LEAGUE 2023 ROUND 5/16

Fifth round brought us the first rallycross combo of this year's league, adn it came with a few surprises and lots of fun!

34 drivers signed for this one, and you don't want so many fast (and not so fast) lads in a two leg, reverse grid race, so we split in two divisions.

Division 1

Leg one
LowCost Racing's NeoN got P1 while Hernán of Furtive Racing got P2 and the fast lap. Both drivers broke the suspension of their cars fighting for the podium and yet made it to the end. MAXXIS (Formula Racing) got P3.

Leg two
GUM Garage's King of Ice got this one's gold and the fastest lap of the journey. After being unable to finish the former leg, the frenchman led this one from lap one until he was shown the cherckered flag in an excellent show of driving skills.

P2 was for Brazilian [MRc]PedroBR, and LCR>>NeoN got P3.

Division 2

Team America's Vinsu won both legs of this division's race, and (BRM)socraM got P3 on both occasions as well.

P2 in leg one was for independent driver OSC, while (FR)NJoan got it in leg two.

LEAGUE 2023 ROUND 4/16

And yet again!

La Curva Team's drivers Atomik and Laio Fndz are on their way to lead this championship for good. They outperformed the rest of the drivers in both the qualifying session and the race, and took yet another podium in a very fast race that was not devoid of some incidents.

Atomik showed an extraordinary talent and got the fisrt hat-trick of this league: P1 both in qualifying and race, and the fastest lap as well.

Laio Fndz got P2, and P3 was for Formula Racing's MAXXIS.

After a hesitant debut, La Curva is quickly climbing on the Teams' standings and yesterday got hold of the third position -at just six point difference from LowCost Racing. Leading position is for Formula Racing.

Congrats to the podium winners, and see you next week in Blackwood Rallycross!

GT CUP Round 1/5 – First GTR Duel: Lillia-X vs RB

Hey fellow racers,

The Duel attracted so much interest we had to split into two divisions! Both podiums were filled by Lillia-X... No doubt wich one won this first Duel Cool

Division 1

The guys from Argentina Turismo, a joint venture of two teams: Furtive Rancing (FR) and Top Racing (TR) totally dominated this race. The Venezuelan (FR)Leandro918 leaded from lasp 1 to 26, when an accident left him in second place for the rest of the race. From then on it was the Argentinian (FR)Hernán who led until the end, winning yet another victory in our servers and the first one of this cup.

P3 was for Furtive Racing's Colombian driver (FR)Raigs, who climbed from the mid positions into the podium after beautifully beating Top Racing's Argentinian (TR)Nicoo.

Division 2

Master Race Car¡s Brazilian driver [MRc]PedroBR won this one after leading the whole 45 laps of this race. Extraordinary talent and strategy led him to victory.

P2 was for Spanish Racing Team's SRT|Javi3R, form Valencia, and P3 for the Argentian [AT]Nico.

It's hand-washing on their part. Amazon does the same thing, and some indie authors were abused this way in reverse back in the day: someone filed a DMCA takedown against a legitimate author's ebook, blocking the creative content, and then offered to fix the problem in exchange for a sum of money.

Most of them replied to the takedown, and filled in their personal details -an information that was eventually sent to the extortionist to comply with the DMCA policy- so the ebook was freed again, but those who didn't saw their content hijacked.

There was quite a rampage about this practice a few years ago on the indie scene, and maybe Amazon reviewed the procedure -honestly, I don't know- but in my experience these kind of people do not want your address but your money. If the abused author didn't take the bait and filed against the Takedown, they simply moved onto another target.

In this particular case I wouldn't advise to go against this Discord group or the Twitch one for that matter, because even if you can get them closed it is as easy as creating a new one for them to continue. So much of a headache for a very little gain.

All in all I understand the OP, but I believe that you guys did the right thing to address that piracy problem.

PS. " I think one of the early beta testers put it on a skin for fun, or something like that." lol xD

It is nonsensical, but this is because they require you to fill a DMCA Takedown form, and yes you have to provide that information.

Basically Discord will tell the other part about your claim, and will then require them to prove that their use of the program is legitimate (i.e. they have a license) and give them a period of time to do so. If they do not comply with the requirement, then they will close the group and invite them to settle the dispute in the US courts. That's why they ask for your details, so they can report you in case Discord has made a mistake.

The law requires you to provide the copyright holder's details. If Scavier Solutions (I assume that LFS is produced by Scavier) has a different registered office from your home address and a corporate number, you should be able to use them to fill in the form.

