I don't think you can make the limiter work on rpm because you alter the gear ratios and you could be going quicker than 50/80 before it kicks in. It is supposed to be used to stop you going over a certain speed when you are rolling, especially coming into the pits.
If you are using it to wheelspin out of the pits with a safety net, you deserve to get burnt.
If some people didn't know what happens when you start with a pace car and also when a safety car is deployed, at least they do now.
I believe there will be plenty more practice sessions like yesterday between now and qualifying/race day. Personally I recommend that a little race like last night is held after the practice sessions just for people to get an idea of what happens. IE : during the pace laps (trying to keep a steady speed) and hen the safety car was deployed (begin slowing down immediately because you don't want to be doing 180mph when you come up behind the safety car which is only doing 90mph).
I would point out something obvious to the experienced drivers, but perhaps a point that inexperienced oval users would not think of immediately...
Steer as slowly and smoothly as you possibly can. If you are throwing the car into the corners, rather than attempting to glide around the corners, you will burn up your tires.
I drove 50 laps just see what would happen and my front right never got above 127. If during the practice tomorrow you see your front right going beyond 140 you are simply driving the car badly.
Obviously when drafting expect a little more heat.
I have registered for the Kyoto 500, I am not participating in other CART races, and unlike my FM team-mate I don't have a problem necessarily with R2.
I cannot argue that R4/R3 are the preferred choice if you could choose anything, but even R3's last ages when drafting and I am looking forward to the challenge of having to try to manage tires.
I believe this race is supposed to represent the pinnacle challenge, having R3's would make such a challenge a hell of a lot easier for experienced oval drivers.
I don't necessarily think it is too much to ask. 2 or 3 Ovals amongst what 24 other track variations excluding reverse.
If it wasn't a dirty oval, a symmetrical one would be nice like Indianapolis or Super Speedway with a slightly curved main straight (Daytona). You can incorporate a circuit into part of it and everyone is a winner.
How did you get the blue backlight of the LCD display to be "white"? I don't mind the light blue but it would be cool if you could change it to different colours.
Personally I prefer the non-dirty screen as well, it looks more like little droplets of water. The effect would look better in an open wheeler where the potential for rain falling on the display is more likely.
Something I would like to know as well. You cannot filter countries any more. In Firefox all of the servers are neatly stacked on top of each other without any hint that flag graphics should be present. In IE7 & 8 you have the infamous 'red x' where flags of different countries would have been which makes the page look a mess.
So quickly? Because of a minor incident which you describe?
A few people have already suggested this might not be a great idea. Although there are a couple of good drivers who use the Oval regularly in this view. For new people, or people who are not set in their ways too much, we do not recommend it.
Going down low into a turn is good and offers the best line and speed, slowing down to not spin doesn't really make any sense unless you turned down into the corners so quickly and not smoothly that you had begun to lose control?
Perhaps because you couldn't see them coming? There is no such thing as minor little bump at 185+mph/300+kph.
I am glad to hear you were quick to say sorry, clearly at that point you acknowledge it was your fault and you are apologising. If the [FM] member started to vote to ban then I imagine they do not have admin rights and in their opinion it was the right thing to do under the circumstances.
As for people pressing 1 to vote were not in the race, you cannot blame the server and its administrators for the 'press 1 sheep'. I am sure all servers have this problem, as soon as drivers who are not even aware of what has happened see the option to press 1, they just automatically do it.
For someone who supposedly had respect, this shows absolutely none. If you respect the server and its mature racers, in your words, then there is no need for this thread as soon as you run into a little difficulty. A vote ban is only 12 hours. I'm afraid all this thread has done is make you look silly.
As a fan of the club I decided to make a F1 Newcastle United.
I should think around 9 hours went into it. It's quite difficult until you get into it to work out where all of the panels go once the texture is wrapped onto the model. Anyway, as a first-time effort I am pretty proud of it.
