Serious simming for serious simmedy-simmers

If you think there are people in the sim-racing world that take things way too seriously, you might want to give flight sims a pass too...

Had to share - this had me in tears:

Congrats on the album release, FedtStensDyr - the quality of the production is excellent!

We have a Stalker here in Wellington, NZ too: Also on bandcamp.

Quite different as far as styles go, but both rockin' as AF. Smile

Maybe a Stalker vs. Stalker New Zealand tour lined up for the future? Wink

No it's not - that's The Stig and Neil Armstrong that time they went to the moon. That photo was taken at the exact moment that Neil farted in his spacesuit, and Stig is about to attach a fancy gold extractor valve to Neil's suit before he passes out.

No-one is going to give an S2 license to someone who can't even finish a lap of Blackwood.

You need to learn to drive, then you need to learn how to race, then you need to learn to make yourself useful, then you might - might - get some sympathy from the community, but you have many thousands of laps to drive before that happens.

Quote from oppolo :where install png skins?

Your skin file needs to be saved as a JPG - it goes in the ...LFS/data/skins folder. You will need to restart LFS, whereupon the file will automatically convert to a useable skin in-game. In the pit screen, click 'new colours' under the list of skins, a list of all of your installed skins will be shown with your new skin listed at the very top.

Nice work, coming back from an incident like that! The driver of the red buggy behind you in that last race could use a reminder of where to find his brake pedal tho... Uh-hu Big grin

Also, if you're not already, make a folder on your C: drive just for LFS rather than using the default C:Program Files\ path. It seems to work better this way...

Quote from chanoman315 :Why do the mods/hacks [Mod note: Removed link to mod/hack site] are possible to use without warning or getting kicked from the server (until the admin notices) ?

I remember years ago that if you used LFS Tweak you could not get online, it's really a bummer because it is frustrating if the guy does not get caught. Are the devs aware of this?

The best course of action is to save a replay of the hacker in action, and then report them to the server's owner via their website, if they have one. You'll normally find their contact details in the welcome message when you first join the server, or in the server updates that appear in chat every few races.

Most serious racing servers will take immediate action to ensure the hacker won't return to any of their servers for a few years...

Quote from TechEdison :Do you have any specific suggestion between all of those on what would be the "Best" one. Best would mean simplest, highest featured

I was about to extol the virtues of Airio - the Air Attack servers all use Airio, it was developed by one of our old members, so we're kinda biased - but I see you've gone ahead and got it underway already. Big grin

Yes, you'll get one more every Friday. Once you have used this Friday's key, you will receive 1 more on each of the next 2 Fridays (this gives you the maximum of 3 usable keys) which can be used on other computers, or kept in reserve for when you need to re-install LFS in an emergency.

If you do have multiple installs, remember that you can only use one at a time.

Quote from sharshbil :Hello,

I installed my pc 2-3 times, I activate my lfs S2, but now, I dont have more Unlocks. BUt Ive got S2 Licensed.

S2 LFS World Nick: sharshbil

Initially you will be granted 3 unlocks. In addition, you get an additional unlock available every Friday, provided you do not already have 2 unlocks available.

If you can't wait until Friday, you could try contacting the devs here.

But generally, as XCNuse said above - don't try unlocking LFS until you have all of your hardware/OS running properly. Use the demo mode to ascertain wether there are any problems associated with LFS.

An ode to the chicane trees titled 'I miss the trees'

I miss the trees,
I don't miss not missing trees,
and hitting missing trees,
and missing them was for the best,
but I am missing them nonetheless.

There must be some way to do it - If you look at the forces view (press F while driving or watching replays) all of that information is being generated. I'm only guessing, but there must be some way to intercept it somehow...

You could also try tapping into the force-feedback information being sent to your wheel also... Once again, just guessing.

Quote from Racon :I have my monitor as close to my wheel as possible - it's literally touching the back of my wheel. The closer it is, the more of your field of vision is taken up by it.

Judging from every rig pic I've ever seen though, I'm in the minority in thinking that this is important Smile

Back when I was using a screen, I did exactly this too. It made it feel like you were looking through a picture-window instead of a porthole.

@TechEdison - don't forget somewhere to put your keyboard and mouse Wink

It's all about those realistic mirrors! I play a few racing sims in VR now, and you really do miss them when you're in the thick of it...
