Quote from Michel 4AGE :I guess you've never driven one (on the limit) ? They really understeer without the DCCD, and not just a little. Yes you can adjust your driving style, but that doesn't make the car understeer less. You're just trying to hide it's shortcomings. On tarmac the old GTT handle really bad, they just belong off-road. But you don't have to agree with me if you don't want to, I'm sure the people with a bit knowledge about cars , or these cars specific, know what I'm talking about.

not sure about your specs but over this way the uk/jap imports seam to have a different chassis balance

i have a mate with a uk version with the same kind of chassis mods as me, but without the import alloy wishbones and such and his car feels like an understeering barge (he even has the whiteline rear sway bar fitted to dial out rear end grip)

most people i know who have fitted or bought cars with the dccd have removed it or changed cars for one without, as the average bloke on the street ends up a slower driver.

one of the blokes on scoobynet is having a hell of a time on his hillclimb car after swapping to the dccd transmision

Quote from z3r0c00l :If I had that subaru I'd be rallying it twice a month... the only place a car with that much grip can be fun in the uk is when you take the tarmac out from underneath it...

the rest of the time they're just too stuck to the road for anything that isn't going to take out a by-stander/driver to be interesting.

Same goes for the last motorbike I owned, 65mph is still first gear for crying out loud, where in this big brother society can you even begin to use that except on a track.

you would be suprised LOL it used to get abused 24/7

dragging it 4 years or so back

sponsored by my mates business

and after i took over a carwash franchise and sponsored it by my business LOL

cant beat some snow donuts on your own land, the used car dealer next door was going nuts PMSL

having good grip does not hamper "fun" and the adjustable rear swaybar can be set harder to give a pretty much RWD drive when needed

Quote from dynofiend :yes this is my everyday car! Its a series 1 xsi with a GTi 16v engine, 283mm brakes, bilstein suspension, a smattering of group N parts and just about everything that can be cut down or removed, has been, right down to the wiring loom.

how do you find the rollcage for everyday driving? i removed mine as i was constantly weary of smacking my head into the bars without a helmet on

Quote from SLIDE WAYZ :the ferrari body kits are ugly. yeah.
and 200kgs is quite alot in a car, so crap speed as standard its 0-60 in 5.2 seconds with less then a grand u can get that to just over 4 seconds. crap handling?? in the yet yes but in the dry its fantastic. ....

not its not, its snappy, edgy and hard to handle on the limit, unless you are a very good driver, "the widow maker" lol remember i have driven one.

they are also very slow

0-60 in 4 seconds for a cheap rwd car??

are you having a laugh?
my own car when stock (bar a panel filter/backbox!!) did 4.5 secs to 60 at croft race circuit. for what its worth i dont think mine is fast until it gets up to around 120 and it comes on boost in 5th, thats where mine seams to really start shifting, it will hit the limiter in 5th gear with next to no effort LOL

i have a few vids of my mate at elvington, drag racing in his MR2 turbo, i should get them out for a laugh
i think i did a few 12.xx sec runs as well but this was about 3/4 years back when i was botherd about "pub talk" lol

civic, nope, never been a fan TBH, cant be bothered with the usual jap scene unless the car has the right mods, and doesn't look like halfords special i have a few mates with 4/500bhp imprezas/evos and although they are nice and such, for genral round the doors stuff, they are shite, laggy beasts that are only good for waiting for boost and then hanging on for dear life

200kgs is not that much IMO, IIRC its the difference between the older imprezas and the new ones?, a increase in boost pressure can overcome that with next to real feeling for the average bloke on the street

if you get S2 you might play, get a bit peaved as you cant handle the GTR cars with the keys or what ever and give up (this excludes alien "[CD]Subon VW" who does crazy times with the keyboard)

if you buy a decent force feedback wheel, you will buy S2 asap afterwards

Quote from Electrik Kar :

Well, its racing at upto 75 screenshots per second (or according to your refresh rate). So, what would you rather? 75 crappy screenshots, or 75 nice looking screenshots?

i would rather the core game was improved with new race modes and such, rather then the devs getting sucked into all the fancy VGA fanboys winging, about how they can not read some minute piece of text on somebody's skin 3 places in front of them on the grid

OMG are people complaining about the costs??

LOL

some people have no concept of running a business, maybe the devs should raise the cost of the program each year to go with inflation??

thanks, checked the link but they are all for garbled text only

my shot shows pretty much all the backgrounds gone, the car bodies gone, and the text "blocked out" not just garbled

not sure why but my game randomly ends up like this

even the title menu screens etc etc

closing the program down and restarting never fixes it, the only thing that works is a PC reboot.

its very strange, most probably not a LFS issue but i would like to "fix" it

Quote from nihil :Its probably related to processor speed.... My CPU is right down at the bottom end of what can run LFS, and I get that pit lane stutter so badly, its a 50/50 chance I'll crash unless I'm on a straight.

i never ever had "stutter"

until my hard drive failed, i then reinstalled everything on a new HD and the stutter started right after this.

i think its a small conflict somewhere along the line but trying to trace it is a nightmare, its not as bad as it used to be, but its still interesting when i had none, and with no changes except a complete fresh install of windows/LFS etc etc it "arrived"
