Sounds excellent, can't think of anything to complain about. I wish you luck and don't let yourself get put down by the the people who sooner or later are going to start flaming you everywhere for not working fast enough.
Oh no. The waiting game begins. It's a cruel world.
But seriously this is great news. I'm sure many sim forum people are more than eager to get a taste of your physics engine Todd. I especially like that it will be a new form of motorsport that has not been done before as a sim.
Can you give us any more details? How big is the team? Are you the sole physics coder? What kind of involvement do real Kart engineers have in development? Will there be demos before release?
Yeah, but I reckon he probably doesn't even know how awful he looks. He probably thinks he's displaying what an evil handling car he was driving. Obviously he didn't have a clue how to recognize oncoming oversteer nor what to do about it. Even the tyres were warning him very loudly, LFS-style, but this still didn't cause any reaction from him.
What I'm saying is that with so little understanding of driving dynamics he probably doesn't understand that his reaction left a lot to be desired either.
My guess would be that latest model Lolas (the ones that look exactly like the FO8) were sequential and the ones before probably H-shift. If you look closely at that youtube vid I think you can see Pizzonia downshifts two gears by pushing the stick forward twice.
And here's a list of the car models used in case anyone feels like doing some web research.
Nice, I just noticed that with the new sound system you can record replays at half speed and use the stretch filter in VirtualDubMod to speed up the sound without going to any external audio programs.
But there still is some crackling going on for me with Realtek AC'97 onboard sound.
And another small suggestion. Maybe there should be a way to disable split times in Shift-F mode while keeping flags enabled as splits can be quite distracting on some tracks.
Pressing buttons in the controler screen actually made LFS freeze and become completely unresponsive and forced me to hit the reset button. (WinXP, DFP)
Thx, I think I got a good idea of what it's about and I don't intend to go any further unless I need it for my own purposes some day. If anything it will sure make me sound smart.
Interesting. I'm trying get a bit of an understanding of Backward Euler:
So ds1 is the time derivative of s(t) at t=1 (to be multiplied by the time step I assume). But what is s(t) in a racing sim? I guess it can't really be a function since the external inputs to the simulation are always changing. Come to think of it, if this function were known there wouldn't be much point for any numerical integration would there? Is it an interpolated function calculated from known, past values?
Two questions: what do you mean exactly by the term "pre-spin state"? Isn't it more or less the same as oversteer?
And do you know if any modern PC sims are using integration methods other than Euler. My impression has been that todays CPU's haven't made this possible yet or that some methods were just not worth it.
Thanks guys. I've worked it out now. I did Samsung --> PC --> Siemens using the export/import functions of the Windows softwares. I wasn't expecting them to be able to read the same data formats but it worked well using CSV text files.
I've already saved all the data to PC using a data cable and the Samsung software but I want to send it to another phone directly so that I don't have to enter all the numbers and names by hand.
Love the post response speed here BTW. Been waiting a few days at the Samsung forums.
The main display of my phone has failed so need a keypress by keypress guide on how to send my complete phonebook to a new phone via infrared. I've already tried two Samsung forums and they haven't been very helpful. Surely somebody here must own an E700 and can have a quick look at the menu structure for me.
I love how nkp and LFS are both called "Online Racing Simulator" except nkp has a "Professional" in front of it. Somehow this slogan popped up in my mind when I saw the file was on megaupload. LOL.
OK, my last off-topic post here: The discussion reminded me of an article from the Straight Dope that compares swearing in English to swearing in other languages. Interesting read.
For anyone who doesn't know the site: don't go there if you don't have way too much time on your hands.
Oh yeah, sorry I didn't read the post properly where you explained this. Err wait, you didn't...
And that's the third or forth time you've either used smileys to try and call me an idiot or have directly or indirectly thrown other insults at me. This attidude is all the more unfitting considering your original complaint was that of me using immature language. From your first post on, a mature discussion this was not.
I felt you were overreacting, maybe it's something to do with cultural differences? And I was assuming that your son wouldn't be able to read at four years of age, forgetting that kids in the UK learn to read earlier than over here, which made your accusations sound even more curious to me.
And since there is no language warning for the Kimi clip I don't really understand the distinction you make between the clip and the image.
Well if he's running around shouting f**k because of that, maybe you shouldn't have read that word to him, or maybe you should make it clear to him that he shouldn't or maybe you shouldn't visit forums with him where the large majority of people are mature enough to deal with this kind of joke.
Beware, you'll be attacked any moment by DejaVu, who likes to browse the internet with 4-year olds at 1 o' clock in the morning and read out loud to him posts containing foul language.
