Or here for DIY motion simulator (I'm actually thinking of doing something to my existing Nixim cockpit, reading through the link below it doesn't seem that difficult if you've got a little bit of technical knowhow)

This is pretty detailed

http://www.0-60mag.com/needfor ... NFS_0-60_R-Cade_hires.pdf

If someone comes up with an original detailed design of there own for 36 quid then I will eat my race helmet.
Quote from aoun :The design will be made out of MDF wood, so make sure you understand what can be done with MDF. No bars/framing etc, just a shell pretty much.

Damn... I already built my cockpit/ The only problem is it is all frame. Never got around to building the shell.

I like the design of mine. Shifter is in a good location, pedals are angled, wheel at perfect height and I even have myself a real seat from a Pontiac Fiero. I even have a switch panel for my headlights and other things.

I'll see if I can get motivated to design something for you. Something that fits your requirements..
Just one thing, How tall are you?
#28 - aoun
Im roughly 6''.

LOL my bad, i wrote that thinking, thats the abreviation for feet right? (wasnt sure).

I guess i deserve that one!

Im 6 foot, but i guess 6" now.

As i stated in a previous post, if no one else really enters this, ill work with MariusMM and i suppose he will get the 36GBP voucher.

However, i held this comp because i wanted a designed cockpit, and wanted to give something back to this community, so that said, after this is over, ill hold another competition with the traditional requirements (ie, quickest lap time, or design a skin etc). I assumed people would have been interested in cockpits and had an intrest with construction.
Was a gracious gesture and a good topic, I sub'ed immediately when I saw it. Hopefully some more serious people might see it soon.

+1

immediatly thought to find/reinstall autoCAD at the thought of free S3 upgrade but now I think about it, this pc doesn't have a disket drive, and I doubt its much of an autoCAD if its on a disket anyways.

looking forward to seeing some progress and stiff competition! comeon guys
"Google Sketchup", it's free and has mm accuracy and is 3D. If you know how to use AutoCAD it's like 5 times easier and quite intuitive. There are video tutorials to teach you everything about it to.
You can export drawings to many formats including DXF IIRC.
*Sigh* Well I do hope I have some time to design something. Although I _know_ it won't even enter the specifications..

i will sketch something on my physics book tomorrow, too bad it wont be too good, because i am only 14

are you planning on doing anything else with it? joystick attachment? other moniter stands? might want it ajustable, because when you hit your growth sputrt you will be atleast 4"

tilt wheel? i can only give it a shot
i made a little picture in MS paint here. i don't expect to win, and if i do, it would be way to expensive to make. but you could make something around it, right?

I'm more than interested in this.
I think I will try to do something too, using 3Ds Max and Inventor.

Just one thing, I know there are only 2 pages on this thread, but could you please edit your 1st or 2nd post to give all informations you have about the dimensions of the wheel, pedals, distance from pedals, and also your height, preferences for wheel's position, etc?
I think that'd help people a lot.

EDIT : And also, I think what you want is to sit like in one of these images, right?

In that case, would you prefer to have the shifter next to the wheel or next to the seat?
I'll probably work with one of the 2 images for my design.
Decided to reply rather than edit...
Here's an idea of the position of the driver:

Just tell me what you want me to change, the biped in the picture being 180cm tall and the lower box measuring 170cm (I think I can't do something smaller, or you would have to do some gym to fit in your cockpit :really.
Its pretty self explainatory... get a seat make a box with correct measurements for your comfort and place yer cpu etc in it.
on the inside place a stop block behind the pedals to positions to where u need it. The keyboard can be mounted to the side or whereever seen fit. Ill work on it a little more tomoro when i learn the program and maybe get some blueprints.

Nice but seems complex =P.

Also to the requester are u a person who is crazy about looks? Because if you arent i can add a shifter and keyboard mount easily. To a small drawing ill be doing later today (will have measurements and hopefully assembly instructions) if i dont get to it today im sorry. But this will be pretty similar to Marius's but little less complex.

Just to justify that, edges can be curved, but not the actual areas.

Take a look at the first picture in the first post. The wood has curved cuts in it, but the MDF itself isnt bent for the whole area to be curved.

Thankyou for some of the previews so far, thy all look great. Ruhr past week I have been renevating and ripping apart our new house. I haven't had the time to reply to anyone or add more details to help people. It's midday here in AUS, I'll fix everything up tonight. :-)
Very little update, I downloaded the G25 Sketchup model and converted it to use it in 3Ds Max, so I can place the wheel, shifter and pedals better. As I downloaded a full playseat, I also placed the seat.

I am going to create my cockpit by mixing ideas I get from the image you showed in your 1st post and the one anttt69 posted, so I might take some time to finish it...
Anyway, some update will come wednesday, I think.

Sorry couldnt get the blueprints up had way to much homework afterschool ill try and get to it today. :S
Some of these look like you need to be Harry Houdini to get in/out of them.
For the guy who wants a racing cockpit look at this.

Its even been on SRT and the have avid there aswell off it. Scroll down and youll find all the info you need.
It comes with a detailed blue print and you can adjust the steering angle and also to my beleive the pedals angle. Anyway have a peak, sounds and look very interesting.
well, i made a cockpit for my DT major work for school. finnished and all.

even though u only want blueprints, thought id post it on here, cos i dont use it at all haha.