Anyway, it is a pain in the ass. If LFS is now doing good, keep on going

Quote from Lokihon :Hello I'm quiet new here. I will say right now that I'm not interested in MP for now cause I know I would get disqualified in First lap. But if anyone would be willing to play with me for a bit I would be happy.

Hi there!

There's a new race every monday at CESAV, but our training server is open 24/7. You don't need to register with us to practice, so you are more than welcome to come and do as many laps as you want, and then see how you're doing in comparison with the drivers who signed up for that week's race.

Also, the guys at Fragmaster are helding the GTI Thursday and the FOX Friday events, and you can practice 24/7 at their servers, too. The Airio insim will tell you how you're doing.

Check also for the FBM Saturday by Master Race Car people, and see if they suit your needs.

Perfection comes from experience, and experience comes from practice. Don't give up, and if you ever find me online be sure to stop by and say hello -We can train together anytime!

LEAGUE 2023 ROUND 3/16

La Curva Team does it again!

In a reprise of the previous race, both Laio Fndz and Atomik took the Pole Position and P2 respectively in the qualifying session. P3 was for Rayden, a seasoned and beloved driver who has decided to join us again and who also got P3 (later a P2) in race. No surprise he has signed with LCT making this one a true all-star team.

As expected the race was dominated by Laio Fndz who got his third P1 in this championship -three in a row!

Although [MRc]Pedro managed to get P2 he was later DQ as he didn't make the mandatory pit stop, so it was Rayden who actually got the P2.

P3 and the fastest lap -an impressive, 1:18.90 was for Atomik

Congratulations to the podium winners, and see you in Rockingham!

Quote from Avraham Vandezwin :

The problem with doing things before thinking about them (I'm teasing you Big grin) is that you deal with what is possible to do. You only reproduce the same principle, with the same constraints, for more or less results.

The third category I am talking about would allow us to rediscover the magical simplicity of the origins.

Haha xD

Well that's true. I mean I'm not interested in casual racing so no surprise I don't even consider it as something that shall have a collateral impact in improving attendance.

You may be right, and I guess it is not that difficult to implement a "same setup for all" option, and it won't hurt anyone. However, we don't see much of that casual activity going on these days... as I said I wish I'd be proven wrong, but my eyes tell a different story.

Quote from Avraham Vandezwin :

The closest solution would be to set up a specific server, with categories of cars with limited or fixed setups. But that is not yet possible. And it would not work. It would require a specific entry, having the choice between the demo servers, an intermediate class with specific cars and racing conditions, and then the open servers and the current organized events.

3 separate entrances, the intermediate class would serve as an airlock between the demo and the online competition.

Actually you can do most of this thing. Setting up a specific server with certain categories of cars is just a few clicks away from your mouse Big grin Only the car setup is escaping your control here.

Although I'm afraid this chart tells very little as of today today, because it represents a span of more than 10 years of activity, these are the drivers who registered at CESAV and filled in their license in the profile (a must to participate in our events).

These fine people are supponsed to be interested enough in our scheduled events to take the pain in the ass that registering in a wbesite is, and as you can see once someone gets past the Demo and buys a licencese, this will be either S2 or S3.

So, there is nothing preventing me (or you for that matter) to set an S2 server, then exclude some cars and set some conditions (track/layout, wind, time of day) for them. With an insim you can even enforce certain rules (don't ask me, I'm no expert) and while you cannot enforce a setup, the rest you've got it.

I fail to see who this will be attracting a significative number of drivers to LFS, but believe me I'm willing to be proven wrong.

Now, will this improve attendance for scheduled events? Supposing that the pool of LFS drivers skyrockets because we get that "intermediate class" that you were talking about, let me tell you that of the 287 S3 registered racers that we have at CESAV we struggle to get 30 in the grid the actual day of the race, and most of the time we're barely commiting 20.

Thats is less than 10% of our potential audience, and the hardcore ones we're around 10/15.

But this is just numbers. Raw data. And while you may think this is a lousy attendance, all things considered it is quite good. Finding why those 5 to 15 exta drivers attend to our events is a conundrum to me, but I've got some clues. Now I've got to prove them.

Quote from Avraham Vandezwin :So why not think together about a new "ready to drive" racing format, simple and accessible to everyone?

