The thing is these custom pedals I'm using originally had totally different wiring, which I got rid of. I soldered new cables according to the schematic, not colours anyway. I think there is something really suspicious about this whole thing, because when I limit the movement mechanically the pedals work absolutely OK (apart from rather big deadzones).
It's wired according to the schematic that was given on the page I mentioned (although when I try to open that page, the pictures seem to be missing). So here's my backup of the wiring pattern (I'm pretty sure I've connected my cables&pots exactly like shown here; if nothing helps I might have a look inside again though). Thanks for help,
maczo
PS Did I mention that the same thing happens with a different set of pedals that I borrowed from my friend?
Everything would be nice but for two things: big deadzones and one really weird anomaly. I'll try to describe with a graph, which you can find below.
The wiring of the pedals makes one of the axes inverted, and in my case it is the brake axis. Now what happens is that when I reach some threshold value of pedal position, the gas pedal (or rather the pot), although untouched by me, produces suddenly a maximum reading (that is - it goes from zero to "pedal to the metal" in a fraction of a second) and keeps producing it until I partially release the brake pedal. So my question is: what could be the cause of such behaviour?
My temporary solution is to just mechanically restrict the movement of the pedal, because it reaches 100% output below this threshold value. But this is not very nice, and the rather big deadzones make the gameplay quite irritating at times. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Note:
I have no theoretical background except for what I've read on forums such as this one. Don't laugh, please have patience. Thank you.
Can you please please please explain why the difference in these two situations? I would expect that in point 1 it would also be max power. Why is it so?
Perhaps I can also ask a question with an example. Lets say we have two identical bicycles, with only one gear. I find someone my weight and we both have a seat on our bikes. Someone pushes us both so that we achieve the same velocity. Now:
Let's assume the pedals are on 1meter rods so that Nm=N numerically (right?). My friend applies 20N of force on his right pedal every time it is in the same position (that is under his foot), but isnt interested in his other pedal. I apply 10N of force on each pedal. That is, he is applying 20N once per rotation, while I apply two times 10N per rotation. Will my friend be accelerating faster? This is what has been bugging me, and I think it might also be what BBT meant with the "force over time" thing. Thanks in advance.
i think i heard on tv (commentary during some touring car racing? im not sure) that there was an unpleasant surprise, when someone tried to cut a chicane that was "guarded" by a pile of tyres. well, the unlucky driver did not know that during the break between seasons the inside space of the pile had been filled with... concrete illepall
no more "tyres flying onto track" problem i guess
I could also add, that (at least in the small FWD GTRs) it might be beneficial to ease off the throttle a bit and gain in grip a lot (through not overheating the R2's at all or very slightly).
Very interesting read, keep up the good work guys.
hi,
i tried to give my mates this link: http://setupfield.teaminferno. ... ar_id=22&p_version=S2
by pasting it in the chat, but the moment i press ctrl+v LFS performs an illegal operation. is the link just too long or some special sequence of characters makes it crash?
if this problem was mentioned, please remove the thread, thanks.
cheers,
maczo
ummm ok then... here goes although i have no idea
lower and upper wishbone deformation?
edit: after looking through google images i think i even might be right http://images.google.com/image ... en&btnG=Search+Images
this kind of damage probably results in altered camber. ok, so now maybe a few words from someone who actually KNOWS?
isn't it common for the server to send (and i assume also receive) 3 to 5 packets per second? the inaccuracy then would be huge when talking of close racing. isn't the time "held" on each drivers computer and then a packet is sent with "i finished in 11:02.10" ?
well, that is not the WHOLE examination, only the first part. if you pass it, you go for a little spin on public roads but if you fail the parking thingy you can go home though.
did you try south city with its bumps? i can hardly imagine being bored, even in the lx4.
for you maybe its fun just to make the 6 go approximately where you'd like it to go, or maybe you are just a far better driver than me. i prefer closer racing in a tamer (not tame, mind you) car.
cheers
also, with the coming races of nations cup, a (some?) server(s?) switched to lx4 @ so long, which is a very VERY nice combo. yet, the most players i saw there was less than 10... everyone loves the lx4, nobodys driving it...
ok, today i hope the last update. i found one more situation in which some players might have been skipped by the parser, i also fixed a minor error in csv output.
i also would like to mention that i dont have enough replays to do decent testing, so if something goes wrong please let me know.
well, yes it does, but someone might prefer to copy-paste the html code into his site rather than find out how to make the text table look good (multiple spaces problem) and then color it to fit his needs. you know, having a choice is usually better, and as for lfs tables functionality - its not bad to make something better, or at least making it meet popular needs
ok, i had some time to improve the program. now it finds drivers who didnt finish and it also outputs in csv format (i hope ). hope to see some feedback from you guys.
ikkah, are you sure you placed all lines of code referring to output? im quite convinced that your parser doesnt output drivers who didnt finish (although i dont doubt it FINDS them - stole some code btw, hope you dont mind ).
cheers,
maczo
P.S. new version in first post ofcourse
P.P.S question about csv - should i include all information like in .txt output (track name, no. of drivers, no. of laps) or should it only include row-by-row info starting from 1st racer?
