Quote from sgt.flippy :One comes from the battery (+), the earth (in my case) just goes from the amp, directly to a sanded down screw under my rear seats. Shortest possible earth is always the best, mine is only few centimeters.

I knew one came from the battery (+) But I didn't know whether the was a specific or better place to earth the amp, thanks for the reply anyway.

Quote from Jakg :I've seen second hands ones sell for £3,000.

Heck my bike cost £2,500 new.

RS50's are expensive bikes, I thinkt he RS looks a lot better then the DNA though, general preference. The DNA's parts are most likely a lot cheaper though, the Derbi's look nice though aswell, dont like the TZR's that much.

Quote from Jakg :It's great that you have £200 handy to waste (in effect).

Why don't you just buy the bike new?

I cannot afford to "waste" £200 on something I can do myself, so i will have to take that risk...

Have you seen the price of a brand new RS lol, I have seen brand new RS50's at £3,000

Dont you have one wire going from the amp to the battery for the power and then you need a earthing wire, I dont know how wiring a amp works really, I saw a diagram but I cant really remember.

I think I will go for giannelli exhaust, sounds the best. I will do all my own work, buy the parts and fit them, my Dad will most likely do it for me though as he doesn't want me to mess with it but I will do all the work when I am able to drive a car.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :I'll bet £50 the engine will sieze at one point or another.

I'm not exactly sure about the RS50, but the 125 requires a new piston at 4950miles, and a new barrel and piston at a little under 10k. (Normally if an engine siezes because of oil starvation or a piston just lets go, the barrel will often need to be replaced. This would cost around £550 to get sorted at a main dealer (not necciccerly (spelling)) an Aprilia one (I'd sugest talking to the chaps at PJE, a place which specializes in 2T engines,) stock many parts and have very good press on the various owners forums. Considering it shares the same engine with the Derbi GPR50, having a very quick glance at a forum pertaining to those, reliabilty seems iffy.

Sounds exactly like a chainsaw

I shouldn't be one to lecture, since I myself am riding around on a desrestriced 125, but what you're doing is much basically saying f*ck you to the entire age restricted thing.

Get caught above 30mph and the police have the immediate right to take your bike there and then to a testing facility, where upon at which time if they find your bike is not restriced, they would most likely seize it, if you're lucky they would just make you restrict it and take it back for a retest in a few days time. Get caught a second time and it's bye bye baby.

It doesn't take much to restrict one anyway. Some people get lucky with RS50's and it dont blow up, my Dad's mate is good with bike engines so he will help me out My Dad isn't good with bike engines like that because he has never been intrested in them.

I think they sound better with a Arrow exhaust on them, dont like 50's with factory exhaust, they just dont sound right, especially scooters.
Dont like the noise this one is producing, sounds horrible, I bet his bike wont last http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v= ... YLhLs&feature=related

Ah I see, stupid why he quit really then.

ajp, you are 18 but you seem to know a lot about cars, where did you learn or are you currently doing a car related course?

I am not going to get a restricted bike. Fully derestricted RS50 with a full Arrow exhaust system as it sounds a little better but doesn't really make much difference in performance. I meant top up the oil, I wouldn't drain it out of a 2 stroke bike. How much do you want to bet that the engine wont seize? If any think does start to go wrong I will fix it asap.

I know it is.

Quote from ATC Quicksilver :My friend got stopped when he was 16, but he was doing 70mph and did a little bit more than just de-restricting the bike.

What on the streets or on a parkway/dual carriage way? If you are careful you wont get stopped.

Quote from Jakg :I don't know anyone with a 50cc bike which still has theirs restrictedIt is, but I don't know anyone who's been stopped (inc me)

They will do 50 - 60 when de-restricted...

Unless you have a very very good job I would get a nice cheap (i.e. £100 - £150) helmet and save the rest for a better PC / Phone / Clothes / Beer / Jacket / Repairs etc...

Well I dont need to save up for a phone as I am on contract and have a K850i until next year anyway, pc is okish just need a few upgrades. I will mainly save up money for my car and parts for the car.

The helmet was just an idea and me to thought it wouldn't look a little weird but couldn't work out if it would or wouldn't, I know it would look weird now. I am most likely going to buy a shoei helmet anyway.

