

Wow... simply epic. That's how EVERY race should be, from regional touring cups to Formula 1: in the real world.

We should call Hermann Tilke to convert all fast turns into hairpins, making them safe for all LFS drivers and encouraging overtaking.

NAH.

Quote from RevengeR :...but since it doesn't affect the car's handling it's not important at all.

Oh, sure, then why do we have texturized cars instead of wireframes? The body doesn't affect the car's aerodynamics, so it's not important at all. Same for almost everything in the game. And we should have a prompt, not a full friendly menu.

Right?

I hate when people only say "your idea is not important" and nothing more...

Quote from Gimpster :
(...) Just like the track width everyone would soon settle on the diameter that worked best and having it be adjustable would again be of no use. (...)

Looking by that point of view, almost all setup options avaliable on LFS are of no use, with a best value for each track. You could say that most of them depends on the user's driving style, but in this case, the argument would fit on wheel dimensions too.

Not that I'm an engineer, but from what I know:
The smaller and lighter wheels are the best, for lower unsuspended mass, but the minimum diameter depends on the brake disks. And the size of the tires are defined by their capacity to dissipate heat. That's why Nascars have small wheels and fat tires (low brake usage, high speed and heat), and GTs have big wheels and thin tires (high brake usage, medium speed and heat).

The LFS official rules are really similar to the ones according to the FIA rules: if both cars are side-by-side, they'll have to divide the space. Otherwise, feel free to fight.

As long as the cars don't look as ugly as the brazilian stock cars (generally, there's so much commercial stuff, the car looks like a van), that would be ok. The area should be limited.

FIA classes are quite interesting, I believe. LFS cars could fit the most important categories:

LMP1 - top class prototypes (~700hp/900kg)
LMP2 - slower class prototypes (450~500hp/825kg)

GT1 - top modified GT cars (~600hp)
GT2 - adapted GTR class (~450hp)
GT3 - FZ5 and RAC with spoilers and racing wheels/tires (~400hp)
GT4 - light cars with racing wheels/tires, stock FZ5, LX, RAC, etc (250~300hp)

S2000 - 2 liter N/A rally and/or racing cars (~270hp)

And so on...

Both Tony Fernandes, from the "new Lotus", and Richard Branson, from Virgin, work with aviation. Fernandes has AirAsia and Branson, Virgin Atlantic. Also, Fernandes worked for Branson long time ago.

Tony recently joked that, in his first year ahead an F1 team, his main objective is end the year ahead of Richard. Richard replied that he could see about that, but if he won, Tony work as a Virgin Atlantic stewardess, and the reciprocal would be true.

Fernanded accepted the challenge and said "But knowing Richard, the real challenge will be to prevent him from asking our guests, 'coffee, tea or me?'".

Man, gotta love these new teams. I hope they're gonna put some colors in this grey-suit-Formula-1 we're having lately. And that means Red-Bull is not alone anymore.

Quote from Kosmo :Real manly men don't even need to shift

+1 hahaha

Well, some road cars have it; the vast majority, not.

I think it's ok to take it out of them, but shift light needs a bit more attention on race cars... The only things that you really HAVE to see all the time in a cockpit is the tachometer, the gear indicator and the shift light...

Quote from broken :Not
Realistic

And wouldn't work out pretty well in LFS. Anyway... +.5 because it is something that is not at all important but still realistic.

Why wouldn't it work? Sometimes you need someone to overtake you, like in slow practice laps, and pressing just one key istead of two would be a good help.

Not really helpful that "9, no, aww 8, not, 9, sorry, I meant 0"...

Why not? I think "BL3R" would have an awesome Mulsanne-like straight followed by a second gear left turn. Good overtaking point?

Maybe for GTR/Formula cars, but really boring for the slower ones.

In Sinbin's GTR2 I could see the difference between many models of shift lights. Some instrument panels were great, with visible shift lights and gear indicators. Some were just awful, with important informations far away from the windscreen. Variety would be nice.

Here, my favorite one: Maserati MC12.

Someone could make a poll about it: totally different car, creating another class? Or a partially different car, to enrich the existing classes (TBO, GTR, LX...)?

IMO, new prototype class.
