Uhm? I know.

It was a joke afterall. before that I've already sended a normal PM to them which they didnt reply.

How can I make a fool of myself if you don't even know me? Bleh, I suck at computer which make's me suck on internet too.

I'm sorry that im not really familiar with computers at all.
Well said, speedway.
If you approach people in a mature, friendly way, they usually are much more willing to do it than if you're being childish.
And Takumi - look at this
I did not post it. There are other ppl who actually did it. Some of them are "mature" pm's.

Geez...

Quote :Remove the Live For Speed logo please, This logo has been copyrighted for almost 7-8 years. Would you like something you guys have made for years be ruined by someone else stealing your work? No? Didn't think so.

there are 4-5 other posts... Some of them arent saved etc.
Lol, just chill people
Now they are informed, and I belive that they will do something about it.
Lol GP4Flo, I private messeged them BOTH about that.

and I politely asked them, so that they can actually remove it and not say that we are going to cause trouble, in fact, I think i have the perfect logo for them maybe NFS is better for them as their logo.

Yeah I took my time typing a formal, nicely asking letter to please remove it, that way they will. (I hope)

Otherwise, i'll just ask my friend to hack it, and thats the end of the logo issue, although that would be kinda harsh don't you think?

Hope I convinced them

"Hello Zia, These are the fans and moderators requesting for you to change the logo of your site.

It is a violation under many circumstances, that you have used our logo for your site.

We do not have any intention of pursuing you unless needed, but we would like you to replace the logo with something else, because Live For Speed, is for the Game, not for a family-safe torrent site.

Please find another logo, we'd greatly appreciate it. Please do not make us pursue the subject again.

Thank you and best wishes.

Quote from mcintyrej :Piratebay have been taken down now and the owners prosecuted, for the same thing as these guys.

They were "raided" back in May, 2006, but other than a short period of time (2 weeks?), they've always been up. They're located in Sweeden, where there are no laws against torrents and copyright laws aren't as strict. It was one of a few torrent sites that iRacing / iFirst couldn't threaten, much less sue. What's interesting is that there's an ad for Dish Network on their site in the legal threats section.

Getting back on topic, I don't understand why a torrent site would use the Live For Speed logo, especially one based in the USA, where copyright laws are pretty strict.
Quote from sgt.flippy :Say, now we're pointing fingers about this piracy and stuff...

How/why did the OP found out about it?

And he's american where this kind of sites is illegal if I understand correctly...

*points finger and goes: oooh!!*

Links fly around on IRC man, if i'm bored enough i click them in hopes of porn, all i got was the LFS logo :P

I'm glad to see its been worked out, i registered to see if theres any forums, but didnt see any so i just let it be. I didnt think to PM one of the mods there though, good job guys.

I don't think its a good idea posting on behalf of other people such as the LFS Staff, secondly I don't think this concerns anyone but the LFS Staff (Victor more so) so why we have 10 people running over to their forum posting childish threats that read like a bad witch hunt is beyond me.

If you're not officially connected with LFS then don't meddle in their affairs, it really just makes the community look silly.

Um, I don't stay up and wait torrents to complete as I use torrents only to download Linux image or such quite rarely. I don't know anyone else that would use it as intended though, everyone I know is using it to download illegally programs, music and such, really can't support such activity.

But I have noticed they have also silly habit of staying up and waiting downloads finish, odd.

I prefer staying up overnight while working, much better

Wrong! Re-read the thread.

Wrong! Re-read the thread.

The web site is still up, and the NR2005 mod still has a link.

A bit off topic, how was it that iFirst / iRacing could threaten people for giving away mods for NR2003, but they and Nascar didn't and don't sue online stores (many of the Ebay sales are from online stores) for still selling new copies of NR2003? Once Sierra gave up the Nascar license, local stores here in the USA had to pull the game from their shelves. I'm not aware of any attempt to stop sales of NR2003 on Ebay.

Back on topic, I still don't get why a web site would choose to use the LFS logo. Maybe they just though it looked nice.

He meant about the Sweden thing. "No-one knows" where TBP's servers are, but it's a fair guess they have a server or two that aren't in Sweden.

That, and the seemingly common misconception that the authorities in Sweden are lenient on acting against piracy / that there's no "strict" laws against it. A law is a law. There are no levels of "strictness".

Edit: I don't know anything about the whole iRacing deal (original quote adjusted accordingly).

But they aren't as insane as in other countries (in this case the USA). Also TPB usually gets orders to remove contents as music albums from their site, which they really don't host there, so they can ridicule about that. And making meta-data about copyrighted data illegal, like the DMCA states, is just meh.

Also TPB runs redundant servers in at least two other countries than Sweden (Russia is one of them I think).
No, probably not as insane as the USA in that matter (or any other matter when comparing to the the states, hehe!). Though I'm not saying we're overly strict. I just want to tone things down.

As was said in a conversation between me a team mate: "the law is the same here as anywhere, basically. Though human rights are prioritized." (Especially privacy, I guess).

I don't know anything about TPB's policy on removing certain content. I hardly ever visit the site. It's highly overrated imo.

Just normal thing, some law firm sent them automatically generated C&D letter (obviously requested by iRacing) and TPB admin answered it with mostly using F-words or something other uber-smart and thinking that makes them look cool. I wonder do law firms even bother reading basicly any email reply they get. I think only thing why they collect these letters and replies to the site is to enlarge virtual penis.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a nasty trait of a lot of LFS fanbois.. they all seem to think LFS is _their_ sim for some reason (look how defensive they get when you mention almost _any_ other race game for example, they defend LFS like it's their own mother and Scawen is their father ).

After having read a few of their replies it appears as if the TPB staff is nothing more than a bunch of snot-nosed kiddiewinkies who seem to think that they own teh internets. I'm glad I so very seldom visit their website, thus not contributing as much to their advertisement income.

Without Lolcats, Al Gore wouldn't have invented the internet.
