Anyone found a version of Firefox that works on Windows 7? I installed it, worked fine, then I rebooted after installing a driver and it no longer works lol.

I couldn't have a 106 unless it was the GTI or Quicksilver. 106s don't look nice without the GTI body kit IMO.

Quote from danthebangerboy :Here here sam! I concur!

What, I thought I would try putting it differently lol.

Going with Adrian Flux might mean I may be able to get a 1.4 106 Quicksilver. They are suppose to be good handling cars, and by looking at the specs, they seem to be pretty quick for what they are.

S14, I don't mind you going off topic as your just proving AJP wrong lol.

AJP, stfu lol. You eventally don't know no where near as much about bikes then what S14 does. So shut up and stop making the thread go off topic.

On the insurance front of things. I have been looking on Adrian Flux and they will give anyone a minimum of 20% discount if they have done their pass plus. So I will be deffently doing that. But to the point, they also say if you have done your advance driving course you can get 35% discount. What I want to know, how old do you have to be to do an advance driving course? I will do it, if it saves me money on my insurance lol.

I can't get my parent (Dad) to insure the car for me, his insurance wont let me on his policy as he has a traders policy.

Just looking on Andrian Flux at insurance. They do loads of discount if your part of certain clubs or have done Pass Plus etc.
Linky to where they give examples of quote for 17 yr olds.

The old Beetle is the cheapest to insure even though it's a 1.6 but they are bloody expensive to buy lol.

I want a Mini badly lol.

True, a bit pointless tuning a small engine. Think i'll buy a goodish condition mini leave it standard for 2 years, sell it and get a bemmer, pitty a e36 evo m3 wont be cheap to insure at 20 - they are the same price as a good condition e30 325i lol

Quote from Nathan_French_14 :No offence, but what's the friiggin point? Its a 1.2 FFS, your blowing your money on something which has less power than my lawnmower. With such a small engined car, your not gonna notice ANY difference what so ever by doing them mods, and the getting an ECU remap is pointless. Your just gonna THINK your corsa is faster because of the louder sound. Get your mind out of modifying small engined cars, save your cash, and get a real nice motor when your 19/20.

I am going to get a nicer car at 19/20, hopefully a BMW E30 325 with the M-Tech 2 bodykit in Aplina White - Lovely car If not one of those, I'll get the E36 version.

Quote from mcgas001 :I actually find your arguement kinda pathetic. You say about getting slow cars to learn in, and you see why its like that, yet all you want to do is tune the bollocks out of your first car.

Any new driver on the road who goes for anything fast as a first car is silly in my opinion....

I don't want to tune the bollocks off of it. Tune it over say the 3 yrs I'll have the car yes. Only mods I will most likely do if I get a 1.2 Corsa is have the ECU remapped and chipped, different exhaust system including manifold and a better suspension kit and leave it at that.

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :A 1.4 Fiesta will get 120mph (maybe) which is more than your peice of American shite, look at your roads too, shite unless you live in the canyons

a 1.4 Fiesta will do about a 110mph, thing is though is may not be fast in a straight line, it will piss all over a American car in the corners as their cars can't do corners well lol.

Quote from mrodgers :All these car threads and talk about insurance and your weak little cars are really starting to make me feel sorry for you all.

With the cars you guys are talking about, you wouldn't have to worry about being laughed off the road over here. You'd be run off the road far sooner while you struggle to hold half the speed limit up the hills and everyone else runs you over at 70 mph.

It's stupid in America as if I remember correctly, it's your choice whether you have insurance or not.

One good example with how bad it is in America, the kid who got a M5 for his first car, took it to a runway and killed himself and 4 others I think it was.

I hate that fact that we have to start off in crappy cars but it helps us to learn car control and not step into something that has a lot of power and kill ourselves.

Guys:
Stripped out Corsa B or stripped out Nova or stripped out 205?
I am thinking of any of the cars I get, getting a full exhaust system fitted, including Manifold. What is a derestricted Manifold?

Quote from danthebangerboy :Im just wondering, have you tried that adrian flux insurance company i mentioned earlier in the thread, as from everyone else i tried, they were waaaaay cheaper!

I've heard of Andrian Flux before, specialises in young drivers doesn't he?

Quote from pb32000 :Might help a fair bit. I have a £500 excess I believe which got me the lowest quote.

I would have a £1,000 excess if it would make the insurance cheap lol.

Quote from Shotglass :considering youre going to do horrible things to it anyway i suggest you buy a car that deserves its fate... eg an opel

I am going to make the performanc a little bit better, not change the exterior

Just done an insurance quote on a 1.4 16V Sport Corsa B - £1,922.20 TPFT. EXPENSIVE! lol

Insurance for a 1.2 Corsa B LS - £1,600.20 TPFT with excess of £100.

Wonder how much it would be if I was to pay excess of say £750, which I would if it means cheaper insurance lol.

I wouldn't mind a stripped out Corsa B. Pointless even doing subtle mods to the exterior on your first car. Your a most likely to at least bump it into something, you make your first mistakes in the car.

A Corsa 1.4 16V on the insurance I think will nearly be £1,800 a year.

Quote from Jakg :My car is group 11 and costs a ****ing shitload to insure (£2k for this year).

Proton's get a bad rap - the interior is awful but they aren't THAT bad to drive. Wouldn't recommend one due to the cost of insurance though...

£2k a year how the fak do you manage to pay that lol.

Protons are horrible in my opinion. But, everyone to their own.

Quote from Jakg :Get a Proton. Go on. Nice little Satria or a Wira if you want more space :P

On a serious note - Volvo 460. Pimpwagon, and cheaper to insure than my car somehow.

How much is yours to insure a year? I would never own a Proton :L

Never thought of a Volvo (Ovlov).

What about a 1.2 Stripped out Corsa B.

Quote from tristancliffe :Get something cheap, that is cheap to insure. It doesn't matter what it is. You will still love it, as it'll be wheels and freedom.

Use the money you save on tax and insurance to go on track days with rented cars on the day (like a driving experience sort of thing, but with a bit more track time - I'm sure they exist), go on a decent driver training scheme (pass plus is a waste of time, but might help the insurance for some reason, but I meant a track tuition thing or a day on a skidpan). Learn to use the car you've got (but not stupidly whilst on the public highway).

You will end up a better driver, and you'll be able to afford a decent car quicker than if you buy a van and pimp it so everyone laughs at you at a cost of £££££

Put it this way - would you rather have a shit, modded car for 5 years and no driving ability, or a shit, standard car for 2 years, some driving skill (the training) and then a car that might not get you laughed at.

Of course, if you are trying to pull 12 year old girls then a modded car is just what you need. Vans are probably good down to 10 years old.

A lot slower. A 1000 Mini is not a quick car. Sure, you'll never have to brake for corners, but it'll take a week to get up to speed. But it will be more fun than a Corsa ever would be, even if you spend £10k on the Corsa.

I don't seem to be into heavy modifying no more, yeah I may do it one day but thats part of growing up and doing stupid things lol.

What car would you suggest that would be cheap to insure? I have heard Nova's can be a good laugh with the right suspension on and a little modifying like the manifold. The only thing is, there pointed towards boy racers so much it puts me off getting one lol.

Quote from ajp71 :
A Mini 1000 will be slow, you can only go so fast with 39bhp, the sense of speed in a Mini is on a different level though

I doubt it will be as slow as a 1.4 Corsa with about 75-85 bhp lol. Mini's are suppose to be really fun to drive, can't wait to get one lol.
