I hope the devs will reconsider. I can already see those green, slimy humanoids making F11 changes before every corner while hotlapping. Or perhaps even preparing macros to do it for them. It will make me really sad when I do "/w wr" in-game illepall
I don't know if this had been proposed, but I see it's not mentioned in the "Improvement Suggestions Log".
After a short talk with a potential sponsor* for my yet non-existent team, I came to the conclusion that it would be very nice to have the option to set a custom banner for a specific server. This could work like skin auto-download now (although the banners could be downloadable straight from the server to save space & bandwidth on LFSW). The custom banners would replace those of fictional companies that we have now. This option could help teams find sponsors, who would pay for the server, because anyone joining the server would see the advertisement (no team members with flashy skins required ). Therefore more quality servers could be available to the community. What do you think?
* - that would be my mom, actually She sells motor oil, so she's sort of "in the business"
Haha, never actually thought about that. This could be some seriously valuable advice, as I had some "misunderstandings" with one of the persons responsible for the server
Thanks
Hi,
this is really strange - there is one online server to which I cannot connect - I get "Did not receive track info". I can go and drive on just any other random server but not this one. At the same time other people can connect to the server, no problems at all. What could be the reason?
(I use the Win XP firewall, but let LFS connect)
edit: can someone please rename the thread..? that is an embarrasing lack of grammar
The team will sort of "split" - at least 4 members will form one team, some other, including my humble person, will probably form a second one. This decision came out of the blue for some of us, but life's life
For sure I wouldn't. Not with my leet skillz
I bought the DB9 connector for about $1, the telephone one shouldn't be (much) more expensive, so I think it's definitely worth it.
Move along, nothing to see here...
Some maintenance stuff I guess, and remember that what we'll get in April is a progress report, not a patch I tell you. So relaaaax
But gt being 1sec faster on BL GP means nothing, because of the long straight, where it gained the most. I remember that in S1 there were a few tracks with gti WR's better than those of the gt. My opinion, but I think many will agree, is that the differences were small enough to consider it fair, because gt is harder to control.
Now there is 1 (ONE) WR by gt better than gti (three if you count oval+oval rev).
My opinion is the change was an overshoot. A big one.
1. gti vs gt
I have a feeling that the power correction for the gti was based on the bl1 times, where the loooong straight made most of the difference for the gt. On the other tracks though, the two cars were pretty close, and although I admit that gt had majority of the wr's , I think that was OK because it was a tad harder to master.
2. fxo vs gtt and rb4
I've got one simple solution (I think): reduce the fxo's tire width. Voila.
I dont know if it had been suggested, but how about including car setups (optional "install" ofcourse)? At least Bob's "Easy To Drive" sets? I think this would be great help for newbies, as the default/race_1 setups aren't that great. Hmm?
Did some measurements today, and I have to say I have no idea what the hell is going on with these pots.
I think the brake pot might need replacing, but anyway how are such resistances possible?
Data included in jpg, more convenient that way I guess.
I tried swapping the ground and +5V cable on the brake pot, since the weird problem was revealed within 5 minutes of me finishing the rewiring. After the swapping, the weird effect wasnt gone, even worse - it occured near "zero" position of the pedal, making it completely useless. So I came back to the original wiring and made the mechanical block of the movement. Changing the wiring at the connector will be the first thing to do when the wheel comes back to me I guess.
The pots are mounted firmly and are driven by a cogwheel - movement smooth for sure (and they havent been messed around with since the day I bought the wheel).
My original MOMO pedals work OK if we disregard the fact that actually they dont . I mean they have the spiking issues, pots gone loose etc. Thats why theyre probably heading for a scrapheap somewhere near Logitech HQ as we speak
As for the other "custom" pedal set, I borrowed it from my friend. We took the cover off and checked the wiring with a multimeter and it seemed to be OK. Due to polarisation though, the weird effect occured at the other end of the movement (that is near zero, not 100%). And as for the deadzones - the ones near 100% reading are gone because of the mechanical restriction of movement, the ones that are annoying now are near "zero". I'd have to make some restrictor there too. And I will probably do that if I cant find a solution to this whole mess
One thing I am still not sure about is whether the "direct.jpg" shows the connector from "behind" or from the front. Looking at the shadow[edit: doh... from behind the connector looks totally different, so I guess it must be the front view], I deduced that it is the front view. There were some other pictures on the site I mentioned earlier, and IIRC they supported my opinion (but since they dont load now I cant check).
