Fastest you've gone on a bike
I was just wondering how many have ever experienced the thrill of going high speeds on a push bike cycling like a man who's been taken over.

My current top speed is around 95+kph while i was following a International Pro or Am coming down into Whittlesea on the last day of the great vic bike ride.
Now let me tell you thats the most fun ive ever had being on the edge of death and riding in basicly nothing because most cyclist know that the clothes you wear are basicly not there if you really think about it since one fall can rip half of your gear.

Anyway i was wondering if anyones topped that or has felt the thrill and stories of good rides with mates ect.
I remember when I was about 14 I got a speedo for my push bike, fastest I ever went was 31mph down a massive hill near my house. That was on a mountain bike with fat tyres and suspension while wearing a hoody that was catching the wind, so I was quite proud of it.

My favourite moment on a bike was when I crashed my mates bike into my bike, we had swapped bikes and he forgot to tell me he had no brakes. Basically he pulled across infront of me, I hit the brakes, nothing happens, hit the back of my bike and fly about 15 foot and land against a wall. I was really suprised that I didn't get hurt, apparently I did a proper front flip through the air.

32.8 mph. On my mountain bike down a hill.

Or, by cheating my speedo, 62 mph. by crashing into a tree.

I got 34mph on my bike on a long (about 1.5mi) flat tarmac farm road which is slightly downhill and connects 2 cycle paths together.

I then fell off my bike on the same bit of road doing 20mph due to the rear tyre giving up... It hurt somewhat.
144.4mph well that was with the bike on the back off a flatbed

but fastest ive gone is about 32mph down hill probably go faster on bmx down hill
30.2 MPH

My mum doesnt like me going much faster than that because she thinks I'll get killed
Around 33mph, down a long (but not especially steep) hill, pedalling like mad. I wasn't physically capable of getting back up the hill for a few minutes. And that's before I discovered engines and cigarettes (if only I'd patented my discoveries ).

Well i got my fastest last summer down the "Hahntennjoch" in austria with 84 kph.

I am always a pussy when it comes to downhilling, somehow i am still the only one who keeps kissing the ground every now and then , i prefer going up the mountain
40, but that was in km/h, not in mph.
I got 72km/h (~45mph) with my mountain bike down a road, was nice, but I prefer offroad with jumpings and less speed
About 35mphish, down one of the big hills near Brickhill (That's near Milton Keynes)

On a proper bike mind, I dread to think...
About 35-40mph down a long but slight hill. My new bike doesn't have a speedo, but its a slacker bike, making it much more stable at high speed, so I felt much more comfortable slamming down that hill on my way home from the trail.
the fastes I've ever went was around 55km/h on my mountain bike, down a hill at it's highest gear. I could have continued to accelerate, but it was a dirt road and the rear wheel was warped badly enough that it started to shake the whole bike. Pretty scary when I think of it now, I didn't even have a helmet on or anything.
I supposed I should have got a speedo, I've been on countless stupid high speed escapades (nothing pisses off people more than a bunch of kids on bikes overtaking them), but never had anyway of knowing my speed.
I've got up to about 40mph a few times, maybe faster. I prefer road biking though
37mph on my old mountain bike, downhill, on tarmac.

I've not tried it on my new one yet but it could probably get a bit faster than that, maybe over 40mph.
Over 90km/h solo on a steep but shortish downhill - about 62-63km/h drafting a motorbike (was out of gearing at ~120 rpm) on a flat straight and about 85 km/h on a slight downhill inside a tight group during a race with some insane engine-like pro-riders up in front (had to pedal up to ~150-160 rpm at some point because I didn't want to lose the draft). Needless to say the scariest is in groups as one's error up ahead can take out a whole lot of riders.
36mph, down massive hill one morning on the way to school
I've managed 65km/h, had real hard problems reading the speedometer at that speed. I remember the brakes weren't good and i had to use a traffic light post as a brake to stop myself flying into a busy road. Yes and I do still have my teeth

I certainly wouldn't do this >>> OMG AUCH <<<
about 30-35mph on my mountain bike. It was on a slightly downhill stretch of road in studley, and it was great fun overtaking the sunday drivers

At my school, there is a long stretch of path which goes along the school, then opens up into the carpark. My mate asked for a backy (he's quite big ). He got on the back, and we flew down the hill (did'nt know the speed, did'nt have a speedo then but it was fast). I turned to gently move out the way of a car, and because of the extra weight (no offence michael ) the back tyre came off the rim slightly and the wheel dug down into the ground. Me and my mate flew off and landed on the bonnet of the car infront. It was bloody hilarious but it bloody hurt too!
41mph / 66km/h down a longish steep hill with no wind. Did it twice on the same road (well 39mph to first time), the road in question being the A193 at Rosehill. linkage. If you're in the NE it's a nice stretch and fun to ride on. There's nothing there but for me at least it's on the way to the coast.

OT: When did google maps get a terrain view? Cool.
I went only 48kmh on a slight downhill near my house. If i had a longer gear ratio i could have gone faster...
I went like 75 Kilometers per hour 46,875 miles per hour

It was obe a downhile slope near my pal kevs house
goods thing i had verry good brakes
47mph on my moutain bike a number of years back, that was with a little downhill aid, a high gear, and frantic pedalling. I then gave in to the fear (despite there being more hill left... and more in my legs), and hit the brakes
Quote from JamesF1 :47mph on my moutain bike a number of years back, that was with a little downhill aid, a high gear, and frantic pedalling

47mph?? jesus thats fast for a mountain bike!
