I would join you guys on this (if there was any room left!) but Wednesday nights is when I go see the girlfriend. Maybe the next one, if it's held on another night.

Quote from Crashgate3 :and he's also said he'll teach me how to drive *properly* as opposed to how to drive to pass a test.

First thing my instructor told me when I got in the car was "I'm going to teach you to pass a test, you don't really learn driving properly until you're out there on your own." and he was right! I've been driving for 4 1/2 years and I'm still learning, my biggest problem is I'm sometimes too hesitant to overtake, but I'd rather be hesitant than end up going head to head with a car coming the other way!

I went with a local insturctor with a Hyundai Getz. Awful car to drive, but he had an 85% first time pass rate and was cheaper than other local companies, he was recommended by a friend too and he was a brilliant instructor! I had my test passed within 3 months of starting lessons. First time pass with 1 minor which was my own mistake and nothing to do with the car. So I think if you're taught well the type of car you learn in shouldn't matter.

The weirdest thing was after passing my test going to a brand new Toyota Yaris, which, compared to the Getz was a joy to drive, but still awful compared to the Ford Focus I have today. Takes some time to adapt to a different car, but once you get used to things like where the 4 corners of it are, clutch biting points, way it handles etc. you'll have no problems at all.

Quote from danowat :Ok guys, how about a little hotlapping funfest!!!!.

Any E class car (up to E275), tuned however you want, driving on the Maple Valley Short (forward) curcuit.

Time must be HLVC (i.e. no warning triangle)

Lets see what you can do

Possibly another tenth to come off it as I messed up T1 on that lap, but after 20 laps of trying that was my best!

Quote from danowat :I love the chicaned New York track!!!

I have to say I've noticed I'm crashing at the 90 degree corners in New York much less in Forza 3, but end up crashing just as badly or if not worse at the chicanes... I keep wanting to take them flat-out and then remember how tight they are!

Can I point out something to people who are saying Forza 3 has graphics flaws, or 2 things actually.

1. You don't notice it AT ALL when you're driving, the game is all about driving. If you play the game (not just the demo) then it would be interesting to see your reactions to it after that.

2. You play Live for Speed... One of the most graphically dated 'current' games out there. Do you flame that for graphics and textures as much as this?

Could Forza 3 be the cause of many marriage/relationship mishaps over the next few weeks?

Quote from Dajmin :Can't deny I'm looking forward to it though. Which starting car is everyone going for? I'm thinking mine will probably be the Fiesta, but I might choose something else just to be different

Fiesta for me Being a Ford man, I have to really. It'll be upgraded to a Focus once I have the money for it, then the Focus ST will be upgraded/downgraded and will probably be my sole car for as many events as it lets me do with it! Although I might use the RS instead of the ST. Will see how the game goes.

Mmmmmmmmmm tastey... I can't wait for this! I love the demo and I'm bound to spend many an hour on this when I should be doing uni work/seeing the girlfriend.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Haven't you learned from previous mistakes by now, not to trust those bullshots?

I'm sorry but I'm sick of your trolling. You don't like it? Then LEAVE THIS THREAD. Nobody forces you to put a comment on every released screenshot to say it's shit.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Post some pictures people..

I'm back at work now, so that renders me useless for that! Can't do it after work either as I'm out tonight.

My girlfriend is still on it and is addicted to it now (according to her last text message to me)... She likes the easy mode very much! However asking her to do something technical like taking screenshots is a bit of a stretch!

Had a quick go in my lunch hour did a race in the Ferrari and the Evo X, and it's very very very good! Cars handle as I imagine they would, it looks superb both tracks and cars. I like the cockpit view because it doesn't vibrate around everywhere making me feel sick, it's pretty much a static camera that works for me. Very impressed by it, roll on next month!

I play RACE07, I organise leagues with touring cars mainly too (using STCC addon). The best online racing is usually found within teams and communities. Indeed the community I organise leagues for is just coming towards the end of a BTCC inspired league, using their tracks, points system and my own ballast and race format. So far with a full sign up of 25 drivers + 5 reserve drivers we've had 1 complaint from 16 races, and that was track cutting which wasn't severe enough for any penalties, just a warning. Also there's 10 points covering the top 3 places in the championship (before drop scores), so it's a close run thing too!

Edit: I'm quite a fan of it as you may have guessed, the racing is close, and very good fun when the majority of the drivers are on ventrilo too (everyone is told to keep quiet in races!). Public servers are a bit of a nightmare, but locked community servers are the place to be.

It's only about 5 miles away from me and I've never been there before! I thought it was closing down last I heard. Clearly not.

Quote from lukelfs :Hey, Do u use SLI? And thanks for ur info , What do u think i could get out of a E8400 Stock cooler? Thanks agian

Well, If i was to buy the XFX i will get it tomorow, If i got the Asus P5N-D i would get it next tuesday :S

Edit- In the end I chose the XFX 750i SLI, Just ordered it, Will be here tomorow :P, Thanks for everyones help!

I didn't use SLI, but as of last night I've added a GTX260 to replace my 9600GT and kept the 9600GT as a physx card. I've found the space between the 2 cards is very tight, there's 2 fans on top of the GTX260 I got, meaning cooling could get interesting, but after testing last night, seems to be all good so far. If it does become a problem then I guess I'll have to get rid of the 9600GT.

Quote from GenesisX :

1. P5N - D : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/ ... odid=MB-265-AS&tool=3
You find a review here... It is supposed to be a good product... but horrible for overclocking... totally dependent on you. found here:

I have a P5N-D and I've had no trouble with it and overclocking, my C2D E8200 is at 3.2GHz from stock 2.66GHz, with time I could probably squeeze 3.4-3.5GHz out of it, but I got lazy and stuck at 3.2 for now.

There are a few problems with the bios causing the USB to sometimes play about a bit (or there was on mine) but a flash to the latest bios version fixed all the problems.

Well I downloaded it after I got back from work yesterday and had a quick go before the girlfriend wanted some attention from me.

I must say I'm very surprised! As much as I hate codemasters this is very good! I think Quicksilver said it all really, it's a very fun game to play, really good on the pad (xbox 360) and a massive improvement on DiRT1. The thing I like from reading the previews compared to the first one is that you can put any car on any track which is an added bonus!

I might buy it on release, I love a good fun semi-arcade rally game to play on console, and for me this is the first good one to come along since the WRC games on PS2.

Quote from ATC Quicksilver :Muse - Uprising

I can't wait for the new album, it's going to be so awesome based on the two tracks I have heard so far.

I think Uprising is really good, however I'm still a little disappointed by USoE. Hopefully the rest of the album makes up for it!

RIP Sir Bobby.

I met him when I had a tour of St James's Park while I was in school. The thing that stuck out was that he was a fantastic bloke who loved football and had a brilliant sense of humor!

Football has lost one of the true passionate gentlemen of the sport both on and off the field.

Quote from Jakg :Nah I just kept my 8800GT and put the 9600GT on eBay. I only paid £4.97 for it anyway so I can't complain

I'll give you £25 for it.

Could do with more graphics umph to go alongside my existing 9600GT, I wonder if they'ved dropped in price much.

Quote from chanoman315 :like 10 pages of technical problems ... booriing

...and the point of that post?

Anyway, back on topic. Modding is hitting GTA IV in quite a big way, at last! Car mods are out there, just starting to trickle out, no doubt over the next few months there'll be enough car mods out there to replace every in-game car! Some very nice looking mods and tweaks out there, I've re-installed GTA IV on my home PC and intend to check out some of the mods tonight.
