Quote from 5haz :I'm doing this so I don't have to stack Xbox games on shelves, the subject and subsequent career I have chosen requires as much education as it does hands on experience, hence why I took a degree. Its also one which is in demand and is of significant benefit to everyone in a wide range of not too obvious ways.

I think you'll find that was a thinly veiled dig at me.

Quote from Migz :Are you crazy? £20 is almost enough for a decent 4 channel amp? Maybe if your also buying shit?!

I bought my FLi 900s for £31, my FLi 800s for £28, my JBL GTO4000 for £32 & an FLi 1000m for £18... admitedly, no Genesis or anything, but still much better than the HU's amp.

The 900s will hopefully drive my midbass speakers... i'd class 4x 100w RMS @ 4Ω as more than enough to power for that job.

So in conclusion

Because Becky is a "serial over-achiever" who made it at a non-academic subject (programming) without any real qualifications, nobody needs to go to University ever?

There are some things that you can't just "absorb" and learn - for example how to nVidia design chips? How do we end up with machines such as CERN? There is no way you can do this wthout a LOT of knowledge.
Quote from Intrepid :'Investing in the country's future'. AKA bribing the public, with the public's own money

Of course, it's not like Universities actually do any research that makes money... oh wait.

Quote from Migz :
It wont cost the earth even if i buy shit.. £20 on a few speakers, if they're shit they will go in the shed and ill buy some other decent speakers. Still doesn't cost the earth.

If their shit (which is a yes) you've just thrown away £20 - £20 is (almost) enough to get you a decent 4 channel amp.

Quote from Migz :Me and my dad are slowly working on giving my car a pretty decent sound system, so far i've just got random bits and bobs. But we've decided were going to go through each part of the system and upgrade it. Already got a decent headunit, now were on speakers and though we'd give some cheapy ones a go to see if they're any good, next will be amplifier for the speakers, then its a better sub + monoblock amp.

If you buy shit, then buy something slightly better, then slightly better again you are just throwing money away - it doesn't have to cost the earth to do it right the first time.

Quote from Migz :They may sound utter arse, but they will sound far better then what i currently have in my car (One 5w 3inch speaker.) And if they are absolute b0llox im happy to spend more money on better speakers, me and my dad just wanted to see if these would be any good, we like to experiment with lesser known brands.
And i think it was about £20-30 for the 2 front speakers, and 2 6x9's.

£30 would easily get you some decent, branded co-axial speakers which will sound good (albeit second hand).

Instead you've got some dodgy Chinese co-axials which are going to sound like absolute arse. And then added to that, you've got some 6*9's... which will admittedly give you a little more low end bass (geussing the co-ax's are 5 1/4"?), but nothing on a decent sub. And at higher frequencies (which it's going to be playing as I doubt you've got any crossovers) it's going to sound rubbish, and overpower the front speakers anyway.

Doing ICE properly needn't cost the earth... but it will do if you buy shit.

Quote from Becky Rose :2) Surgery is one of the very few subjects where academia actually adds some intrinsic value to the job which you cant get by experience alone.

So what you ACTUALLY meant to say was...
Quote from Becky Rose :Without life experience a non-academic degree is worth nothing to either the student or the employer.

But no, then you couldn't tar everyone with the same brush...

So how do you propose that anyone learns how to do a job that requires a large amount of specialist, technical knowledge - you have to learn it somehow, unless "life experience" somehow makes you an expert.

Quote from Becky Rose :Without life experience a degree is worth nothing to either the student or the employer.

Because 3 years of learning, studying and practicing a subject means absolutely nothing at all... look at all those Surgeons they employ with no "life experience".

Theres some absolute bollocks in this thread

Quote from matijapkc :Then why the **** the guy at the local pc equip shop told me that 5ms equals to 75Hz?

I thought it was the way you wrote it since he told me that sh!t of his...

Also, Hz, how often stuff happens in 1 second...

75 Hz = 75 every second = 0.013333... seconds between frames = 13.333... ms between frames.

Quote from Luke.S :surely he could have just got a more expensive car to start with rather than an Astra.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :So you're telling me he paid £20k new (example) and then after 2 years of presumably not turning a wheel, sold it for £20k? The guy is deluded.

I dont think it was 2 years (figure in my head is just under a year - but the thread is RIP now), but it was (as is the new one) his daily driver.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :IT WAS A NEW CAR LOL

...and? "Factory fresh" paint is rarely optimal... just look at the threads on detailing world involving new supercars!

If my car didn't get abused (country roads, grit, salt, dirt, stones, sharp hedges) i'd detail and correct my car... but it'd be a quite job to correct 6 years of paint abuse.

I'll admit he took it a bit far, but it doesn't make him an "absolute twat". We all spend money on things that few other people appreciate (heres my latest - inb4flame), but his doesn't hurt anyone, and i certainly admire the end result.

EDIT - Laugh about the Astra guy all you want, but he bought his last Astra new... and when he traded it in he got exactly what he paid for it in P/X because of the condition!

Quote from S14 DRIFT :
Seriously though, alot of girls don't actually know what they want until they're at an age when they've matured enough to understand that what you want in a partner is someone who is reliable and dependable, not some baseball cap wearing knobend who goes clubbing and flirts outrageously with every girl possible. Generally between the ages of 16 and 21 most girls are into the above, after which point they mature enough and realise that their boyfriend is never going to move out of his mother's council house and so they find someone else.

Or, alternatively you could look further afield than your local Maccy D's for a girl.

Seriously, where the **** do you get this shit?

Quote from Klutch :read up

shes one of my closest friends, not some random

theres no reason she would "play" me, she can get sex from me any time she wants, she gets both the emotional and physical side to our friendship.

Except, she is playing you, otherwise she wouldn't keep you hanging on with "yes I have a boyfriend so nothing can happen but maybe you will have a chance".

Otherwise you might just give up giving her the attention she wants...
Quote from Klutch :She hides that side of her because shes worried it will scare him away. Does that seem like a great relationship to you? If anything i'll be doing the guy a favour.

That sounds like *every* relationship to me... nobody ever tells their partner every dark and twisted secret straight away

inb4 - "she told me" - you said you've been friends for years. My point was when you meant ANY new person you dont just jump in their with your skeletons.

If you think you can "steal" her away then go for it... if someone did that to me i'd be pissed, but at the same time if it's possible to steal a partner they couldn't of been happy in the relationship anyway

Cloning RAID0 Array To A Single Disk
Jakg
S3 licensed
Want to expand my RAID0 array to include some new drives, only way I can do this is copy everything to a backup drive, make a new array, copy it all back. Don't want to wipe, so just wanted to clone everything.

Just tried running CloneZilla, but it's not picking up the RAID array - apparently it's "fake" RAID on my mobo, thus it doesn't work.

Can anyone recommend some software that will let me exactly duplicate the contents of my array onto another disk (that I can then boot from to make sure it works!), and then back again?

I fail to see why we dont have the climate for winter tyres - they cost a little more than summer tyres, but you usually go for smaller wheels so they are cheaper overall.

Even if you only use them 1 month a year, thats still 1 months wear your not putting on your summer tyres... eventually it doesn't really cost any extra.

Having said that, my Falken FK452's are performing surprisingly well considering their 225 / 45 / 18, although they very nearly made me end up in the back of a Mondeo at work the other day...
