if you mean the brown (at least on my screen) bar, you're right - it's the dirt level. no bar at all = clean tires, the bigger the bar is, the more dirt is on the wheels
that could be a good explanation, although i do not hope it is..
in my eyes, there's no reason in not having a roadrace and a rally version of the same cars. and a rally pack with the kit-car like XF & UF, the RB and an offroad FX should be possible, even if race versions for most of the cars already exist
i don't like it - although an addition to the 2 car class would be great, i don't think it should be the XR - since we have no GTR version of the RB4, why not make an RBR version that fits into the GT2/GTS class?
a little more powerful/faster than the XFR but also a lot heavier and a lot more thirsty
i think the RB4 deserves a race version as well but 4 different GTR cars aren't really necessary (although i wouldn't mind having 4..) so maybe it could be added to the GTS/GT2 class sometime in the future..
the GTR class may look like totaly unbalanced, but don't just look at the single lap times - if you run in a 40 or 60 lap race, tire wear and fuel consumption becomes also a huge factor - and here, the XRR is miles ahead of the FZR
i think a few slight adjustments would be great but i wouldn't go that far and call the car unequal
like back at RSC everybody has his own opinion about this and you will neer find solution that suits everyone, but here's how i'd like to have it with the full release
a class system that can also be used for the serverlists (some quicklinks as addition to selecting every single type of car)
TOURING DIVISION 2 (up to 1.8 litres, no turbo)
UF1, XFG, XRG (just give the UF1 15 more Hp and make it lose 30 kilos with a little lower fuel consumption and tire wear)
TOURING DIVISION 1 (the turbo class)
RB4, FXO, XRT (no real changes needed here - maybe a little less tire wear and a little less weight on the RB4)
SPORTSCARS
LX4, LX6, FZ5, RAC (make the LX4 lose 30 kilos and use a little less fuel and tires than right now and it might be a challenger on some tracks)
GT2
XFR, UFR (no real changes needed here, kind of like the turbo class)
GT1
XRR, FZR, FXR (also no big changes needed here - maybe a few more HP on the FXR and a little less weight on the XRR , but the class is not that unbalanced)
i'd also prefer these thougfhts to the old credit system - although i wouldn't restrict the online miage to single cars but rather to car classes. being forced to actually drive a car you do not like isn't good from my point of view
a certain ammount of milage on the slow cars (UF1, XFG, XRG) to get to the TBO class, and a certain ammount of milage there to move on to the sportscars (LX, FZ5, RAC) and the MRT - then GTR2 (XFR, UFR) and the FXO - then GT1 (FZR, FXR, XRR) and finally the FO8
or a sytem only focussing on the mileage without forcing to take certain cars to drive the miles (e.g. 1000 miles - TBO - 4000 miles - sportscars/mrt5 - 8000 miles GTR2/FXO...)
actually the credits system was there to prevent starters to chose thefastest cars right away - from what i understand, the points system will come back with the full release (not the alpha) and i think it's the rigth way to handle it.
i know that credits aren't hard to get but it still prevents a certain amount of new users to race with the cars they can't control
it would indeed be helpful to know if you could let the guy behind you pass or have to fight - especially in the later stages of a race where you don't want to ruin your whole race by getting into problems with a lapped backmarker
a lapped driver faster than you? probably not on most circuits but on the oal and other very short tracks, this can happen easily - i remember being more than a lap up on the 2nd place driver just because of my later pitstop on the kyoto oval in a race once..
