Quote from Whiskey :That sounds a lot like your computer is messing up a socket.
Did you try to switch between UDP and TCP packets in LFS? That should work even without leaving the server.

Can confirm after testing stuff out once it happened again, it is a strange sort of packet loss indeed. Eventhough it is on my locally hosted server, swapping from UDP to TCP packets solved the issue. Swapping back to UDP instantly caused it again.

Quote from mbutcher :I understand the premise, it's already clear from what's written in the OP. Just my opinion that 3 is possibly still too high, but better than 5.

And again I agree with you Smile

Especially your concern about it being a long series, which it will be, the entire year of 2020, indeed makes it more fair to limit team points to 2 drivers per team/race.

I will work on this as I am currently making the rulebook.

Thanks for your advice/opinion, it is valued.

Quote from mbutcher :2 is reasonable, 3 is still quite high I think. 2 will be more of a guarantee of a close team championship, especially if you're planning on running this for a lot of rounds, which it looks like you are.

Note one of the official rules already written down, yet not published is as follows:

The top 5 drivers per team score points towards the Team Championship, if however more then 5 drivers of the same team score points, those positions will be ignored for the Team Championship, and the next drivers from teams would score points for the next positions instead, but earn their normal driver points (if any).

Quote :Example: TRR finishes with 10 drivers in the top 10 (points go for top 10) [TC] Racing finishes with 3 drivers, 11th, 12th and 14th. Master Race car finishes with a driver in 13th and WCL finishes with a driver in 15th, the top 5 drivers reward TRR with points. The drivers finishing 6th-10th get rewarded those points for the Drivers Championship only.

The drivers finishing from [TC] Racing earn the Team points for 6th, 7th and 9th, MRc with 8th and WCL with 10th

This would count the same with 3 drivers of course.

Quote from mbutcher :5? That's a lot. That's going to bias the team championship in favour of large teams.

I agree with you, depending on how the sign-ups go, I think I should lower it to 3. Does that sound about right? Smile

A very, VERY anoying bug that occurs often to me. (sadly I didn't record it or have anymore helpfull stuff but:

Often after I've been afk for a while in a multiplayer server, with it usually minimized. And come back when other cars are there, the other cars don't "load". They are completally invisible to me, yet if I would drive on track. (problem persists after race restarts) they will see and be able to collide with me, yet I would drive like a lonely car on track.

Cars hitting me in this moment on their screen, get shot away. Yet I notice nothing and seem to drive in ghost town.

So:
- After idling for a while
- Usually with LFS minimized
- Other cars become invisible
- Other drivers can see my car

Edit:
What usually fixed it for me was reconnecting, not nessecary to restart the entire game.

Introducing the LFS TRR. Championship 2020!

With a prize-pool of 400€ (so far)!!!

This championship does not just aim on individual drivers, but highly recommends shaping teams for the team championship as well!

Our championship will be run (nearly) every tuesday evening, starting around 21:00 Dutch/German Timezone with a qualification followed by 2 sprint races.

Everyone is welcome to join, but clean and gentleman driving skills are a must. Possible disqualifications or exclusions from events or the entire championship may be given to any driver or an entire team, if the stewards and/or admin team find that the right solution. Penalties/disqualifications/etc. can NOT be protested once handed out!

THE RULEBOOK:

https://www.lfs.net/forum/thread/94617-OFFICIAL-RULE-BOOK-for-2020-season

The best 2 team-driver results per race count towards the Team Championship. If any team has more drivers in the race(s) the other drivers their results will be ignored for that specific race for the Team Championship, but will still count towards the Drivers Championship.

--------------------------------------------------------
The prize-pool, for now, is divided into this (subject to change):
Drivers Champion = 100€
2nd in Drivers Championship = 75€
3rd in Drivers Championship 50€
--------------------------------------------------------
Team Champion = 100€ to the team organisation
2nd in Team Championship = 50€ to the team organisation

Why tuesdays?

