Quote from troy :somebody could finish the vid and can reupload it somewhere?

I only got 4745kB of it before it got pulled

Hmm, from the viewer, the tyres have graphics for tread, but the tread isn't made from polys.

Quote from Hyperactive :PS. I saw a dream that Scawen send me an SMS saying that the patch will be released on 19th of this month. Because it's a dream it can't be wrong

I had a dream too. Scawen said the patch would be released at a beach, so all LFS'rs went to this beach to get the patch and ended up burried up to their necks in sand. Then Scawen came along and spread jam on all our faces and released 100s of jars of jam-loving skin-eating ants.

Just as everyone was screaming, I felt this vibrating between my legs, and when I reached down to find out what it was, I found my wang had been replaced by a phone. So anyway, I answered the phone and it was my mum. OMG. And she told me I was late for my maths exam, and I hadn't done any revision and I couldn't find a pen.

Not sure what this means tho.

Quote from BrainBT :I think that as real WR are beaten with better machines, actual LFS WR's should be beaten "naturally", no need to reset.

WRs might get /slower/ with certain car/track combos with the new patch. With no WRs reset, unbeatable WRs may then exist.

Jees, will all you people whining about the 'daily updates' that the devs are giving us kindly stfu. The main information is that there's going to be a patch before April is over. So assume the worst, and that means Sunday April 30th.

If the patch is released before that, great. If the devs give us teasers up to that date, great. That is all little bonuses and a bit of fun. If you don't like it, come back on April 30th and see if the patch is out by then.

Quote from B11TME :Can some one confirm this is a new rally track as well in these pics? I have marked it out.

imo no. many of the tracks have little bits of dirtroad like that round them.. plus in those screenshots there are no barriers to the other side of the dirt road, and they're too thin for racing.

Quote from dave_w11 :Are we not getting a weeks warning of the release this time then?

Doesn't the Bible say that Scawen created LFS Patch R in seven days?

On the first day, Scawen created Tyre Sidewalls.
On the second day, Scawen made aero physics improvements
On the third day, Scawen approved new single seater dashboards.
On the fourth day, Scawen improved the tyre physics
On the fifth day, Scawen added new Aston configs.
On the sixth day, Scawen released the patch.
And on the seventh day He rested.

Quote :In Roman mythology a Genius loci was the protective spirit of a place. It was often depicted as a snake. In contemporary usage, "genius loci" usually refers to a location's distinctive atmosphere, or a "spirit of place", rather than necessarily a guardian spirit.

Usage: "Light reveals the genius loci of a place."

Examples of this can be found at tockenham church somerset where the genius loci is depicted as a statue in the wall of a norman church built of roman material.

"but who needs a minute in blackwood"

I think everyone will need an extra minute in blackwood because there's going to be a new addition to blackwood in the form of a forrest track.

Quote from colcob :The hardest thing about the start in LFS is playing lag-chicken. Its very, very common for there to be a few tenths of lag before the car in front visibly starts moving. The first few times it happened, I slammed on the anchors or swerved violently, only to have the car appear half way down the road.

So now its a game of chicken when you start, because for a split second you dont know if the car in front isnt moving because of lag, or isnt moving at all, And by the time you realise its not moving at all, its too late to avoid it.

So very, very true. And also, so very, very anoying.

I really don't care for more tracks at the moment. I'm far from being a master on any of them in the few cars I like driving, so there's still plenty for me to learn!

But I will say that Westhill needs some work. It feels very sparse, hard to take some corners or reearn the track in new cars because there's so few landmarks to judge things from. And there's only one layout. It's a pretty good track but it definitely needs pepped up and some other layouts added to it to bring it up to the standards of the other tracks.

Quote from Victor :... A recent push on tyre physics has resulted in much better tyres which have improved the car handling and driving experience a lot. We have also been experimenting with another interesting feature as well...

At last, fluffy dice on the rear view mirror!

My personal opinion is that LFS doesn't do gravity properly. It doesn't seem to use a constant downward acceleration. Take a UF1 on FE-Club and pull a jump on any of the sidehills. Once the car has reached it's max height, it seems to fall to the ground at constant velocity, rather than accelerating. The cars should hit the ground with much more force than they currently do after being airborne. (It's almost like they reach terminal velocity far too quickly, and then after than it's a constant drop to the ground)

Just a quick headsup to people: If you reset your PB via lfsworld.net, then it also resets the number of laps you've done with that track/car combo. Slightly anoying to have lost 1200 laps, but not the end of the world.

Quote from jmkz :most likely there is a setting changed between the two drivers install, because texture quality does not improve over-night with a driver upgrade

FSAA and AF were most likely different
also MIPMAP quality settings can play quite a large role

Quite sure all settings are the same. Certainly the ones I looked at that could make a difference are all the same. Believe me, on a GF4 I'd notice if I had FSAA and AF on; I'd get 10fps
