Everything looks good now. What has this got that all other 3D games from the last five years haven't got?

Quote from tristancliffe :Graphics remind me of the original Far Cry. Not exactly cutting edge anymore...

Nah man, there's a volumetric murkening (how's that for a word!) of the water. Double your graphics hardware these days and that's the sort of benefit you get - added murkiness. Great demonstration of diminishing returns.

Everton look so confident these days, I think all the top teams are scared of them. Nice to see Man U get stuffed by any team though isn't it.

Quote from [RCG]Boosted :tbh i think the "default" graphics are pretty good as they are.

Except the weird sieve-effect shadows. And the motion blur.

Quote from TexasLTU :Fabregas-esque transfer IMO, all I see is him sitting on couch and waiting his chance to go out against Wigan or Sunderland. Or when Rooney is injured.

Rooney will have his worst season ever. He's done. They should have sold him to City when they had the chance.

Quote from Rappa Z :http://www.arsenal.com/news/ne ... d-for-van-persie-transfer

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

He's a great striker but what use is he when he spends six months of the year in physio. If they've got over £20M for him that's a good bit of business. He's probably only got another 2 years of peak performance left anyway, if that.

They will need a better player than Podolski to replace him though, unless they're planning to put Walcott up the middle and play a more direct game, but playing direct would make Wenger physically sick I think.

Quote from KiRmelius :Dude... I don't know how to say... Of course congrats on getting your own place, but damn, that's an ugly place to live

Give him a chance, he's only just bought it. Those little red-brick terraces can look handsome with a bit of elbow grease in the garden and decent windows and doors.

Quote from KiRmelius :Live performances are impossible, as tuning and preparing would take longer than the performance itself.

Not with a crew that size and decent stage management it wouldn't. My girlfriend recently put on a show in a theatre with over 40 musicians playing everything from harp to marimba, some of them only on one tune, the sound crew took it all in their stride and it sounded excellent front of house. If she can do that I should hope an olympic ceremony crew can put on a handful of rock bands.

At least the dancers are actually dancing. Unfortunately the band are dancing too when they should be playing. If anything they should've had more dancers!

Eh? I've never been to see a live band and been fobbed off with a recording. If you do you're seeing the wrong bands.

Quote from dekojester :I actually liked the closing ceremony better than the opening, for the simple fact that it had actual performances of most of the songs, unlike the opening which was mostly recordings that a bunch of people danced to.

Sorry to piss on your chips but while there were some live vocals in the closing ceremony everything else was recorded. All the acts were miming. Even the marching band! Muse were miming, Kaiser Chiefs were miming, Elbow were miming, Madness were miming, etc.

How good are the female boxers? I don't get why it's only just become an olympic sport when there are so skilled. Oh and congrats to Nicola Adams who must be the most energetic athlete at the games, she just never seems to switch off.

Needed to buy a second pair of cans today (was doing a live recording with a guitarist) and nowhere in York sells DT100s so I ended up with a pair of these Sennheiser HD-215s

They don't look particularly nice but I'm using them for monitoring in the studio so who cares (as if DT100s look nice!). They do a decent job for the price - nothing bled on to the tracks despite monitoring quite loud, sound was balanced enough not to cause problems, only thing I don't like is the covering on the ear pads which I can tell is going to wear out quickly. Decent headphones for the money though.

There just aren't enough people playing LFS to make a very big gay team. The only other person I can think of on the forum who identifies as being gay is Becky Rose.

We did have a pretty aggressive Finnish homophobe for a while but he left because he got tired of all the men constantly trying to make love to him.

Quote from CSF :Also lol@ Twitter and Tom Daley today. Got a big laugh out of all of that rubbish. The boy that said what he said is a massive ****, but the mass reaction has been funny.

Apparently the police have been involved - they turned up at the kid's door this morning. What a ridiculous waste of public funds. Imagine if the police had to be dispatched every time somebody called Blueflame a bell end.

Quote from The Moose :Mr Bean is as much "real British humour" as anything. Silly slapstick humour is as British as it gets.

I really wish that - instead of having Tim Berners-Lee sitting at a computer in that house - they'd had Terry Jones naked at a piano.

I was also a bit ****ed off that they had people like Ban Ki Moon and Shami Chakrabarti carrying the olympic flag, only to hand it over to 8 military officers. What message was that supposed to send?

I ended up watching it because I got leathered in the afternoon and could do nothing else but lie infront of the TV in the evening.

I thought it started out well with the industrialisation and stuff, but then it got a bit 'medley' and there seemed to be no narrative to it. The NHS is good - OK - and we've got childrens' literature fair enough I suppose, and here's some kids texting eachother, er... Where's this going? And then who's in the creepy house after the teenage couple are snogging? Tim Berners-Lee. In the dark. Alone at a computer. Looking like he's downloading child porn.

The cauldron is a good looking bit of kit, so well done with that. Shouldn't have asked Ali to take part though he's obviously not well enough, should've left McCartney at home too.

Highlights for me: Starting out with The Shire and then going all Saruman. Dizzee Rascal (finally they got someone from East London involved). President of the IOC thanking the volunteers. Caster Semenya carrying the flag for South Africa.

Quote from dadge :I bought the behringer C1-U (USB) and it's a great mic. The signal is really low though. Behringer say it allows for more head room, but I think that's an excuse. When I record with it, I have to add so much volume to boost the playback.

That's weird. You'd think a USB condenser would have a decent preamp in there too.

I've used NT1-As a lot in the past but mostly on vocals and brass, not acoustic stringed instruments. Very impressed with it - the first take I tried with it right infront of the bridge of my double bass sounded excellent, very even, nice balance of sound from the table and mechanical pizz/arco sounds. Didn't even bother trying it in different positions. The cardioid pattern makes it great for home recording too - face it away from your computer and it picks up pretty much no fan noise at all.
