What is the best setting to run LFS: both the video and the graphics card 250 GTs.
errrrrrmmm. Highest settings?
you should be able to run it maxed i can i have a ati 5770 which is faster the then GTS 250 but still you should be able to run it maxed
Even a 9400 GT can run LFS maxed out. This is not Crysis.

Even with a radeon Powercolor 9550 without OC you can max lfs and have exelent fps with 32 cars...

From your washing machine?
Uhh, I have a 6800 GT and that ran LFS maxed out at a resolution of 2560x1024, lol. Stop worrying and start racing!

ive got the same cpu with ati 4870 and only 4gb ram, everything max including aa and resolution, but sometimes with full grid i have only about 30-40fps...when cars spread around the track and i can see only few its okay to reach 60 (im playing with vsync), do you experience something similiar?
How is posible with some monster pc someon barely have 30 fps with 32 car's ahead

I have 24 fps with 32 car ahead and i have a old Pentiun 4 3.2 ht, 1.5gb ram ddr1 and a old radeon 9550 , running at 1024*768 with 4aa 16af all sliders to max

disable multiplayer optimisation and you'll understand why it happens.

Plus probably those monster PCs has monster monitors, but I don't think any single monitor setup has much fps impact though.

This should do the others who have a HAL 9000 as pc and play lfs then

That's probably it. As Whiskey pointed out, modern 24" displays can do over 1680x1050 and applying 8x supersampled AA to that is a completely different story. There is also the LOD and multiplayer speedup, which effectively stops calculating physics and graphics for all cars that are further than a specified distance. I had a 3.5 P4E a while back and it was able to run LFS quite fine, it struggled a bit only at the start of the races when there were 20+ cars in the surrounding. And the last but not least, LFS is not multithreaded so it cannot take advantage of today's multicore CPUs, which makes the difference between a highly clocked P4 and say Core2 Duo somewhat lower...
With this setting AA / AF at most I got 90 FPS steady with 18 cars in front when I'm running.

Enable vsync, and you're ready to go! (unless you got a 90Hz monitor)
I'be tryed the multiplayer speed up, 1 race with and other without, no change at all, have the same 24fps with full grid ahead, and then 50-60 solid fps through all the race
P4 is quite bad with LFS. Even AMD K8 on lower frequency in LFS was faster .
Its time to upgrade if you want more FPS with many cars and it bothers you a lot.

I'be updated my video card from a 9550 to a HD 2600 pro, now i have more fps at the start of the race, with the 9550 was having 24-30 fps with 32 cars, now i have 40 to 60 fps, with 4xAA and 16AF running at 1024*768 with all the slider to the max, also with full textures and full skins, with some HD packs from lince

I have some 15 fps slowdown when some cars start to hit masive tires or objects on the track
Like the objects on Aston 3 in the first long corner in cargame.nl

But nothing less, i'm very pleased how lfs runs on my pc and the quality i have in general

The system requirements of lfs from my exp are , P4 2.4 - 512mb ram - Geforce 6200 or Ati 9500+
To have a decent fps with "Good" visual
I think the slowdonw might be due to your CPU. P4 was not real deal at the time of K8 but I am glad you enjoying LFS better now.