Oh bugger, I remember now you always host on tuesdays.... Well why tuesdays: been doing that for the entirety of 2019, but then in a private in-team series...

Edit: As well as that I can't on any other day mainly.

Quote from cargame.nl :I summarized your "they vs you" ranting. You obviously show that you have zero understanding about what that link was about. I gave a slight hint in the quote edit. There is no teamracing on anymore, it's all about individualism so it's very wrong to talk about "they" because there is no they.. Just a bunch of unorganized "you's". And thats exactly whats going on in today's society. Facebook, Twitter, Insta, all that other crap.. Just a big bunch of "you's".

All these type of threads look back at a "we"-history and that is what is correct, it's history. Enjoy the bunch of you's.

Whilst I agree with most you say, I personally am trying to create another we [team] situation. With older and newer names with my Team Rock Racing being already back up to 10 active drivers. Smile

And I'm also planning to open/host another league racing series that will last the entirety of 2020, every tuesday evening 20:30 Dutch timezone. Smile

That will have a mixture of car/track combinations, so that everyone has a fair chance and that it's not 1 spec dedicated. So it's for everyone/we/us/they. Wink

I want to bring back the fun of driving [together] in Live for Speed for a championship goal, not just [me] driver's title, also team title to stimulate lone wolves shaping new teams together.

The big: TRR. Championship 2020 Smile

More information on that soon on the Leagues and Events section. Wink

Anyway,on topic - nice to see you back,Rocky. I still remember my 1st win in international level,it was in your hosted Historic F1 Series, where I was running in strong 2nd place and Good Adam failed in one turn on very first lap... Ya right Well, you returned in right time - I believe you liked one event taking place annually on 26th december,so mark the day in calender. Cool

You didn't just win a race, you won the series infact:

You might've forgotten that fact. Smile

And if I have time I will certainly pop by the derby event for sure! Big grin

Edit: And I still got all replays from that season as well. Wink

Maybe I should not make a new topic, and find one to add too, but I wanna say a lot so I decided to make a big new post after all.

But... after joining in with LFS in late 2003 after discovering the public demo on some demo's site at the time. Driving the demo till 2007 and to enjoy every moment, the good and the bad, throughout till 2014/2015 ish. At that point I left LFS for a while.

Recently I am back, so is my Team Rock Racing team with quite a lot of the old but also a few new names that I brought with me from other games. Smile

It's amazing to see this amazing simulator is still somewhat alive and kicking and I am grateful to be even a tiny part of this long lasting legend.

Been playing since 2003 once more, it's about to turn 2020, jeez, we might be getting older and rusty, but if you look how many of us, cause I always saw LFS as a small-ish community, rather then just a game with a user-base, have ended up doing something great in motorsports or sim-racing, like Bottas, van Buren, Catsburg, Teien, Price, Østgaard and many, many more... We may be a darn proud community. Smile

My hope is that LFS revives to another glory period of amazing league racing, high-end teams and more.

If you listen to these great songs from back in the day by schUPpor and look what ScaViEr has been developing still over the past few. We might finally get those ol' Christmas wishes granted, even if a decade later. Smile

I never stopped loving this great simulator game and never will. LFS always was and again is a great part of my life. And I hope I get to say that for many more years to come.

Thank you ScaViEr for the love you put into this beauty of a sim, and for not giving up on it.
It has shaped my life, might even saved my life at times, to have a place to be, meet great people, drive great races.

Thank you, for being amazing, sure we all have our flaws and set backs, we all are humans living our lifes, but your dedication to this game I can only be thankful for more then anything. Smile

It might not be the holiday season yet, but I'm as cheerful as if it was, and I raise my glass and toast to all of you who are still here enjoying this darn beauty of a sim!

Peace,

All Angels Gone... is a small and short tribute to the good old days of highly active league racing. And how great those days used to be. As I do miss those days. Smile
