Bang on, most GP's aren't interested in these types of "injuries"
Take a rest Nathan. I had it yesterday in my shoulders, today it's gone. Don't do strenuous stuff for now, especially running, cos you are on your legs too much.
Sorry for the late reply. I have been out of Town for a day or so.

I have been reading some of your guys opinions, and it does sound like "Shin Splints". The Pain comes from my Calf muscles and then goes down onto my lower leg bones. The Pain can become so bad that I seriously stuggle to even stand.

They have been Improving over the past couple of days though. Only issue I have had was from working on a Car today, which at one point, I caught my Leg in the Engine Crane and it has caused me some discomfort throughout the day, but it is now better since having a bath.

Thanks for all your Replys. And to all the Trolls, I realize this is not a Fitness Forum, but this is the OFF TOPIC Section, which is where I am allowed to post whatever I like, which I have gladly done.

I will see how my legs continue feeling through the week and will keep you posted.

Thanks!
Sounds like genital herpes to me.

He's going to say: "It's shin splits, take a rest!" - if he just says "Take a rest!" and you actually walk out of his office without enquiring you didn't really want to find out what it was in the first place.

In a country with good health-care there's really no downside to going to a physician to check on a physical ailment, is there? I don't see the reason for downtalking the advice of going to a doctor - even if there's solid advice given in this thread! Sharing experiences is what a forum is all about; share stories about your shin split adventures, but don't make the diagnosis 5000km away just because it was what you had.

:ices_rofl

That was a good respond hehe Mysho
shin splints are sexy get better running shoes and take it easy I need some better shoes myself
"Better" is a bit subjective, what may be better for you, may not be better for someone else.
Better= shoes that better cushion/support your feet when running. also, maybe look at the form you were using while running if that is what caused it. also, getting the heart rate up and blood pumping (warm up) is good too w/ a light jog or something before you start running hard
This is the point I am making, not everyone can benifit from better/more cushioning, infact, going to a lighter, less cushioned, less supported shoe could be very benificial for some people.

You can cause just as much damage running in a shoe that is over cushioned and or overly supportive, infact, theres a school of thought that says running in cushioned shoes lets you heel-strike, when infact you should be mid/fore foot striking.

Bottomline, if you are going to be doing any length of running, get to a specialist running shop, or sports pediotrist and get your gait analysised and get something that suits you.

Listen to the running Guru
Nathan,

Try walking up on your toes more.

Try eating atleast 2 bananas a day.

Make sure you get plenty of water.

And try doing an exercise called Calf Raises, once a week. No matter how bad it hurts in your muscles, do that exercise anyway.

Oh and try walking without your shoes on.
