Wow, that clip has sure done the rounds and for some reason always gets labelled as an Audi R8. Its not. Its Alain Castellana in his Norma M20. Google around, 'cause there are more videos of him hanging around the web, but anything from the European hillclimb scene is usually fairly impressive...

Just read first 4 pages of the thread (yep... kinda bored today at office :nod and damn... it worth the time spent. I didn't laugh this way for a long time... Ian's posts are just hilarious :talktohan :uglyhamme

I can't understand all of this battle "grippers vs doriftos". I used to race at LFS-Spain league and, trust me, that's serious racing and it's damn fun. But sometimes I also like going to an STCC server and do a couple of short races and i get fun from there too. Not serious racing at all, sometimes too many crashers, but... so what? it's fun for me.

Same with drift then. I don't drift at all, but I think it could be nice to slide with a couple of friends.... JUST FOR FUN!!!

Damn... sometimes I think people forget this is just a game :something

To reply to certain 'drifter' comments.

Why refer it as a DRIFT mountain course?
There are racers saying here to use it for both parties.
But all i see drifters say: YES GIVE US A DRIFTERS COURSE!!!
That's pretty selfish. ( of course there are expections )
I really dislike the drifters and i'm completly honest about it.
I fully support Ian in his comments but it recently has become a part of the game and we all have to live with it. As just both parties stay at there side i think everyone could get alone.
You can't please everyone so just try to please the general public.

Hmm, read the first page and it seems too me that Ian is more of an appalachian american (redneck) than anything that has come of out any Brittish womans yuuhuu.

Almost all of the D1 drifters, including KT, competes or has competed in the JGTC, to me worth a thousand times more than F1. So for you calling them anything negative/neglecting in association with motorsport is like calling the Pope gay. Could add an almost but you should be able to see the big(ger) picture.

You go ahead and join the Saiko D server and see if you can challenge them in a battle and win it, you wont but you'll probably understand that it's as hard as proper racing.

Screw a mountain, we need a classic Essex B road, with twistys and bridge jumps, then a Escort XR3i look-alike to thrash round it

I originally voted no to the drift track. But I wouldn't mind a hill climb track for standard racing.

Aston Cadet is all you need, maybe add some close bariers for extra trickyness. Sure, there is not very hilly but its technical enough.

A nice hillclimb would be a good idea, just don't have a reverse option.

OR

Have a circuit set in a mountainous part of Northern Spain with a permenant track of a BL length and a longish ring type track (20 km length or so) which would be a bit wider. Maybe have a rally in there as well, it would be tarmac, gravel and snow.

Hill drift not at all, but surely track in hills for some hill climb, downhill, laps in hills its very nice idea. Surely, its propably can be very hard work to do, many trees, more bitmaps of background etc, but maybe in future we can see some new track with high percent of downhill or uphill... for hardcore mountain racing... :> something like these:

If all drifters who want this mountain will give like 5 pounds thats will be big money and

Out of respect for the dev's wishes, no one is going to create a track for LFS other than the devs, and they will only make what they want to make.

Plus, it's not about the money, it's about the time. Eric is only one man and he probably has his hands full already. The LFS team doesn't want to expand at the moment. Fine with me! It warms my heart to know that somewhere in the world impatient people are suffering

In the video I saw with this, there was even a comment about how it's easier to do a barrel roll in a 747 Boeing, than to drift an F1 like he just did.