This is not something that you think, but something that you do. Don't get me wrong, I'm not attempting to bash you. It's just that I believe you miss something that it's gone and not gonna be anymore. 2004 was cool because there wasn't anything else, and we were excited about LFS, and younger Big grin

Today it's different, and it is what it is. I have a few ideas on how to improve attendance on scheduled events, but I can't write them down yet. However I believe lfs is walking in the right direction.

Now, about your statement, if you want casual online races you've got two options -you either wait for someone else to organize them or you do it yourself. And yep, that means a lot of solo online racing before peopke like you finds about you and joins your way.

Quote from TFalke55 :Personally my problem with competitions purely organised on Discord is, that they are segregated in their bubble

Discord is a tool, organizing a competition purely on that platform is a decision. Thing is that Discord is a very helpful tool in terms of return on investment, and while I do not recommend building your community solely around it I understand those who actually do it.

We are not yet in a position to provide data at CESAV, but in our experience Discord is proving to be a true gamechanger. It's not just that most of the LFS players are on Discord -we can reach them more easily there, so I guess the word here is engagement.

CESAV has a farily well organized, full of useful features website; we have a section here in LFS forums and we keep up to date the calendar so we can benefit from the Upcoming Events list (really useful), we're also on Twitter and Youtube, and they really help us in advertising and showing some love (lol) for the drivers who come to our events.

We got all of these, yet things HAPPEN on discord.

We know that there will always be some drivers who sign-up for a race and pull a no-show, eventually. Reasons for this behaviour are a known unknown, but sometimes it's something as prosaic as "yo, man, I fell asleep while waiting for it."

On discord you can shout to all of the people in your channel, and tell them to come to a voice channel, make a live show, discuss a new championship, or just remind them that the event is about to start with a few clicks of your mouse... And it is a two way road, because reaching you is as easy for your audience.

AFAIK, engagement is the name of the game.

LEAGUE 2023 ROUND 2/16

24 drivers qualified for the race this time. La Curva Team's LCT-Laio Fndz and LCT-Atomik showed their talent and achieved the pole position and P2 respectively. P3 was for Formula Racing's [FR]MAXXIS .

Race was also dominated by LCT drivers until Atomik had to enter the pits due to a punctured tyre. Laio Fndz got his second P1 in this championship and the fastest lap as well, thus strenghtening his lead in the League. LowCost Racing's LCR»NeoN made its way to P2 after Atomik's pit stop, and [FR]MAXXIS got P3.

Congrats to the podium winners, and see you next week in Blackwood's Car Park!

Quote from k_badam :I think LFS' looks are more of a strong point instead of a weak point. It's not super flashy with loads of motion blur and lens flare, but it looks very real. The lighting needs improving, and some models could do with texture updates and higher detail, but these things will come. LFS looks and feels very organic, and with the new updates in the pipeline I believe it will be the most realistic looking sim there is.

Couldn't find better words. It looks and it feels organic, and that makes it for me. You can feel the car and all the forces involved in sports driving.

LEAGUE 2023 ROUND 1/16

A great begining for this season's league!
36 drivers registered for this round, 34 qualifyed and 27 went in for the race.

Furtive Racing's (FR)Hernán and (FR)Leo showed us again why they are considered two of the top LFS drivers, brilliantly performing in the qualifying. They also did in the race. Unfortunately (FR)Hernán had to retire giving way for P1 to (LCT)Laio Fndz –a very nimble, quick driver who also got the fastest lap.

P2 was for (FR)Leo and LCR»NeoN got P3. Congrats to the podium winners, and see you next week in Aston!

You've been waiting for it and now you've got it -CESAV's League is back. Need we say more?

Starting on February 6th, and until June 26th, we are ready to welcome you in this new edition of CESAV's most beloved championship. 16 rounds in which we will enjoy 15 great mod cars, 2 rallycross events and a great final combo: the FOX at Westhill International.

80 drivers and 10 teams joined us to fight for the championship on the former edition of the league.

Back then, after several heart-stopping rounds, NeoN (LowCost Racing) managed to win the championship's gold prize after beating MAXXIS (Formula Racing) by a mere 9.5 points. Even more exciting was the fight for third place, beautifully won by Hernán (Argentina Turismo) by narrowly edging out Mitsumeku (Formula Racing) by 1 single point.

Teams championship was won by Formula Racing, followed by Argentina Turismo and LowCost Racing.

The most successful drivers of that championship belonged to Argentina Turismo: Leo, who scored an impressive 84 points in prizes, Hernán (34) and Pablo (26).

A new league is now starting and everything has yet to be decided. Are you going to miss it?

Come and join us, registrations are open!