Quote from sgt.flippy :Sjeesh what a bunch of morons in here. A sub in the boot gives a nice extra, I agree, some turn it up too loud and it's moronic. I just turn mine up when I like the song, just like you'd do with any stereo. Difference is, I've got a sub, so you hear the bass outside more. Higher tones go lost outside, but inside it sounds great and very different. Most people don't seem to understand that what you hear outside the car, isn't the same as inside.

I have to agree with you there, what you hear inside is totally different to what you hear outside, sounds a lot better inside.

Quote from zeugnimod :Loud doesn't mean good. I'd like to still be able to use my ears in 20 years.

It didn't say loud means good. The sound quality the audio system he has in the van is good. It isn't obviously on loud all the time, only up shows to show people what he has achieved and for competitions.

Quote from ATC Quicksilver :I thought it was illegal to have a bike that does over 30mph when you're running on L plates?

It is, did I say I will, I just said I heard they run better derestricted.

Quote from RossUK :Well finished my Lotus yay! Really happy with the wacom tablet, makes things so much easier

Here's the finished product with BG:

And one without the BG:

I think I might draw a Formula 1 car next, anyone know a good reference? (preferably when the cars looked good :P)

I can also see a lot of jagged lines in the drawing and also some blurred parts, but still it's very good, I couldn't draw a whole car like that on the computer. I would have a go if I had a tablet PC.

Quote from JO53PHS :Well my trusty radio will trash it.

The competitions go on db's and such like, I very much doubt your stereo will beat it, it's bloody loud.

Quote :Wrong, radios are made just for audio.

You should know what I mean, the only modifications are for sound purposes only.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Well you can hardly rag something which is limited to 30mph.

I dont know if you had a 50 before the 125 but if you did was it restricted? I very much doubt it. I have heard the RS50 run better when they are derestricted.

Quote from ajp71 :My point exactly, take a £5 car, in goes the 'good' audio system on goes the stupid bodykit and you've turned a perfectly good work horse into a completely useless chav mobile.

It isn't useless though. You dont have to put anything in it when you work at a non ferris scrapyard, what would you have to put in the back of it, nothing. It isn't useless at all. Also, because it's a van it should be used for work only, it doesn't. I know you dont like modified cars, so why keep on?
This van linked to below is just made for audio, before anyone starts saying he is a chav he also has a mk2 Golf with something stupid like 500bhp track car, so he is into speed aswell. The van is bloody loud though and the quality is brilliant, normally wins at the audio competitions at car shows. Apart from the audio the van is completely standard apart from a set of white alloys.

Ok then, strange as that has a good audio system in it, the van looks better in person. But, I cant be bothered with argueing.

Quote from keiran :

Better start learning about your future bike, otherwise before you even make it out your drive you'll be needing an engine rebuild!

I know about reliabilty issues with the RS50's but if they are not 'ragged' as they say and well looked after it should do me for the year then get shot of it. People seem to think they break down every week but if they are looked after right it should be fine.

Quote from Paranoid Android :Do you even have an iPod Touch?

Installing foreign apps isn't easy even on a jailbroken one...and you certainly can't add an app that isn't made for the iPhone and the likes...which Fennec won't be...

ah ok, no I am getting my itouch at christmas.

Quote from dean_8486 :setting up a tachometer for LFS and need some 'expert' advice
Im using this board; http://www.apogeekits.com/usb_interface.htm
and..........
tachometer; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayI ... :IT&item=230297829207

Ive run 12v to power and light on the tach and the gauge infomation wire to the Analoge Output screw(DAC 1) terminal.

Now iam stuck, ive played around with the config file in LFS directory, outgauge settings, but I cannot get it to work.
Im out of ideas, and any help would be much appreciated.

I dont know what the part is what you need but there is a component you put on the back which will turn the needle.

Quote from tristancliffe :Whilst it is unlikey a chav would ever wear a suit without being forced into it by his over-protective parents, there is no physical reason why a chav can't wear a suit. It could be that the chav-in-a-suit was on the way to court for crimes against the gene pool and merely wanted the judge/jury to not convict him on sight.

So in your eyes, if you have a subwoofer in your car it makes you a chav, lets hope you dont buy a car brand new with a sub in as standard, you would be a chav and that cant happen lol.

Lol.

Quote :Of course not...Apple would have to agree to put it on the App store and it never will...
It doesn't agree to sell apps that replace its 4 basic apps: Phone, Sms, Email and Safari...

What could stop me from downloading it and sending it over to the itouch bypassing the app store? Or wouldn't it install?
