HFS isn't just limited in XP, it doesn't work. If you can live with the limits (such as maximum file sizes) of FAT32 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FAT32) then I'd make a 32Gb FAT32 partition, and have the rest as HFS+, then you can still have some files accessible to both systems.

They can read NTFS, but not write to it. They can read/write FAT32, but it's a terrible file system, and limited to 32Gb. I suppose you could partition the drive, splitting it between OS X and Windows, have half HFS+ and half NTFS.

I'd recommend a Firewire drive, my Mac never likes mounting USB drives. Also, don't buy a pre-made one, for less money you can buy a caddy (I like the Icy Box) and a larger drive (I like Samsung, v. quiet). IDE vs SATA probably isn't so important in an external drive, as they're already not super-fast.

Remember you're not going to be able to use the same one for both computers as it comes, the standard Windows formatting is NTFS, and Macs use HFS+. If you want to use it on both, you can buy software called MacDrive to let Windows read HFS drives.

If it's so important, wait until you're in the pits or at the end of the race, then say it

Quote from danowat :Yup, loads of the ugly buggers

Ugly? I think wind turbines are amazing looking machines, and I'd happily have a farm nearby if one was planned.

Quote from Rtsbasic :Wonder what Eric was smoking when he came up with the idea for Fern Bay..

He was smoking something good, because FE Black is possibly the best track in LFS.

It's not possible, but I think it's probably just to save the devs time.

I can't imagine it being THAT hard for them to delete an account and make a fresh one, but there are probably things I don't know.

Quote from Dajmin :The weather was weird here in London then.
It was sunny (but cold) before the tornado. Then suddenly it stormed like crazy, full on lightning and rain coming down like a waterfall for about half an hour. Then it stopped, a rainbow appeared and it got sunny again. Bizarre.

That's the second time I've been just down the road from a disaster since I've lived here - the first time was on the day of the bombings I had decided to travel in the afternoon instead of the morning or I'd have been on one of the trains.

Scary. But I can't help thinking I may have some kind of divine protection

Same weather here (Uxbridge). Some people wouldn't call it London, but the fact it has a tube station is good enough for me to call it London

I'd love GPL style engine damage, it'd definitely stop people shifting without lifting.

As for driver fatigue, last time I did an hour long race my arm was KILLING me (I use a joystick).

A lot of the colour issues come from the fact that TVs are set up to give that 'wow' factor in store. When my sister bought her LG LCD HD TV (:rolleyes I thought it looked awful, then I toned down all the colour settings, and turned off all the "super mega awesome" modes and it looked amazing.

It was indeed bloody windy in London yesterday. That tornado was 14 miles away from me.

Is enthusia actually any good? The fact it's got a BMW 2002 in makes me really want to give it a go.

Even the GTR cars which race in the endurance races don't have any systems installed? Not even the teams use the telemetry for this? Not even in F1?
[/pain]

I don't think many of the GTR cars do, remember at Le Mans recently one of the teams ran out of fuel in the first hour. I also remember a MotoGP rider running out of fuel recently.

I had that one, I was just hoping for something with some more information on the grades. I doubt there's anything around, to be honest.

Does anybody know where I can find information about what is required of a circuit to meet the various FIA grades? I managed to find out what grades were required for different cars, but I can't find anything about how they get the grades.

Quote from Shotglass :id claim after messing up (i doubt it was intentional) he used the angle to make his car as wide as possible to avoid any type of switchback maneuver from senna

While that was an added bonus, I'm not sure it was what he was intending. He's a racing driver, things like that are purely instinct. He reacted to a slide and it had the benefit of making himself a little harder to pass.

Mine was a joke, at how some people will consider the smallest slide a drift.

Having power assisted steering doesn't mean that a car is crap to drive. It all depends on how well it's implemented.

My mum's Saab and sister's Focus are great fun to drive, and they both have power assisted steering. My BMW doesn't have it, and while it might be fun to chuck around, I certainly miss it when it comes to parking.

I always try to guess a wear %age that means one set will be changed and the others won't. The only problem is that sometimes you're wrong, and don't get what you want.

What's your reason for not wanting to use Boot Camp?

I use it on my iMac, and I can't see any issues with it.
