All I am going to say is, the last time we had a reasonable and nice discussion about the dev progress. We got a few test patches and some responses. If we can keep the discussion subtle and interesting, maybe just maybe, a wild developer will appear.
Why do you want to join MM?
Looking to find a good team with a consistent racing schedule. A good home to learn and contribute too while building skills as well. Your team seems to be local your ping is only 50ms. I'm from OH, USA. 21 yrs old.
Preferred Car?
B class cars XFB, UFB. Also love the GTR's and GT2's. FZR and FXR. OW cars are great.
I am glad you posted that. That is exactly how I feel.
^^ That is a very accurate statement. I wonder if the devs have thought to mess with the surfaces the cars drive on instead of so much time into tyre physics. Ground friction plays a big role just like the tyre physics do.
Not only would it please the current users, that would have probably attracted a lot more new users AND provided more funding for the development. Surely the tyre physics could have been greatly improved over a 3-4 year span. Get something you like, release it, then improve upon it. They can't expect to get a perfect version and feel from the tyre physics if they do it all on their own. How many real world racers are on these forums and use this software that could provide feedback about the feel of the lfs in comparison to real cars? Surely they would be able to gauge better if they are working in the right direction, unless of course, all 3 devs are secretly real life racers too!
So they held a public event promoting both items and thought that nobody their would find out and bring the news back to the LFS community.
This reflects poorly on the devs, and the way they are handling it.
Being more honest and open with the community will do a lot to restore the confidence in past, present, and future users of their software.
Computers made today can handle a lot more than computers of 10 years ago. Programming for obsolete hardware will only delay production further, and the sooner they realize this, the better the future of this game and community will be.
For some proof that lfs is losing the interest of everyone I have used LFSWorld to pull some stats.
just look at the pictures below. The top one, named yupppp, is the entire history of online use. The one named yupp, is the recent 30 days history, and the one named yuppp is from the last 300 days.
If you follow the pattern, the numbers have been on a steady decline acrossed the board.
That is not what they said when they announced it. Also, if the tyres affect the scirocco, then it also effects the other cars in the same way. Nobody says they have to get it right the first time. For all we know they could release both the physics and scirocco and other bugs and flaws will be found and discovered. That's what happens with a game in development. Using the community as extra man power to find the bugs seems like a logical idea instead of relying on 3 men to perfect it on their own. For all team Scavier knows, we could have several physicists and software engineers willing to provide feedback and help, but instead they insist on leaving us in the dark.
After all, LFS is still in major development. Look at Project CARS, which is still in development. They release content that is not guaranteed to function 100% to real life, but the fact they ask the communities feedback on the flaws found helps them find the flaws much faster.
CARS has already raised over one million Euro in community funding. Team Scavier could use a similar method in which in return for the help received they could offer discounted S3 upgrades or even free upgrades for those who helped in a significant manner.
Also, for the devs to take such a firm stance on finishing one thing before starting the other, after looking over the past new releases on lfs.net, i found that they have been hypocritical of themselves in holding this stance.

So much for early 2009
seems that is exactly what they did. They announced the tyre physics before rockingham, yet they completed rockingham before the physics.
They also were working on the Scirocco at the same time as well. 2 out of 3 things are finished now and we have not received anything.
how about an apology from the devs or the release of the Scirocco which is meant for S1 users. The tyre physics will change the feel of ALL cars, not just the Scirocco so with-holding S1 content for something that will affect all license holder seems very very misjudged.
Don't mean to rant on here, but it's very unpleasing to read that these updates are for people who have already paid for their license, yet they want to work on content that seems more geared towards preparing for S3.
I would much rather have another current license content update than receiving S3 at this point. I played demo for 4 years then upgraded to S2. I expected something more than this when i was reading about all the new shiny content to come soon.
I meant on a wide scale use for training drivers. I use some techniques I learned from LFS in real life also, but LFS alone, is not enough. (not at it's current state anyway.)
Not for someone trying to get mature and respectful drivers, not saying there is not someone under 15 who can be mature and respectful. After being a part of this community for as long as I have been, it is in my teams best interest to add drivers above the age of 15 to avoid other problems (forums trolls, crashers who don't understand that this team is attempting to get into serious league racing, and other various reasons.)
I appreciate the question and hope this clears up some misconception about the purpose and goals of Motion Motorsports.
